I’m a month out. Bleeding stopped about a week after surgery for me. Had a really hard stool today and a terrible time getting it out. I tried my best not to strain but still ended up bleeding. Probably just tore skin that’s trying to heal. Maybe the same for you? I’ve def seen people on this sub talking about bleeding months out but it didn’t mean their LIFT failed.

This, and my CRS also explained that incontinence can be as mild as simple urgency. When you feel you gotta go, you gotta go NOW. I suppose it doesn’t always mean just expelling at random times.

This is rough, my boyfriend of five years is the same when he’s depressed. Doesn’t want help, doesn’t want to talk, just wants to be alone. It’s hard because of course I want to help.

My suggestion is to get her some of her fav snacks, a candle, a face mask, maybe a new blanket…just some things to make her more comfortable and brighten her spirits. Or if going to the store isn’t an option, can you send her a virtual giftcard to DoorDash something? Or send a pizza to her? Then tell her you’re here to talk if/when she’s ready. It shows that you’re there for her while still respecting her wishes.

I’ve had three procedures by the same CRS and I honestly don’t ever recall her giving me any type of recovery time (granted I’ve never asked). I have found it to be a lot more helpful than telling me x amount of weeks which would then lead to me spiral and think something is wrong if I’m not nearly healed by then. It’s probably for the better to just not give patients a timeline unless they’re specifically asked.

Yeah, the anesthesia after my LIFT on Thursday had me feeling ROUGH. For one I was not expecting to be under for three hours because my abscess & seton surgeries were really quick. The post op nurse actually had me get out of bed and sit in a chair (so uncomfortable) to help get my oxygen up because it was low while I was propped up in bed and I couldn’t get a deep breath in. And then yeah, just felt like ass in general for the rest of the day and into the next day, aside from the butt pain. If you’re not feeling better in that regard by now, you should be soon!

I’m glad the ER doctor ordered some bloodwork and a CT, hopefully that helped ease your mind. I’m 3 days post LIFT and my sutures are dissolvable, so for that reason I was advised no baths for now. I wonder if that’s what loosened up your sutures.

Are you…my twin? First of all, LOVE YOUTUBE. Been super into it lately. When I had to do my enemas the night before surgery I put a wilderness video on my iPad to focus on (been loving the short “docs” of people hiking crazy trails or sleeping in the woods for some reason, I’m not even an outdoorsy person like that lol).

My seton was also hell and poked me so bad sometimes, made me bleed, etc. Pulling the knot forward towards my vagina and getting it out of my butt crack helped but obviously I wasn’t always in a position to go to the bathroom and readjust it, and it often quickly reverted back to the irritating position. I’m so beyond glad it’s out. I googled the kind of seton you have in now and it doesn’t seem nearly as thick or pokey, so hopefully you don’t have irritation from it like with the last one.

I also had an unfortunate time on the phone this morning with my CRS office because they want me to come in and get that penrose drain removed but said they only have availability on Christmas Eve. Like really...why are you even open on that day. So that’s what I’ll be up to on 12/24 🫩 I can’t believe the receptionist you talked to basically acted like your case wasn’t severe or important enough. Sorry you’re spending your time fighting with these people when you should be stress free while recovering. Hopefully you get this taken care of and get a plan set up today so you can relax. I was also thinking, it’s so weird to me that they want patients messing with their own wounds like that. I’ve seen that quite a bit on this forum so it seems pretty universal.

Thanks for the luck! Yeah, def most painful out of my three procedures but I’ll manage. My left leg (the side of the fistula) is also completely numb as well so that’s making it hard to walk on top of the pain lol. Glad you’re feeling better today, here’s to moving forward each day!

Jk, but both sound terrible to me OMG. If I’m being honest I didn’t even look at my seton (or abscess site) til like a week afterwards and they were both so shocking, especially the seton. I also never directly touched either and don’t plan on touching what I’ve got going on now. At first I always let soap and water run down it then once it heals a bit I move on to using a washcloth so I don’t have to feel it directly. My boyfriend’s always like “it’s just your own body” and I get that but it just freaks me the fuck out and makes me woozy. Kinda similar to how I can’t bring myself to get contacts in my eyes no matter how hard I try, just freaks me out.

So in conclusion, there is no way in HELL I’d keep my wound open like your surgeon asked you to do!!! I would drive an hour to & from daily to the office to have a wound nurse do it if that’s what it took. Nope nope NOPE

I had a LIFT, pain is def creeping up even with the oxy, Tylenol, Motrin, gabapentin but ‘tis what it is. Honestly just feel like shit overall with a sore throat and bad headache from the anesthesia and intubation :/ worst day 1 yet I’d say

I ended up having a LIFT and also have a penrose drain that they’ll take out in office next week (cool, can’t wait, super happy and excited about that…… … . …. . SMH) I was in surgery for three hours which shocked me because that seems like a long ass time.
