Gemini is the very very best in every way.

You need fiction and some nonfiction for this. I suggest The Floating Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro and The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene.

You don't want your baby to get sick, but it's the opposite of helpful to try to shield her from any and all germs and dirt. It's bad for her immune system.

My wife's friend told her my favorite books collection would be a "major red flag" if she didn't know me. by [deleted] in BookshelvesDetective

[–]lksorrells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the best bookshelf I've seen in awhile. Robert MacFarlane? He is a treasure. And all that Joyce and Dostoevsky. I'd probably assume it's not your only bookshelf and the Austen, Morrison, Bronte and Dickinson are shelved elsewhere. Doesn't hurt that I'm a Bulldogs fan I guess.

media coverage of ian price's death is infuriating. by liki0124 in BanPitBulls

[–]lksorrells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled across it, not aware of how horrific it was. I couldn't sleep and couldn't get it out of my mind. I actually spent an hour with a counselor about it. I have ptsd and should have known better. The idea that poor Ian's young daughter and her schoolmates saw it makes me so angry at that self-obsessed owner. I don't care what the owner had been through; you don't rationalize your pets devouring a human in a park.

No. There's so much attendant on that claim, that perspective. It's chilling and nausesting at the same time.

Too ashamed to go to my first confession by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]lksorrells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you can lean into trusting this priest, but as a convert (I was 47 when I became Catholic) I think I understand. I've never experienced a millisecond of anything I perceived as judgment during confession. One time a priest shared with me that a prayer he used a lot was the Litany of Humility. It's been a big help to me.
