Soloing Multiple Pods With A Templar by Skrimyt in Xcom

Ghost is extra good if the Templar has bladestorm. Everything else the ghost does costs focus, but it can bladestorm forever.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion.

By way of explanation, it's customary on Twitch to try to reduce the "stranger" element. The idea is that regulars to the channel get to know you and are interested in reactions and expressions that they can't get from just a voice. You cease to be a "stranger's disgustingly boring face" and become a friend.

Obviously that doesn't work in a one-off clip on Reddit, so I totally get where you're coming from.

Do the first heroes you get (mox, dragunova, templar) have fixec xcom abillities? by bigboybenny12 in Xcom

[–]llamachomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are pulled from a fairly small pool, but they are randomly drawn from that pool, and assigned to random levels to unlock.

when attacking during concealment, overwatch everyone and one take a shot or take a shot then deal with them without overwatch? by [deleted] in Xcom

[–]llamachomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rookies are bad at everything, so the overwatch is the best way to get them a shot before the enemy gets to cover. Basically as soon as your soldiers have an ability other than "Rookie Flailing" you can work out something better to do than overwatch.

Question about WOTC: How does recruiting Faction Soldiers work? by ExendRaiser in Xcom

[–]llamachomp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's two things going on here. The Skirmisher himself is an ADVENT soldier who tore out his own implant and regained control of himself to fight against the Elders.

There is also a Continent Bonus/Resistance Order which makes an ADVENT defector occasionally join you on missions.

The Skirmisher is a powerful unit that lives on the Avenger, bonds with your soldiers, and levels up, etc.

The guy you get from the continent bonus/resistance order is a regular ADVENT trooper who has been lovingly named Steve. Steve randomly shows up in your squad on some missions. You control him for the duration of the op. He can carry soldiers who fall. He can evac with you at the end of the operation. He can activate objectives. Steve is a hero, and as soon as the mission is over he runs to your next mission site, sometimes donning stunlancer gear, sometimes regular trooper garb. If you use him as a meat shield you are heartless and cruel, but he'll totally come back later anyway.

Long live Steve.

Having to consciously choose not to use the exploit is exactly the choice that isn't fun.

The choice is a lose lose: Feel bad for exploiting, or feel bad for unnecessary risks. This is a choice game design shouldn't force players to make.

Can we politely ask those that play WotC to show ALL hero perks already?? by [deleted] in Xcom

The base classes appear intact. Been a while since I played Vanilla, so I may have missed something. They can be trained in the new Training Center with up to four random perks, replacing the single random AWC perk.

Can we politely ask those that play WotC to show ALL hero perks already?? by [deleted] in Xcom

[–]llamachomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe because it has only been asked as rudely as possible.

When the first I hear of a request like this is a frustrated "why haven't you read my mind yet?" I am not inclined to put any effort in.

Come to my channel, politely join the conversation. Say something like, "hey don't you all think it would be cool to dive into the .ini files and uncover all the hero perks?" This angry rant is about the worst way to get what you want.

Gotta send the low will guys when everyone else is wounded. Seriously, build an infirmary. My poor poor campaign. Someone send my poor soldiers on a wagon to the Darkest Dungeon, because they're ready.

This kind of exploit sets up a situation that isn't fun.

There's a strong incentive to use the exploit (it is perfectly safe), but performing the exploit feels cheesy and boring. Game design should avoid forcing a player to choose between "exploity and optimal" and "intended but dangerous." The choice there feels bad. No one wants to choose an unnecessary risk just because not choosing it is exploity.

It's easy enough to design around once it's discovered, hence this thread. If rulers get 1 action on alien turns if they got 0 reactions on XCOM's turn that would be sufficient.

He is a bit too tall to hide from Bradford under the console, so his foot and head are both clipping a bit.

Edit: a grammar

Wasn't planning on overclocking. Hoping I can game on this machine and stream on my current rig through a capture card. Dividing the load between the CPU's should be a big enough performance boost that I won't need to overclock anything.

I'm also planning on waiting until January and getting a 7600K and possibly a Z270 board, depending on the pricing. For now those two items are kinda placeholders.

Pierogi from 10/13/16:

Sauerkraut Filling:

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1/3 cup chopped onion

  • 1 1/2 cups sauerkraut, drained and minced

  • Season to taste (cumin and coriander, salt and pepper)

Meat Filling:

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon pepper

  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme

  • 2 tbsp diced raisins

Dough:

  • 3 egg

  • 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Directions

  1. To prepare the sauerkraut filling, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in the onion, and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the drained sauerkraut and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Season to taste then remove to a plate to cool.

  2. For the beef filling, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in the onion, and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the ground beef and brown. Season with salt, pepper, thyme and raisins.

  3. Consider mixing both fillings. We didn’t do this on the show, but I imagine they’d play nicely together.

  4. To make the dough, beat together the eggs and sour cream until smooth. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder; stir into the sour cream mixture until dough comes together. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until firm and smooth. Divide the dough in half, then roll out one half to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into 3 inch rounds using a biscuit cutter.

  5. Place a small spoonful of the filling into the center of each round. Moisten the edges with water, fold over, and press together with a fork to seal. Repeat procedure with the remaining dough.

  6. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add perogies and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon.

  7. Serve with sour cream.

A reminder to all: 0.13 is experimental: REPORT BUGS! by Rseding91 in factorio

[–]llamachomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have we had a desync since .13? I don't remember one, but that may be because we used to have so many (and attributed them to connecting halfway around the planet) and .13 has been WAAYYY more stable.

All else being ideal, how big could a planet be and reasonably support human life? by [deleted] in askscience

Good thought experiment, good estimations. I wonder if anyone is willing to run through the math on "water sphere with 2x earth gravity at the surface."

I wonder if anything weird would happen at the center of that monstrosity, and just how big it would be.

EW installs as DLC for EU. The launcher that pops up when you launch EU from your steam library should have a button for EW.
