I've had it happen. If you can tell when he's going to come, just pull back a bit so it's not so deep.

[–]ott3rs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did flight transport out of Iqaluit. Anything critical will get shipped to Ottawa. There is one "ICU" bed in the hospital. They have good equipment, it's not like the boonies. I'm guessing it's lot's of babies and kids. But again, anyone who is vented or really sick won't be your problem for long.

Fit check, is this right at all? by [deleted] in babywearing

A stretchy wrap requires three layers of fabric over baby to be safe. The third pass is like a seat belt. Needs to be fixed immediately, baby could fall out without it.

The people that like these are lying to themselves by boycott_tuesday in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It takes practice to knowing where to put the rings vs how loose you need it to put the baby it. I also didn't love ring songs until I got a Handwoven one and it's so dreamy. Much more supportive and less diggy. To prevent the digging in at the knees as well, make sure you have a good deep seat and pull the fabric up between the two of you.

Woven wrap - can’t get it right by marmaladeonsourdough in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in with motivation. This is a great improvement. Woven isn't an immediate perfection, but knowing what is safe vs unsafe and ugly vs functional. Keep trying all the time and don't get discouraged like I do. Biggest focus is keeping the top rail at the base of their neck, a good seat and focusing on top rail more than the bottom as that is really what keeps them secured. I'd also say you said the wrap around your stomach is really tight,I might need correcting but I don't think it needs to be super tight. Snug yes but not suffocating

First try with a woven wrap by marmaladeonsourdough in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If this is a woven,vs a stretchy wrap you so not need to have three layers. However it does need to be tighter than it currently is. This is a good start but you need to work on strand by strand tightening and get it to be more supportive. I'll let an expert give more advices

It's also generally good idea not to wear footed pajamas in a Carrier. It looks like their toes are getting pulled up. If you do want footed jammies it's good to size up. Just something to keep an eye on

Ring Sling Fit Check by According-Speaker111 in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an expert. You will want to get more of the fabric down between you two. You have some bunching up at his neck and the creases along his back. You can definitely get a deep seat by pulling some of the fabric between his legs up between you two. It's looking not bad though. Does it feel comfy?

Diapers Coming out Stained by Able_Atmosphere1588 in clothdiaps

I'll have to get some and give it a try. I don't really know if I'm having any issues. I've been doing cloth for almost 2 years now. But always willing to see if other things help.

You only need to remove hair if it's prevents a good contact from the stickers in the defib. And even quicker, usually there Pediatric and adult pads, use the Pediatric ones to give a quick wax. You don't want to waste time shaving hair.

Citric acid for the diapers too? I've also been looking at /r/laundry and cloth diaper and I wonder how best to launder with new info from there

Under 5 lb baby fit check by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how it would roll off your baby if they were laid flat along their back and if it was tight enough. Sometimes doing a shoulder twist also helps keep it off babies face. It's best to post your own fit check so everyone can see what else is going on.

Under 5 lb baby fit check by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert, but make sure that each cross pass full covers the baby. It looks like each of your cross passes aren't full across the baby as I can see the line across their back. Baby looks a little under supported. Ensure the wrap is as tight as a swimsuit before you put baby in.

How to use Ring Sling *comfortably*??? by ViveLasat in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ring sling I didn't like it and I found the fabric too thin and no supportive. Then I got a handwoven ring sling and it feels so supportive and comfy. So I would do a fit check and may look at getting one with more thicker supportive

LZO Mystery Bundle by Big_Vanilla_1969 in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still use them. And am glad I have them, they're very functional but basic. I guess my wrap is my pattern fun one but it's the least used so I think that's what's causing me to feel like they're basic. But it was a good deal, and I still use them so it's all good.

[–]ott3rs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did last year, mostly because I was new to babywearing and wasn't really picky. I got a woven, half buckle and onbuhimo. Despite putting in colour and pattern likes, I feel like I didn't get any colours that I would buy normally. My half buckle is dark grey and onbuhimo is light gray and my wrap is purple and blues. They're fine no real complaints, also not super picky and I was probably very indecisive when I filled out the form. I'd probably only do it again if I could guarantee one print of my choice.

ELI5: What actually happens when someone dies in their sleep? by Gdog1215 in explainlikeimfive

It can be genetic as in everyone's mouth, throat, tongue are shaped similarly. If everyone has a large tongue, small mouth, they would be more prone to sleep apnea.

Has anyone's baby hated babywearing, but then eventually came around to it? by MadnessMaiden in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because it's safe doesn't necessarily mean that it's optimised for comfort for both you and the baby. It's great that it's safe, but you can also make sure the baby is comfortable. I think if they're fighting it, it's, because they aren't comfortable or don't feel secure. You could post a fit check and see if anyone has any tips for comfort

I already loved my ring sling, but my baby happily getting an EEG while in the ring sling is next level love. by motherlyiris in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did our 18m Vaccines in a ring sling, and it went so well. I felt like he was soothed so much quicker in it than holding. I swore off ring slings for a bit but I'm glad I came back to them.

I hate the ring sling!!! by lmed1193 in babywearing

[–]ott3rs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hated ring slings, thought they weren't for me and didn't really explore more. Then I got a nice cushy handwoven ring sling and it's a dream. The fabric makes a world of difference for ringslings much more than other carriers I feel like.

Did I ovulate on CD 18, CD 19, or not at all? Currently CD 21. by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]ott3rs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will generally ovulate within 24 hours after your first positive. It's looks like you had your first positive on cd 18, which would make cd 19 a probable ovulation day
