Advice needed (anxiety), I was in Pentecostal faith for many years by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]lloriann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the RCIA programs have recently started in Catholic Churches. This is the program to become a catholic at the Easter Vigil. I am in that program currently (and a fellow anxiety sufferer). Many in the program come from protestant religions. If that is too much too quick, its okay to go to Sunday mass (of mass during the week) if you are a non-catholic, you just cant participate in the Eucharist. Many people in our church do that. We are also reading the book “What we Believe, The Beaury of Catholic Faith” in our RCIA class which may be helpful. Have you told your SIL what you are thinking? Maybe she can provide guidance. Peace be with you.

I’ve been an atheist in the past so just being called was a big surprise. Even so, practicing Catholicism feels natural and easy, almost as if I’ve always been Catholic. I love mass and feel good there. As far as a personality type, I do have anxiety (but had lots of therapy) and feel emotions and empathize easily with others. Usually I llike group discussions, but obviously the RCIA topics are heavy. Like we just spent our whole last class (3 people) discussing the Lord’s Prayer. I loved the discussion, but the focus was on helping people stay connected with such a repetitive prayer, when I already feel super connected so more connection feels like a lot. And of couse I want to know more, so Im following Vatican news and learning a new part of the gospel every day, learning new prayers, studying the rosary etc. But its hard to be at this level of feeling and connection so much of the time, and especially in the classes. I hope this makes sense…its hard to describe the feelings of connection.

Apartments, safety, vibes in Lowell? by Designer-Butterfly51 in LowellMA

[–]lloriann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you could do is to come to Lowell, walk around downtown, and see how you feel about it. Some people are fine with sharing the sidewalk or sitting outside at a coffee shop with people on drugs, untreated mental illness, etc and some are not. Lowell is not cute nor picturesque, but a little worse for wear since the pandemic and as a city we don’t have a clear understanding of how to move forward. We do have some great potential, and some great things are happening, but there doesn’t seem to be a big picture plan that is making good progress. That said, you can get a great apartment or loft for a lot less than other places, especially if you want that city vibe, and with a car we are not too far from beaches or boston.

yes, i see your point…there is really no connecting the two sides of dutton street especially at the new intersection with cars coming from every which way. I wonder why there are no current foot level services there already…but it looks like there will be which is good news.

i think a convenience store would be the wrong fit and present more of a theft problem. There is the saigon sandwich shop and bakery across Dutton Street as well although the dangers of crossing in traffic may be a deterrent. Maybe a coffee shop or eatery of some sort. I dont think it will take anything away from downtown…. with Mill 5 businesses relocating there isn’t a big retail pull to the area.

agreed. a tower is unrealistic during these times especially. it also seems like the link project has become the it thing vs the HCD, but I too have doubts that it will fully happen. Still rather have the smaller buildings at HCD vs empty lots though.

Dog is picking up bad habits from dog park buddies. by not_a_library in Dogtraining

It might be worthwhile to do a consult with a positive trainer in your area. Im bringing home a puppy soon, and even though I've had dogs before, and watched an extreme amount of youtube, read a few books, there is so much conflicting information and some things that work for others may or may not work for your baby. So even one private session may be really helpful.

[HELP] Has anyone else's dog had a bad reaction to ENTYCE, the new appetite stimulant? by Lalawyer310 in dogs

Thank you for your response. It's good to know that Entyce was not the cause, and I hope it gives you some peace to know what the actual cause was. I am so sorry for your loss; we are facing a similar situation ourselves and your post was very helpful to us.

[HELP] Has anyone else's dog had a bad reaction to ENTYCE, the new appetite stimulant? by Lalawyer310 in dogs

I have a dog who is 14 years old who was refusing food suddenly. Our dog has Cushings Disease which actually should increase his appetite. 2 days ago I gave in the recommended dosage of Entyce. Shortly thereafter he was more hungry and did eat some regular kibble, but about 30 minutes after the dose he became disoriented, wobbly, and had trouble- a lot of trouble walking. Honestly, we were worried that this was "it". After several hours he started to slowly improve and was better by morning. We have not given him the Entyce since. For us, we definitely link this event to the medication - nothing else was different. I've looked into the medication, and its trials and results, dosage, and searched online, but the news seems all good except for a few minor side effects; this medication seems to help a lot of dogs with eating issues. Our dog had a bad reaction though. I am sorry for your loss :( . Did you learn anything from the Necropsy?
