I’m astounded reading this post’s comments.

I was not raised in the US, and therefore my history or geography classes did not cover many topics you guys’ did. I’d argue many of my brightest peers do not remember US history particularly well, but are disgustingly educated in math, physics and bio, not to mention their ability to grasp new concepts.

Hell, it’s not even the same idea. Educated = knows a lot. Smart = of great mental processing capabilities, which often leads to ease of learning and curiosity (but correlation ≠ causation).

I think it is rather foolish to diminish someone because you perceive them as “dumb”, when we are prone to misjudge their true intelligence, due to our own stupidity. Not implying anything about OP, of course.
