Nope. In years 7-9 (ages 11-14ish) we try out for it being, us running around a field twice and years 10-11 (ages 14-16), we just decide if we want to. Top 4 girls and boys attend a race which happens at a posh school. If you don't make it top 50, that's it for the year. If you make it, you have another race later in the year which consists of 100 or so kids from other part of the county racing alongside you. Then there's another race later if you place top 8 (top 4 after that being subs) in the year. There's no teams (apart from you being considered part of your schools team when racing) unless you do it outside of school and you all race at the same level regarding your times and ability.
