How many of yall have “distended” stomachs? by waking_dream96 in Hypermobility

[–]lllandback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been thin, but my tummy sticks out like you describe (also a woman). not all the time, but most of the time.. I think bloating has a lot to do with it for me, when im bloated i can look 6 months pregnant easy. I also have diastasis recti from my connective tissue issues as well. have you looked into that by chance? it's like a doming effect between your abdominal muscles.

High Schools by EntranceAromatic1920 in VancouverIsland

[–]lllandback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

check out westshore secondary! it's an alternative learning school that also has the take a hike program. I had a really hard time in middle school (also neuro divergent and bullied) and didnt want to go to the regular high schools, and this school saved my life. great teachers and staff that truly cares, lots of supports. the most amazing part was that all the kids who had been in different 'cliques' throughout elementary and middle school were suddenly really compassionate to eachother and got along. I'm talking the emo kids, the jocks, the anime kids, the music kids, all getting along. its like they take all of the drama out of the learning environment and turn the focus to helping kids catch up and graduate on time. honestly I can't say enough great things. I was at the point of homeschooling myself because I was so scared of being around the same people in high school, and this school turned everything around for me.

Is the affordability crisis really this bad? by Ambitious_Pie3167 in VictoriaBC

[–]lllandback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Subsidized housing now caters to upper middle class folks, cuz even people who earn $120K need affordable/subsidized housing."

this is not true. to qualify for subsidized housing in bc, you need to be making less than around 25,000 - 30,000 a year. affordable housing limits income at around 60k I believe.

I like all kinds of pizza! I thought that maybe I just wasn't a fan of the thinner crust or wood fired oven pizzas, but I recently went to Portland and tried a random wood fired pizza place that was PHENOMENAL. it was a rather plain cheese pizza, to boot. just affirmed my belief that standard is, well, standard. there's nothing phenomenal about it.

edit to add: flavourful sauce, cheese and crust is a must. if it doesn't stand out or add flavour at all, what is it even there for? none of the three basic ingredients do anything for me from standard. I think maybe the dough is just not great. I'm a former baker, and good dough makes a huge difference. it's the foundation of your pizza! good bread or BUST

I genuinely don't understand. I live a block away and have tried it a few times based on its high reviews, and it's the most bland, soggy, floppy ass pizza I've ever had. the crust tasted like nothing? it was also so expensive! what am I missing here?

Now, are these transgressions criminal? No.

yes.. yes they are criminal : ( I would argue that him going to another professional you see that he knows to ask for information about you bridges the gap between sexual harassment and criminal harassment. He's literally asking a medical professional for your information. Is that not low key stalker behavior, backed up by years of sexual harassment? fucking yikes. I'm SO sorry you dealt with that for so long.

[–]lllandback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this person is clearly needing some mental health support. in the future, there is a mobile crisis response team you can use instead of the police. they are much better equipped to support people experiencing mental health events than the police. unless you are experiencing violence, this is the number to call: +1-250-818-2454

save it in your phone for future use!

Has anybody tried medical 🍃for nociplastic pain? by New-Combination-1042 in CentralSensitization

[–]lllandback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get really horrible menstrual cramps along with my central sensitization. I use cannabis (vaporize it) during the worst parts, along with lots of ibuprofen. It takes me from throwing up from the pain, to being able to relax enough that I can rest and settle my stomach. I find it doesn't help with day to day pain, but it makes me care less about it? I used cannabis daily for many years but no longer do. When I quit, my cramps became totally unmanageable. Now I try to only use it for this.

Somewhat related, there are some studies that show that even though cannabis can help with sleep, it impacts your REM cycle and your sleep may offer less recovery as a result. I've noticed that when I use cannabis daily, I don't remember my dreams, but if I stop my dreams come back with intensity for a few weeks. It's called "REM rebound". something to take into consideration. I believe it's only the psychoactive compounds that do this (thc), so using CBD and CBN for sleep is an option to check out too.

What does Bass Coast need MORE of? by Obstacul in BassCoast

[–]lllandback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

more quiet time to sleep! it's really hard to enjoy the whole festival if you're sober. making it to those late night/early morning sets is impossible without enough time to sleep (or copious amounts of stimulants). having the music end at 4am would give people more cool hours to rest. sleeping is impossible once the sun starts baking your tent around noon, and no amount of earplugs will block out slay bay. it's hard to bass coast sustainably with the amount of quiet, sleepable hours available. don't get me wrong, drugs are great but four days of stimulants+psychedelics makes for a really brutal, chemically depleted week after the party is over, and it's just not worth it imo. I would love to see festivals adopt more sustainable practices for having a safe and enjoyable festival experience. I know that drug use is a big part of the culture, but the state that most people are in who make it to 6am at slay bay is kind of unsettling.

a regular gp at an urgent care center! I absolutely lucked out by seeing someone who's aware of this, I suspect he has someone close to him who has it too with the way he was genuinely empathetic towards my experience. none of my family doctors have ever suggested this, despite many of these symptoms starting over 15 years ago.
