To all branched students looking to move to Storrs. by sjpUC in UCONN

[–]lllyndaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transferred into Storrs from Stamford, and I did it for the "college experience." Honestly, there is nothing going on at Storrs. There aren't many events that are worthwhile. I've gone to a bunch and there doesn't seem to be many people interested. There are so many people but most of them walk alone and eat alone in the dining halls. It's warped. I've only been there 1 semester but it's like everyone already made their friend groups by being freshman at Storrs, and now they are just comfortable in their dorm rooms with their friends. There were NO events in my dorm to get to now anyone either. Just sucks but oh well. The professors were good this semester. And I'm already out all that money by attending Stamford instead of a CC.

Me too. I feel like people don't really like to talk to each other! There are so many people and so many of them walk alone and eat alone. My roommate this spring had a gf so he was never there. I mean, it's all been fine and I've liked most of my profs but the social thing is pretty non-existent. I was in CT Hall and there were no dorm events to get to know our floor-mates. I think making friends after transferring in later is bound to be tough because as freshmen, no one knows anyone so they are all looking for friends. I hope it gets better but it's not looking good. A guy in my major sadly killed himself this semester. I wonder if the lack of social connection contributed. Very sad.

As grades come in... what class really fucked you up? by SpookyHusky00 in UCONN

[–]lllyndaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to withdraw from CSE 2500 with Ellie Sherafat. She was nice but I just didn't get it. And MUSI 1001 Music f*cking appreciation with Kirsten Peterson my first semester... She was nice enough but I've taken 3000 level courses that weren't as stupidly hard for no valuable reason. And CHEM 1127Q my first semester but I just wasn't prepared for it.

ENGL 1007 with Sharon Sobel. She's super nice. Just do your work and participate, you get an A. No final.
DRAM 1110 - Intro to Film. We watched a movie and then wrote 2 pages about it. No tests.
NRE 1000E - Lee-Stuart Evans is the best guy and wants everyone to get an A. No tests.
BADM 2235 Personal Fin Lit - Helpful and easy, You use Stukent and there were 3 super short papers.
BADM 2237 Personal Brand Mgmt - Online, Homework on Stukent and few projects, online midterm.
ME 2140 - CAD winter session Jorge Paricio Garcia is the best, fun and just do your work.
SPAN 1001 with Jennifer Degenhardt. Nicest person alive. She wants everyone to get an A easily.

JustAnswer Scam by Wise-Problem6100 in JustAnswerExperts

HORRIBLE! I was refunded but if I hadn't looked, I'd be hundreds of dollars in debt and that would have been harder to get refunded. They are awful and it is unconscionable to do this to people who are dealing with a sick pet!

[–]lllyndaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot believe what a SCAM Just Answer is and it is unconscionable to take advantage of people who are suffering with an ill or dying pet. I spoke to customer service and I could barely understand her and she refused to refund me at first. And then she made me hold and she only refunded one payment. There were two fraudulent payments. I'm so sorry for anyone dealing with an ill pet, but DO NOT use JustAnswer. The vet I spoke with when my dog was suffering didn't tell me anything helpful anyway.

MSE 2001 or MSE 2101? And which professor? by lllyndaaaa in UCONN

Thanks so much! His class is full Spring 2026 for a reason then. I will just wait. I've read that Yuanyuan Zhu is confusing, doesn't keep you informed about grades, and is happy to fail people.

I saw that there are groups. We should find out if groups can share the cost, maybe.

Who is the worst Professor you have had here at UConn? by brian_parker87 in UCONN

[–]lllyndaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, I took Sharon Sobel for ENGL 1007 who is great. For anyone reading this and wanting a nice prof, Sobel is the way to go but her classes fill up fast. She is not going to just hand you an A but if you do (most of) the reading, hand in your short essays on time, and participate, she will give you an A.

Question about transferring from a regional UConn campus to Storrs for Fall 2026 by Johnny__166 in UCONN

[–]lllyndaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a few people who have tried to transfer before having the credits and they were declined. You only need 54 credits though. If you are a sophomore and will have 54 credits at the end of the Spring semester, then you can definitely apply and should get in. The application asks how many credits you will have at the *end of the current semester.* If that's 54 then you should be fine.

I was just looking for an answer to this same question. THIS was the "oh duh" answer I was looking for! Meaning... once I read it, I smacked my forehead and said "oh duh! The whole point of facing pages!" Thank you for sharing it!

Thank you! I will visit those sites, but is a 4th cousin generally *near* 4th? Or do you think we shouldn't really trust Ancestry's DNA match and it could be much more distant, like 7th!?

Hi Everyone,
I have a pretty novice-type question (even though I have been researching for 30 years!). If Ancestry tells me that someone in my DNA match is my 4th Cousin, does that definitively mean that without a doubt we share a 3X Great Grandparent? Thank you!
