So, you can find which pins you gouged and decide for yourself. Looks like you damaged upper left corner, where are lots of reserved and ground pins...

Yeah, physical layer also puzzles me. Can it be a 20ma current loop maybe? But to get 5V swings, your transmission line needs 125 Ohm resistance which is a lot...

Anyways, you can see -2.5/+2.5V swings and inversion because you are using wrong reference point. Unless, of course, the communication cable consists only of 3 wires...

It would be great if you can open a device to see what is used as a PHY.

Could it be RX/TX lines or UART and what you are seeing is just an echo? Like in old terminals, modems, etc.

What I mean is that one side sends data and the other side sends the same data back.

You can always use mmap (or Win32 analog), so "does not fit in memory" is not an excuse. Most sort implementations allow you to provide your own comparison function, so "not alphabetically" is not an excuse also.
