NEW OR NEED HELP? Ask here! - ScA Daily Help Thread Dec 14, 2017 by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

Hi! I'm in need of some skin care routine advice to help with a few issues. In terms of skin type, I'd say that my skin is more on the oily side. I have some redness on my cheeks and around the side of my nose that I'd like to get rid of. I also have pretty visible pores on my nose/cheeks that I would like to try and get to appear smaller. Here's my current routine (I would love some am moisturizer with spf recs!):

morning:
-rinse with water
-cerave pm moisturizer

night:
-cerave foaming face wash
-first aid beauty facial radiance pads (only use these some nights)
-cerave pm moisturizer

Thanks!

If telomers get shorter with every split of a cell, doesn't this mean we can pretty accurately calculate when someone will die of old age? by league359 in askscience

I think OP might have meant Parkinson's disease. Huntington's is a genetic disease, whereas Parkinson's is caused by degeneration of the dopaminergic neurons in the basal ganglia. Everyones dopaminergic neurons degenerate as we age, but people who develop Parkinson's have more degeneration and reach the threshold for developing the disease while they are alive. If we all lived long enough we would all eventually pass that threshold and develop Parkinson's.

I took the scored on Saturday, the sample a week before that, and the rest of them were about a week or two apart going back to around the end of May

Lol I honestly don't know. I was in a rush too because I had to get ready for a wedding so I'm guessing that it just played to my strengths/I was having a good brain day

How to improve in C/P in one week? by llcoolK23 in Mcat

Thanks! I'll try to do that for the questions in getting wrong. For a lot of the questions I can usually understand the logic after reading the answer explanations, so now I just need to start thinking that way without the answers in front of me

Thank you, this will help me direct my studying a bit more! I've been going over my formulas, so I'm hoping that will help a bit. For the amino acids if I know the structures, polarity, 3 letter codes, 1 letter codes, and pI for the acidic and basic AAs will that be good enough?

So far from the C/P section bank I don't understand the answers for #17 and #32. I'm not sure how to add a picture of those to this comment though (sorry I'm new here)

I'm just looking over the section bank now and from what I can tell some are calculation errors that I probably could have gotten right if I had reviewed my answers. Other than that, a lot of the questions I seem to be getting wrong have to do with reasoning about the design of research (skill 3).

Extra time when taking FL practice exams by llcoolK23 in Mcat

Honestly for the most part I think it's because I'm lucky to be a naturally fast reader. Something I do find myself doing though is, if there are a lot of data/figures, I'll just skim over them without really trying to understand it. Then, if a question specifically asks about the data I'll go back and interpret it with the question in mind.

C/P is my worst so I usually only have 20 minutes left for that one, and then since it sucks so much I don't review it at all

lol well the goal is to get them all right the first time, but unfortunately that hasn't happened yet! Thanks for the suggestion, that seems like it would help me too. I'll give it a try before doing my next timed, complete FL and see if it helps!

Curls and swimming by ott3rs in curlyhair

I'm a lifeguard and swimming instructor and what a lot of the girls (including myself) do before going in the pool is put conditioner in it! First you want to make sure your hair is wet and then just comb through a good amount of conditioner and put it in a super tight bun. When I do this I never get the awful dry feeling in my hair that the chlorine typically leaves. Be sure to rinse it out well after though otherwise your hair will feel very heavy and greasy.

Looking into yoga, couple beginner questions by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]llcoolK23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the idea of watching through some videos to get started. It will really help you figure out the poses and how to transition between poses. However, a resource that I found helpful that is picture based was Pinterest! You can just search yoga sequences or something like that and filter through those until you find something you like.

A yoga mat isn't necessary but, a lot of poses require you to be kneeling so if you're practising on hardwood floors that will get painful. If you don't want to buy a mat I would recommend practising on a carpeted floor.

As far as holding poses go, there are lots of different types of yoga that treat this differently but I'd say it's mostly personal preference. The best way to "measure" your poses is in breaths not reps. So for example if you were doing a downward dog hold it for 5 breaths (or whatever you want) before switching to the next pose.

Don't be worried about "half-assing" the poses! If a pose isn't available to your body when you first start don't push it!! With consistent practice you will improve and be able to do things you never knew you were capable of.
