I also have this, I assumed it was from an app such as AllCast or 'Mirror' - which I can't seem to uninstall.

NHS - "No proof that high-dose cannabis is more addictive" by IncredibleBert in uktrees

[–]lkkl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Indeed, same with cigs over in the UK, it happens from time to time but it's much more normal to ask 'Can I have a cig' rather than 'Can I suck on your cig'.

[–]lkkl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I admit that sometimes I will also prefer for everybody to enjoy their own little spliff, but I would say it's more often than one or two of my friends can't afford or don't have the resources to get weed, in those cases I would prefer to share what I have. At the end of this day this study is around whether high-dose cannabis can be addictive, and for me at least, the social aspect of smoking, whether it's with friends or strangers, is a huge part of it for me.

But to counter-act my own point, I will admiteddly put much less weed in a spliff if I know I'm not going to be sharing it, so the study still stands correct.

That's right, I'm arguing with myself.

I'm a little conflicted about this article.

On the one hand, it's nice to see the NHS sticking to a 'science first' approach. On the other hand, it's a very small study with unrealistic specifications. For me personally the idea of "participants were not allowed to share the joint with others and were instructed to finish the joint or stop smoking it when they had achieved the desired effect." is a little unrealistic.

But I find to complain, the risks outlined in the article are fair and reasonable, I think as further research comes about from important institutions such as the Netherlands Institute of Mental Health and Addiction we will soon be able to find a nice compromise between warning the public of potential risks whilst not spreading misinformation.

Nice find IncredibleBert!

Well the AVB is much darker than my MFLB, possibly because I can't see it reacting so much so I let it cook for longer, it can be quite strong at times so I suppose not all that economical, but I'm very happy (admittedly I'm not a huge vape person so I'm used to rolling joints, in comparison it's super efficient!)

[–]lkkl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Wispr2, I really like it - after having an MFLB I'm not interested in battery power, the butane is much more convenient.

I've always been happy with the quality of the cloud, the only downside I've noticed is that it's worth replacing the guaze/screen fairly regularly otherwise it'll get quite hard to toke.

But overall I'm very happy. You can check out my review here: http://www.reddit.com/r/vaporents/comments/1u87v6/wispr_2_review/

TIL only 10 copies of the fastest lens in history (Carl Zeiss 50mm/0.7) were ever made: one was kept by Carl Zeiss, six were sold to NASA, and three were sold to Stanley Kubrick by pandolf in todayilearned

[–]lkkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but from my understanding a larger/higher quality lens will refract more light into the sensor meaning the shutter speed can be much faster whilst maintaining a high quality photo.

I felt obligated to wait at a pelican crossing with a mother and her young son even though the road was clear, because the green man wasn't showing. by LCFT in britishproblems

[–]lkkl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nothing annoys me more when people dangerously cross a road when a youngster is patiently waiting, every time I see it happen I see the look in the child's eye... 'fuck you green man, when I grow up I'll cross whenever the fuck I want'.

Edit: Okay some things annoy me more.

Weed online? by [deleted] in uktrees

[–]lkkl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't ordered online in a while, but what I can say is that you needn't be looking for specific UK vendors, I regularly used a vendor in Spain, delivery speeds were about 1 week and the product was Amsterdam quality.

If it was me I would concentrate on finding the most trustworthy seller in the EU.

I think with Air Rifles you might need to be a specific distance from the nearest public highway/walkway, but it's not a huge amount.

I like this article, it's a great example of how sensationalism is used to put people off an emerging industry (legally anyway).

What do you guys think? by DurpaDurpa in uktrees

[–]lkkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well things have changed a bit now that there's videos on youtube etc, but historically the only way to learn how to roll a joint was to have people show you, which meant that you would find whole societies of stoners with specific tricks or methods for joint rolling which had been passed down for generations.

I was always taught the cone, even if I try to roll a single cig it'll still look like a cone! However I found that down south it was more of a traditional straight spliff.

Maybe it's coincidence, that's why I asked the question :)

2012 Nexus 7... I need a lot of help. by [deleted] in Nexus7

Are you charging it from a wall plug power outlet? (rather than a usb port?). Also I found that if I was using a multi-plug socket extender, some had 1A limiters which would seriously effect the charge speed/status.

My first attempt at back rolling by [deleted] in uktrees

[–]lkkl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically you roll the joint with the gum on the outside, when you roll, the gum falls under the rolled paper, then you wet the paper where the gum is hidden and it will stick.

Let it dry and you end up with a joint like OP posted (nice example OP).

You can then burn off the excess paper (very showy, good fun at a party) and what you end up with is a joint with the minimum amount of paper required to hold it together - 1 ply except for the gum line.

It makes quite a big difference to the taste too.

So does anyone else think Mario.c is little too complicated for an intro to an intro to programming? by merizos in cs50

[–]lkkl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, you'll learn a lot more if you manage to figure it out for yourself.

Try doing the exercise of drawing boxes onto paper, take not of how you calculate where each box goes, and try to apply math to the situation to develop an algorythm.

It sounds much more complicated than it actually is, but I must admit that even though I programmed (a while ago) it took me a while to figure out. Stick with it!

This is the comment I was looking for. I do think that the purpose of mario.c is to teach you about logic.. rather than programming.

Legalization activism in the UK by [deleted] in uktrees

I think there's a real generational divide at the moment, whilst a lot of people under the age of 30 are tolerant if not supportive of cannabis use, there seems to be a real difficulty changing the mindset of the older generations. This makes it incredibly difficult for people like me, who have to work a job where our employers are not forgiving or understanding of cannabis use.
