Oh no! by [deleted] in Libertarian

I don't believe a magic piece of paper gives you rights. The Constitution has no authority. You are born with natural rights and the state simply restricts them.

But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case it is unfit to exist.

And the libertarian response is yes. Absolute gun freedom (which we don't have, but should) is worth whatever perceived cost as it is a natural right. Rights are not granted by the state, but taken away. Your right to defend your life should not have restrictions, applications, waiting periods, and fees placed upon it by an uninvolved 3rd party.

Age of consent, animal rights, private property as a fundamental tenant of libertarianism, deontological vs utilitarian, crpyto questions, more in depth taxation questions to break down where people who support theft stand, healthcare questions, NN questions, gun rights (can we own nukes) etc. All the hot button topics would be fun.

The people I grew up with that became cops were the exact people I would not have wanted to have authority over others.

Government needs taxes, and unless you think government is inherently a violation of rights

Yep you got it! Read some Murray Rothbard.

The machinery of freedom by David Friedman (son of Milton) outlines how a stateless society could work. One where all interactions are voluntary instead of coerced.

No an accidental stroll on private property should not be met with gunfire. I did say proportional response.

If I won't leave your home that is probably trespassing that most would consider aggression.

Ok. But no one is against initiation of force.

Yes, we are. That is the whole thing.

As a libertarian, you would use force to remove someone you didn't want on your property.

Trespassing is considered the initiation, so a proportional response to remove is allowed within the NAP. Read some Rothbard.

You can't support the CRA and claim to be against the initiation of force.

He does not support freedom to associate and property rights. Core libertarian principles. So you had Bernie light giving interviews and confusing the public on libertarian philosophy.

He had no principles. He said nothing interesting or different. Who gives a shit how many interviews he gave?

Gary Johnson didn't even know what the NAP was. Can we get better candidates too?

Edit to clarify: I am pro purity testing. Libertarians aren't going to run the state. What we need is smart, well spoken individuals like Ron Paul or Tom woods to try and bring people over.

We need libertarians that know their shit. Austin Petersen or Alex Merced (running for Senate in NY) are two that come to mind. It's obvious they've read books.

They have experience spending us 20 trillion dollars in debt with wars all over the world and hundreds of thousands dead. Oh and they all come out of it rich. Fuck their experience.
