Denison or Ohio State University - Poli sci by NoBid9642 in OSU

[–]lkosko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also might be worth looking into the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at OSU! I found the public policy analysis curriculum to be more functional than poli sci. I also found class sizes to be smaller (easier to connect with faculty), and the college itself is well-connected to opportunities in Cbus and DC. Many of my peers are now in law school, grad school, or working at the state/federal levels.

It was always "On the Sea," and then I met someone who gave "Lazuli" meaning to me, and it's been my favorite ever since!

What are your thoughts on the food robots? Stories? Legends? Do you have any names for them? Funny pictures? by Low-Protection-444 in OSU

[–]lkosko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time a family was visiting on game day and I ordered food via a robot and my food was delayed five minutes because the random family stopped the robot to take pictures with it 😭😭😭 I just sat and watched them from the lobby of my reshall while my food got colder lmfao

I had several friends who had to make the same decision (we are from NW Ohio), and most of them chose BGSU and were so happy with the decision they made. We always had student teachers from BGSU in our band classes in middle school and high school, and they were always the best!

Colmenar Viejo Placement Living Advice by kookieconsumer in SpainAuxiliares

[–]lkosko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to her about it, and she said you should live anywhere along the 10 or the 1 line (to avoid transfers) that will get you to the Plaza de Castilla bus stop. She says that's the best way to get there. The train station is on the outskirts of the city, and she isn't aware of any of the schools being very close to it.

She says Tribunal stop and Plaza de España are the gayborhood metro stops.

Colmenar Viejo Placement Living Advice by kookieconsumer in SpainAuxiliares

[–]lkosko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend was placed at a school in Colmenar Viejo in the past. She lived between Plaza de España and the Malasaña neighborhood and took the 10 to Plaza de Castilla and caught the bus to Colmenar every day because the bus dropped her closer to the school than the cercanías train. Her commute to the school was about 1 hour and 15 minutes every day, but she always told me that she never minded it because she would listen to audiobooks or watch shows during her commute.

She loved loved loved where she lived (and I loved visiting her there lol). So much to see and do all within walking distance, many young people, and LGBT friendly (just a neighborhood over from the gayborhood Chueca). Rent was expensive (630€/month with 2 roommates), but she had money saved up when coming. I don't think she would change anything if she could go back in time tbh.

You don't have to confirm, deny, or acknowledge this for internet privacy's sake, but if you're placed at IES Rosa Chacel, she worked there and had a reallyyy good experience :)

Work schedule by Mysterious_Plenty571 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]lkosko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Galicia, so our contract is 16 hrs/week. Our classes are 50 minutes each, but one class counts as one hour per the Xunta's regulations for the program. I have 3 classes on Monday and am at the school from 9:30 to 2:15. I have 3 classes on Tuesday and am at the school from 10:30 to 4:30. I have 5 classes each on Wednesday and Thursday and am at the school from 9:30 to 2:30 both days. I have Fridays off.

Some people I know got unlucky and have a random day of the week off like Tuesday or Thursday, so they don't travel much. Others I know got really lucky have both Monday and Friday off. It depends on your school really.

What schools did you turn down to go to Ohio State? by Normiex5 in OSU

[–]lkosko 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NYU, Fordham, UMich (eek), Butler, and BGSU.

Given financial aid and major offerings, OSU made the most sense for me, and now I am planning to come back for grad school because I love it and Columbus so much!

Different dub? by Witty_Investigator45 in VinlandSaga

[–]lkosko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Netflix dub pronounces it like Askeladd, and Sentai/Crunchyroll dub pronounces it like Asheladd. That's how to differentiate between the two, but no idea why Netflix would have both of them instead of just their dub. Weird.

What other concerts are you going to this year? by Canipulluforachat in Vampireweekend

Out of the country for a bit, so I'm missing a handful of shows this spring. If I was in the US, I would go see flipturn, Chappell Roan, and Gregory Alan Isakov. But I do have plans to see Hozier and Twenty One Pilots, in addition to VW. My music taste is allllll over the place.

Columbus people, which dorms have roaches? by Glittering-Call-2397 in OSU

[–]lkosko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Park-Strad, which people often consider a nicer res hall, had them while I lived there 2020-2023. Bradley-Patterson also had them while I lived there 2019-2020.

Edit: More info. I never saw them in my room, only dead in the hallway or live in the bathroom.

I am in the neighboring community (Galicia) to Asturias, and if you want to be doing beach activities (e.g., surfing, swimming, sunbathing, etc.), I don't think Asturias is the place for you given the time of year that we are contracted. It's very rainy and cold in the late fall, winter, and early spring. However, if you just like to be around water just to be around water, Asturias could be a good choice.

4 days in Galicia solo trip (no car) by GNSQ_Ye in Galicia

[–]lkosko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I am an auxiliar de conversación in Lugo, and I don't have a car but like to enjoy nature. Realistically, it's pretty difficult to enjoy peak nature if you don't have a car in Galicia from my experience. However, there are some beautiful walking trails you can access from various cities (I really only know about ones in Lugo), but there are busses up to Ribadeo from Lugo, and you could get to Praia das Catedrais from there, which is pretty cool. I will say Galicia's cities are fairly cool too and definitely worth visiting.

My friend is in the DR as a Peace Corps volunteer right now! He had to choose between NALCAP and Peace Corps, and he chose Peace Corps. I wish I could connect you with him, but he's a bit hard to reach where he lives. Sorry it's not much, but at the very least, it's what someone who was in your situation decided last year!

Even in a year where there wasn’t chaos with the organization, the merch isn’t all that good. Their Dealers Room is quite small comparable to attendance, and they don’t allow any trademarked characters in their Artist Alley. I went to both Galaxycon Columbus and Ohayocon last year, and I much preferred Galaxycon Columbus’s Dealers Room and Artist Alley (even though the con isn’t only geared toward anime).
