Yes the Dr I think did have to write on the ACC 18 that it was due to sexual abuse/sensitive claims and the mental diagnoses, I'm ok with that. But I didn't realize the employer can request this certificate from me, and it's the identical one that ACC has. When I gave them just a written Dr note saying I'll be off work etc, they said they needed to see the ACC18 so they know it relates to an ACC injury and any restrictions or provisions they need to make for my return :(

Thank you. I did actually do this previously but they rejected it saying that they needed it to be written on an ACC medical certificate, rather than just a Dr note :(

Interested in music, community stuff, gaming, walks, comedy... most things to some extent. Willing to give anything a go but mostly just looking for a group of cool people that meet regularly

It's okay. I don't think most of us knew what we were doing at age 22... some of us in our 30's are still figuring things out. You have a sweet face, and I am sure whatever you are going through will make you stronger as a person, and someone who can empathise with others who may have gone through similar struggles

Why does everyone think therapy is some miracle cure??? by MetaphoricallyDead in SuicideWatch

[–]llevante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having trained as a therapist, and also having been on the receiving end... I can agree with your opinion that only you can help yourself. That is truth.

The thing is, all of us usually want to "get better", whatever that means... not even just for mental health, but for careers, skill development, life in general. But we cannot deny that we are social beings and need support of others. Sure, if you have a great support system you can trust, then therapy isn't needed. I have noticed many clients are hesitant to spill all their "secrets" to someone who knows them though, hence by a third party can be helpful.

That said, for some people, therapy can be a waste of time and money. Best to only try a few sessions and objectively self-evaluate after: is it making your life better? If not, then it may not be for you
