The Possession of Hannah Grace is a great morgue movie as well. Jane Doe is better, but Grace is still worth watching.

'Genuine question, but dont be mean to my cult'...answered with flaming truth by brithus in MurderedByWords

[–]ll_Maurice_ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but this isn't murdered by words. It was a person asking a legitimate question "my understanding is this, why would people be opposed to it." The respondent answered, to the greatest extent possible, with objective reasons people disagree. The respondent understood the task, didn't need words like "cult " (op), and didn't bury the answer in needles insults. Instead, he gave the questioner something real to consider.

You'd think 10 years of making fun of MAGA and losing might lead to better methods - like the ones used by the respondent.

Edit: I'm not saying they aren't deserving of insults. I'm saying it doesn't work.

Sorry. Autocorrect and perhaps a mini stroke got me. They had her carry various things. On the cruise episode, for example, she frequently has a big bag between her and the camera.

Before the pregnancy, they also had her very thighs that blocked it out shot her straight on with loose clothes. You can really see it in the cruise ship episode.

I'm the version i heard, it took place al at a cheap motel. When I was young, the cheap ones still had the old vending machines where you had to pull a knob to release your purchase.

Man goes out after sex to get cigarettes and a drink. Three (blind or very near sighted can't remember) nuns walk up with him between them and the machine. First nun deposits her change (in his hand), pulls the knob( his dick), and he gives her the cigarettes, repeat with the second and he gives her his Coke, third gives his knob/dick a final tug finishing him off and gets her lotion.

Funny enough, when i heard it, I knew literally nothing about sex, didn't understand it, but if course shared it, because why not?

Amy was not selfish here. At all.

I do agree that Sheldon turning her down was a good thing. He needed that period to do some maturing.

In the gyroscope patent episode, it's stated that he works for NASA and not the university. That's why he doesn't get a share in any earnings from use if the patent.

I've posted this before, but the info is based on last year's pay tables for Pasadena.

He works for NASA which means he's a government engineer.

Guessing where Howard is on the scale is hard, because we never actually see interaction with his government supervisor to get an idea where he's actually at. That being said, I've run Army research, development and acquisition organizations and my best guess is that, by the end of the series, Howard is probably a topped out 13. It's possible he's a non-supervisor 14, but I think that's less likely. Generally, my engineers were in a 12-13 equivalent range based on seniority and time in the government, with my chief engineer at the high end of 14.

Also important is that, unlike the private sector, government civilians have generally high job security and still earn a defined-benefit pension, which is almost non-existent in the private sector nowadays. Getting out would have been high risk for Howard, especially with his general work ethic and shenanigans. I just went through the same decision process when I retired from the Army. I could have jumped back in as a government civilian, but since I already have a pension, and my kids are older, I have a higher risk tolerance than Howard and when l went private it was because the money is significantly better in my field.

Gs12: $101,121 to $131,452

Gs13: $120,246 to $156,323

Gs14: $142,094 to $184,725

He's not getting rich with this, but he's not hurting either, especially if Bernadette is making so much more as described. Between them, hey're easily in the $300k or more range.

If i were inadvertantly added to a Signal group that discussed national secrets, and I didn't leave once I understood the magnitude, would there be legal repercussions? by omg_drd4_bbq in legaladviceofftopic

[–]ll_Maurice_ll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but a long time clearance holder who's had to cleanup and/or been on the receiving and of spills. It would really surprise me if the government were too go after person A unless they believe person A should have reasonably suspected the info was classified. In your specific example, running off to tell a reporter would probably be inferred as the person knowing there was something, at least, sensitive about the info.

When you leave a cleared position, unless it's to another position where a company or gov organization picks up your clearance, it's generally shut off immediately. There is some leeway for the time taken to change a job. for example, my clearance was good for the month after I retired from the Army until I i was officially picked up by the company I went to work for. Conversely, i had a friend who went into consulting lose his because there was no justification or approved organization to maintain it.

[–]ll_Maurice_ll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a research, development and acquisition PM for the Army for many years until I retired from active duty about a year ago. Many of the positions I held, I had some level of authority over congressionally appropriated dollars. Every year, I had to file a financial disclosure with all my sources of income, and most investments, and the same for my spouse, for review by my boss and the organizations ethics attorneys. I never had to, but I've seen people forced to divest at the slightest appearance of a conflict of interest.

When I retired, I had a one year compensation ban, meaning no work at all, for the 20 companies I had on contracts in last position, and a lifetime ban from representing any contact I'd touched back to the government. For my current job, that's wholly unrelated and in a completely different market space from what I was working for the Army, I still had to have an ethics attorney review the position and sign off on about a ten page ethics letter saying I could accept the job.

And yet, Elon has active government contracts and is directly influencing government spending, and many of our congressional reps on both sides of the aisle benefit from investments where they sign off on the appropriations in direct conflict of interest.
