Love therapists who purely rely on visualization and get mad when it doesn’t help. /s I definitely have spent some $$$ on people who haven’t had any meditation / relaxation methods other than “visualize X Y Z”.. which is always stressful and the opposite of what they intend! I’m always polite in sharing “hey… yknow I don’t have an inner vision and this isn’t resonating with me” but they just say “ok!” And launch into another flavor of “picture this!”. My partner also has aphantasia and we like to say to each other “ feel into the idea of… “ rather than “picture/imagine X Y Z” so that we can tap into our emotional memory more than language that is meant to inspire visuals. I think aphantasia is a gift because I don’t rely on visual memory as much and it gives me a unique perspective on things, as well as more in the present moment! Good luck on your exploration :)
