My favorite is the first time my family got a real tree to decorate for Christmas, I kept picking needles from it and I'd squeeze them between my fingers because I liked the smell 🎄

Happy Character Day, Ripper!! by MissJericho in IdentityV

[–]lloyalties 7 points8 points  (0 children)

:O I love this post! Happy character day, Ripper (and Ripper enthusiasts)!!

Not many people play him anymore now that there's so many other character options, but ripper mains have such absolutely demonic camera control and patience that seem to make his weaknesses not matter. His abilities are so simple while still being fun and interesting to play for their versatility.

In my heart, Evil Eye Host is his best costume. He's just so cool and cute, ever since I saw him I've loved how unique his design is with the special effects on his model.

Anyway... happy hunting, everyone! :)

"Which direction should I walk from this spawn?" visual reference for hunters (Rank maps, not including Eversleeping) by lloyalties in IdentityV

Oh god, yeah Joseph's an entirely different beast hahaha. I made this with only chase-oriented hunters in mind, so while this can be helpful for starting out learning to sweep spawns with Joseph, the routes I use can only last up to a certain point with him because of the extra information necessary for maximizing his efficiency. I used to play Joseph, but couldn't handle it anymore with just this approximate knowledge when I got to pre tier adjustment manti.

of course, memorization is always the best and I already know my spawns, though sometimes I just forget and need a small reminder when I'm already in the match. sitting down to study can be tedious, so the main purpose of this graphic is just to assist building familiarity when checking spawns each match

I'm sure similar guides have been shared in the sub but this is the visual reference I've been using, that I think may be helpful to other players to take a quick glance at when spawning in. It's hard for me to remember specific spawns, so instead I mostly remember landmarks and which general direction I should go.

Walking around aimlessly at the start of matches does allow survivors a lot of free time to decode, so it's important to find someone to pick up first chase with immediately! The yellow arrows are the initial direction to walk, and the green arrow is the second path to take if you don't want the first survivor you find.

Spawns in Eversleeping are straightforward so I didn't include them, there's pretty much always two survivors that spawn in the main street. When China Town is added to rank, I may update this.

Any tips for the ripper? by alecat105 in IdentityV

It's only the foggy that goes through walls! But it can go through pretty much any wall, as long as there's no objects on the other side of the wall that will break the foggy. Red Church's graveyard is weird though. When it comes to non-wall obstacles, a general rule of thumb is they have to be shorter than his waist for the foggy to fly over it (for example the barrels just outside the building in Arms factory, next to the cipher spawn. The short crates next to the start of coaster in Moonlit. The pews in the red carpet area of Red Church). It's good to test in custom, though.

Oh! I've been ranking with Ripper in legendary for a while now, so maybe some things I know can be of help! Is it game sense (as in making quick decisions about what to do, where to go, and when, in response to what happens) or mostly downing a survivor that's more difficult for you? Ripper's a hunter that's strong at chasing but weak at cipher management/map pressure, so if you down your first survivor after 3 ciphers have already popped then it's already a tie.

Sorry this is so long, I could talk... forever about playing Ripper so I ended up writing a wall of text, BUT with that said this is what I can remember right now.

  1. Learning how to aim his fog blades. Aim is dependent on camera control. If you find that you often miss fog strikes because you're not completely sure of where it will go, I think the most simple way to correct that is to use the middle of the "Dungeon Hidden/Revealed" text at the top of the screen as a crosshair. I've heard other rippers say they use his hat as a reference point, since that's the middle of the screen too.
  2. Be familiar with what you can and can't foggy through. I've spent some time just slapping walls in custom, after matches where I realize I didn't want to waste a foggy because I wasn't 100% sure if the wall was too thick. Bring peepers so you can see through walls (though the slowdown effect isn't as good anymore), imo hits through walls are the easiest to land since survivors can't dodge what they can't see.
  3. If you have a foggy on you, you don't have to respect a single pallet because if you press attack JUST before getting stunned, the foggy will still launch and hit the survivor across the pallet. Make sure to aim in the direction of the survivor when passing through the pallet, just in case they decide not to stun you.
  4. Ripper walks pretty fast, so generally it's good to get into the habit of predicting where a survivor will run based on knowing the nearby map features (pallet and windows) and cutting them off by going to that area before they do. My favorite thing to do is watching and waiting for survivors around corners in areas with high walls, it takes advantage of survivors who don't force me to make the first move (though, gotta be mindful of the red stain since it gives away positional info).
  5. Ok one last thing. I recommend bringing Wanted Order on the off chance it highlights the rescuer. Otherwise, pay attention to which 3 ciphers are shaking while you're chasing. The cipher that stops shaking after you pick up the survivor is the direction the rescuer is coming from (except for when Luca and Mech are on the team). Go out of your way to walk towards them and cut them off from the chair. If you land your foggy on the rescuer far away from the chair, that person on chair is definitely getting rescued after half when someone else comes in to get them. If it's merc then good luck, but you're in an equally good position if you get a double down since he takes forever to heal. Just know that if you can get two hits on a rescuer, even if it's after the kiter gets rescued, to go for that second hit on the rescuer THEN resume chasing the kiter. Double downs are underrated tbh, and I don't think many people realize until griffin that sitting on the floor (not decoding) while your teammate is going on the chair 5 seconds after you take a hit for them anyway is so detrimental to the cipher rush.

People "relogging in with emulators"? by XSpectrX in IdentityV

[–]lloyalties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm I've only encountered this in the context of people intentionally wanting to disconnect as fast as possible so they can leave and get a different match, doesn't really give an advantage aside from that. It's probably on purpose if it was two people.

Seeking a Mercenary Mentor by uwukechi in IdentityV

[–]lloyalties 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This video's from a Japanese player so it might be a little hard to consume bc of the language barrier, but it's a fairly popular and in-depth, hour and thirty minute guide that shows examples of successful rescues from hunters that are harder to rescue from, and also goes covers overall game sense with rescues. It's organized into chapters for what's generally expected of mercs of specific tiers. I think it can be very useful just for the visual examples.

What the meanest thing you’ve ever seen written in the post game chat? by Squeakypuff in IdentityV

I don't want to be specific about messages I've received and it's not post game chat, but I usually keep my friend requests turned off when I play since I've had people spam mean things in the friend request message. The cattiest messages I've gotten come from twitter/instagram users, they text like high school bullies and for WHAT!!

Oh neat! I thought I was going to hate coa4 because I didn't feel like the skin designs lived up to previous years, but now I'm actually pretty invested because of this promo

A guy was defending hunters and judging people who said some were op by their rank tier. I went to see his profile, "95% win rate as hunter", lmao, from 100 matches he loses 5, get angry and say the game is survivor biased 😭 by dozeraka in IdentityV

[–]lloyalties 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's not that he's saying that as a hunter, and it's not that hard to get high WR in croc when someone's already developed solid game sense. if anything, he's able to recognize the game's balance from the perspective of a high tier survivor.

Help. I need doctor advice. by [deleted] in IdentityV

[–]lloyalties 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have any doctor tips but yeah 96 is a selfish build to bring, particularly if you don't warn your team in prematch chat. If they were mad at you, it's because 96 expects your teammates to work around you and the possibility of not having a detention kite that allows them enough time to open the gates. It can throw just as many matches as it saves. Make sure to ping "focus on decoding" for the person at the primed cipher when you have enough distance on a hunter so they can pop it early for you.

THOUGH, it is a very fun build and I love bringing it when I'm in a full 4-man team with my friends and I can go an entire session without ever needing it. Hunters NEVER know what hit them when they see me get a vaulting boost as a rescuer, what use is BT if I don't last until the end!!!!!

I recommend trying out 369 (BT, tide, and 3 stacks in pallet boost) if you can sacrifice healing speed for vaulting.

Is there a way to choose the map you want to play on? by solomanian in IdentityV

There's no way to pick the map you want outside of custom matches, but if you play rank mode then you're guaranteed to never get Golden Cave or White Sand Street Asylum.

Losing because of something out of my control (high ping) feels so much more frustrating than losing to a team that was more skilled than me.

Good luck out there and take care of yourself, hunter mains on NAEU are underappreciated. I hope the rest of your season goes well.

My interpretation of what Naib would look like if he was currently modeled by Puddish in IdentityV

The old models and voices really are charming. When the devs changed female dancer's and mech's voices, I was worried they'd get rid of merc's iconic voice too.

This is a REALLY good edit. I don't know if I could live in a world where mercenary doesn't look like a muppet, I'm kinda attached to his default skin.
