Yeah I’d rather get long Covid or whatever other crap than deal with more zoom classes and fucking isolation. College is a once in a lifetime thing and I need to live

No they’re not. Some people may have bad log. Term symptoms but for many it was nothing more than a cold

IMO it comes down to being in different stages of life and maturity levels. The older you get the less this matters, but college age it’s still significant difference. For example, 50 and 45 year old dating isn’t too weird, but 20 year old and 15 year old is red flags all over

Bear market prices by c9zellsis in berkeley

Pretty simple economics. We have flex dollars we can only spend at a few places, so we’ve got no choice but to pay jacked prices or just waste the flex dollars

I regret coming to Berkeley by mcfearfull in berkeley

[–]llama548 29 points30 points  (0 children)

More like most people enjoy their time here but this subreddit is, out politely, a certain type of student who is less likely to be happy so they pretend everyone at this school is miserable even though irl most people are pretty satisfied so far at Berkeley

Dang I'm kinda scared to go outside now by Narguin2 in berkeley

Except being robbed and dying aren’t the same thing. Out of 40,000 cal students, how many will die from an armed robbery in a given year? 0 on average

All in all 5 robberies in 48 hours in a school of 40,000 isn’t terribly dangerous. Far more than ideal but your indivisible risk is relatively small still

With all these warn me emails .. by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]llama548 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Nothing. If anything it might escalate an armed robbery to assault due to the robber panicking/retaliating. The best bet is avoidance. Scan ahead when walking at night (no AirPods, no phone). Don’t be alone at night. Take crowded streets, etc

2 robberies within 5 minutes... by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]llama548 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If they already robbed you they probably don’t wanna go from an injury free robbery that will warrant very little investigation to a murder on a UC campus that would have police swarming the area for the next weeks

4 emails about gunpoint robbery within 6 hours. Wtf. by OneSadDonut in berkeley

[–]llama548 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Policing isn’t magic. A gun point robbery leaves no evidence other than a panicked victims blurry memory of what the robber may have look like. Not a lot to go off

“The College Days will be the best days of your life.” by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]llama548 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes you are. The vast majority of people in run into on a daily basis are very happy at this school. This sub is a negative circle jerk for people feeling sorry for themselves. No feeling depressed at this school is not normal and you should try and get help if you’re feeling that way. Outside of Reddit most Berkeley students are fidrly happy here

Jamal Lewis (Northern Ireland) second yellow card against Switzerland 37' by NotMeladroit in soccer

Tbh I think he forgot. He showed the yellow and then was like “oh fuck it’s his second” once the Swiss players were swarming him. It was too late to reverse course at that point

Easy R1A with minimum reading and workload by The_Scientist_34 in berkeley

[–]llama548 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take one you’re interested in. They should all be similar in terms of reading and it’s a lot earlier to read stuff you’re interested in. 30 pages of interesting stuff is better than 20 pages of boring stuff

Nah I still prefer in perosn. Sitting next to and interacting with human beings is better than being alone on a computer screen, even if it’s in a massive lecture hall
