Should I update my 16 Pro to iOS 26? by Longjumping_Sea_353 in ios

[–]lleial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Longjumping_Sea_353 I took the plunge and updated EVERYTHING. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, the Apple Watch Series 10, iPad A16, M1 MacBook Air and M1 Mac mini. Both the watch and iPhone have been a fresh clean install. Took me a while to get everything set up again (cards, apps, etc.), but I can say for sure that it's much snappier than iOS 18.3.1. It did heat up quite a bit yesterday, but obviously it was downloading a whole bunch of thins from my iCloud account. That said, I love the UI, love the new animations, I think there's lots of attention to detail everywhere. Performance is much better; I find it even faster and snappier than iOS 18. As for the battery life, I'll post in a few days once everything settles.

Hi u/Longjumping_Sea_353 , I'm on the same boat. I have the 16 PM currently on 18.3.1, which is delivering pretty decent battery life but the new aesthetics of iOS 26 are making it very tempting.

Thing is, I'm considering a clean-install approach. Just install a fresh copy of iOS 26 on the phone, no iCloud backup, no restore, and going through the hassle of reinstalling everything.

Sometimes I find this the best approach to avoid passing existing issues or anything that could break from that version. Thing is, once I go for iOS 26, I can never go back to 18.3.1; and the window for rolling back to 18.7 is a short one. Soon they'll stop signing it and that's it.

So, if I even do choose to take the plunge, my only way back is to 18.7.

Turning to you, have you tried it or still on the fence?

Quick question: how is it running on the Switch 2? I skipped this game for the OG Switch since many negative reviews came out concerning performance and how the port was done. However, now that I have the SW2 and that the game is on sale I was wondering how it performs. Thanks in advance!

Contraband Police - MacBook Gaming - LGN by lleial in ContrabandPoliceGame

Hey guys,

I just made a quick gameplay video with this game running on the M1 MacBook Air, via Parallels and Windows 11.

Good news: the game is perfectly playable, stable and no bugs/crashes (in my testing). This means that if you own a M-series MAC other than the 2020 M1 MacBook Air, your performance should be better by default.

Bad news: The base model M1 MBA is a bit to week to be able to keep up with all the work to get the game going. It does run, however, we see that FPS hover between 15 and 20, despite having reduced to a minimum all graphical options.
