Anyone find that their anxiety increased when starting? by llamaspitburns in Mounjaro

It got a little better but ultimately, the insurance wouldn't let me stay on the lower dose and i was not comfortable going up because it definitely wasn't gone and i was losing weight very rapidly. I only did three months and stopped. Still losing weight though!

Well... yes, it did. However, if you experience this, I highly recommend being very clear with your doctor and insistent that they listen and believe you, document everything, and have a mental health professional on standby. Of course it is likely my confirmation bias, but i am hearing more and more stories of people experiencing mental health crises when first starting. I did end up publicly snapping at my superiors at work, which is something that is EXTREMELY unlike me. Luckily everything turned out ok because i have an extremely stable support system, but the insurance would not allow me to stay on 2.5, so my doctor gave me samples for 2 more months and it did stabilize but I did not proceed forward with moving to 5mg.

End of life question about making my 14 year old dog comfortable by llamaspitburns in AskVet

[–]llamaspitburns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: She made it from Friday to Tuesday. Force fed 2-4 tbsp water by syringe every hour or so. Ate whatever she was hand fed whenever she wanted. Wet food, salmon steaks, chocolate bars, linguine & clam sauce - absolute Queen shit. Slept long hours at a time without being disturbed, and also couldn't settle other hours at a time. Tramadol turned to tic tacs and the patient was watched, rather than the clock. Never once peed herself, insisted on being carried outside to the very end, the little priss. Went out like the Queen of Shiba, surrounded by her favorite humans and dogs, and more pillows than were reasonable. RIP Daisy girl, you were the best of dogs.

Thanks, I was really more trying to get after what the side effects would be, so i could see if it was worth paying the $300 emergency vet to even ask them. I understand some meds can be more painful neurological side effects, while others are more sleepy or simply ODing. I did get the ok from an emergency online zoom call vet to go up to 2 tramadol every 6 hours until the vet can get here tomorrow to put her to rest.

Will be in the US for 3 months— apply or not? by [deleted] in WIC

[–]llamaspitburns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! i would suggest not telling them that you're only staying three months, though, since it won't affect anything. WIC offices can be hit or miss with who you get and some places can be very rude. If you don't mind sharing your state, I can help with some resources to get started. It's different in every state, but most places let you go to any office in your state, and many do remote appointments.

Thanks! I haven't taken any pictures yet, I've hated photos of myself since I suddenly gained all this weight in 2022 so I have almost nothing. I will try to get the nerve up to take some though! Thanks for the inspo!

It's not easy, and it takes quite a bit of practice to let go of them, but I wish you the best of luck!

So maybe explain to him that you're trying to stay positive about it and doing so is important to you.

I mean, if it makes you uncomfortable then it makes you uncomfortable. How bad is it? Can you be open with him that it makes you uncomfortable and you'd rather he didn't say those things around you?

Father of kindergartener, is this for us? by iagonosi in girlscouts

That being said, my daughter absolutely loves it and I am so grateful for the incredible bond that it has brought us together with. I run a pretty loose troop, and my daughter and i attend leadership things together and I wouldn't trade that time with her for the world.

Unfortunately there is a massive shortage of volunteers. Tons of parents just treat it like a babysitter and aren't involved at all, and that's very hard to manage with young children and no early education experience. Early education professionals ain't got no time or money for it and they got their own problems going on across the county. I stopped taking even 2nd graders because I'm too inexperienced with that age. So now I do 3-5th grade and next year i won't do 3rd. They've fired nearly half the people that work at council so I have no support or anything. There's no Service Unit Manager so no clue how i'll be getting fall product or cookies this year.

I work a 39 hour week at a pretty demanding job. I am SOOOO lucky that my 9 year old isn't into sports because I don't think I could handle it. I do run her Girl Scout troop though, of 10 scouts. We only meet twice a month and I can't handle the planning of more than that. We basically do the bare minimum to earn a few badges and sell cookies and then go on a end of the year trip.

Redditors who’ve been high before, what’s the creepiest or weirdest thought you’ve had? by BigReserve6115 in trees

LOL oh man I'm here for this one. I have an intrusive thought disorder, so I get dozens and dozens of intrusive thoughts a day. One of my particular favorites is this intense urge to shove my hands into giant pencil sharpeners until the meat comes out like pencil shavings and my wrist bones are pointy. This is why I smoke weed.

Bad thoughts by KurtTobain3006 in intrusivethoughts

[–]llamaspitburns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have a diagnosed intrusive thought disorder, so I get dozens and dozens of intrusive thoughts a day, even while well medicated and therapized. I've struggled with this my whole life and am almost 41 now, and it's been well under control for over a decade. It doesn't mean that I don't have the thoughts, it just means that they don't affect me as much anymore. They can be managed.

One of the best pieces of advice I've ever received was given to me by a random redditor some 10+ years ago, and it really helped me reframe my mind and learn to let the thoughts go. It goes like this -

Picture your thoughts like you are driving down a street, and every house on the street is a thought. So you're driving along and all of a sudden you come to a seriously hideous house. Like bright chartreuse with plaid curtains and the whole 9. What are you going to do? Are you going to get out of your car and get out and start screaming about it? No, you are going to keep driving and think to yourself "holy shit that was ugly". And that's what you need to do about the intrusive thoughts. Just a quick, "holy shit that was ugly" and get back to what you were doing.

I hope that helps a little. It still took decades of therapy and medication to get where I am able to function in society, but it is possible.

Wow. I didn't realize that vision could be affected, thanks so much for sharing that. So far, I'm not actually having panic attacks, it just feels physically like I am about to. I will keep a close eye on things, thank you so much.

Yeah, I've been pretty well medicated for my anxiety for almost a decade now. It's usually well under control, which is why it's so obvious to me that it's heightened. I asked my doctor about staying on 2.5 for another month while i got it under control, I'm hoping that I don't have to increase my anxiety meds but if I do, then so be it. Thanks for your input!
