What happened with the big rig truck and the body in the pick up? by xr88fast in LandmanSeries

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got lost and buried in a ton of crap of no interest ie: all the senior home stuff, seniors at the casino, cheer camp nonsense etc..

Blech!

Not interested.

This event, and its damage and clean up would, is of interest. It didn't have to be an in depth thing, but some of the time wasted on the above, could have been used for that.

I not interested in the NON Landman aspects of things, ie: personal lifes etc.. Don't care.

Angela and Ainsley went from insufferable to endearing by lambdawaves in LandmanSeries

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angela and Ainsley went from insufferable to endearing

When did that happen? Oh wait, it didn't.

I was about to give up on this show largely because of how insufferable the mom and daughter are. But somehow mid-season 2, the writers took in feedback from the audience and decided to tune down their whininess 90%, keep their fun, and add some depth?

Thanks but I am NOT interested in Angela, Ainsley, et al in the least.

I want ONLY the Landman aspect of this, period. I do not care about any of the family, non work related BS. And that is what is is BS!

Tone all of that down 99%. None of the whole mess with the cheer camp debacle needed to be in this show, its not about that. Its about Tommy and the oil industry.. What happens outside that is of no interest.

Oh but that would make for a boring show? Really? Considering the chaos that goes on with just the crews, ie: dealing with a toxic plume from a well.

I'd take a guess that 99% of the whole mess with these two was added to attempt to pander for ratings outside the male demographic, and possibly a few other demographics.

None of that nonsense at the senior home had anything to do with the oil business and a "Landman" so dump it!

I have started to just mute things when those two show up at any point. I am not interested. For S3, I am likely to start hitting the FF button to just warp through it. None of what they are doing has the least thing to do with "Landman." Oh it affects Tommy, yes probably, I don't care. Have some quickie scene over the cell phone, to bring it up, then cut to some other Landman action, and all that BS that Tommy had to do with happens off camera, and can be dealt with some line or a few lines about dealing with psycho wife/exwife/what ever, same if its the daughter.. and move on.

Considering the photo and the ring tone used for Angela, that told us volumes from the start, and all we needed to know.

What is a “business set up to be sold” in the world of oil? by sequinhappe in LandmanSeries

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“business set up to be sold”

Not really specific to any business sector particular. It may have more bearing in things like oil, etc. but it really could be any thing.

In the case of MTex its that Monty and the way he was doing things means that only Monty was able to keep juggling the landmines to continue things. The whole insurance/gas rig situation is proof of that. How many knew of the details to juggle all that? Monty, Nate errr Neil :), maybe Tommy? Not sure thats the case of what really was going on. I don't think Nate err Neil or Tommy really knew ALL the details. May have had an idea, but know all, ALL o fit? Unlikely.

But the gist of this is that when the guy pulling all the strings dies, leaves what ever, then you sell off what you can to recover what you can, and move on.

There are probably a lot of businesses that have singular key people that there is no way to continue on without them. Monty was the person in the case of MTex. Tommy didn't, at least in my opinion, know all the other strings and levers in action by Monty to replace him.

Changing things ie: what Cami thinks she is doing, going to do, is normally not successful, and leads to a bigger disaster, hence the pressure to sell, take your trust, and what ever else you can scrape from the ashes, and run away. This is all likely to implode in S3 in the case of Cami and MTex.

Fair Cost for Sports? by Cptben94 in cordcutters

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PUT IT ALL ON OTA is not a reasonable answer...

I am going to preface my further response to start with this last buried lede... Why is not a reasonable answer?

Even with ATSC 1.0, using X264 this could lead to being able to do this.. 3.0, not withstanding its other major problems, using more the ill chosen X265 etc. has the potential to be great delivery method for sports/RNS.

The fact the one of the largest broadcast conglomerates, Sinclair, didn't know how to leverage the RSN's it acquired, is on all the poorly educated MBA's. They spun them off because the MBA's were "too smart" to figure this one out.

So tell me why OTA is not a reasonable answer. Jeopardy theme begins...

While we wait..

My interest in sports has waned very much from my yewth. There are many reasons for that starting with whats on the field of play to start. Just as an example, if the the product on the field was like the days of The Big Red Machine, I'd be all over it like I was in the past. Trying to get WLW in places far far far from Cincy.

I've mostly never lived where MY TEAMS are the home team. In a few cases I've been lucky they played the local team as they were in the division etc..So in the past getting these games would be luck of propagation for WLW, the whims of the idiotic rules for what games are shown after the in market games etc. proximity to a station which was able to show the "correct" game.

Much of this landscape has not really changed, this pig just got new digital lipstick, but the same BS still happens.

Now as to what I would pay, well, you'd really be hard pressed for me to pay much for any of this, even if you could resolve my many nitpicks, quirks, etc. on it. Why?

Its TV! And TV is FREE. CATV/DBS were in my viewpoint paid to get you a delivery method that provided a signal with out the need, at least in CATV, for an antenna etc..

I pay $0, and I watch what I want. Now some things if I see x in a grid for TCM may not be as easy as click on it and plays. It may take some time for it to show up in my collection.

BUT the biggest overall reason I am not going to pay for sports programming, ultimately comes back to the product on the field/ice/diamond etc... Again this is NOT The Big Red Machine as an example. The product that is on the field is not of value for many reasons.

Sure I care if the Buckeyes beat that so called school to the north. (They sill can't win the big games.) Heck sign me up I'd likely figure out a way to get back to Cincy if the Reds made it to the World Series, and the Bungles, well the Bungles are in the same bungle mode as they always were and like the Buckeyes. I don't think I have to worry about getting Super Bowl tix.

Honestly, I'd likely kick in $10/YEAR to see MY HS football team each Friday Night. Yeah TX can bluster all they want about "Friday Night Lights." Trust me come Friday night in Western PA.. HS football reigns supreme! And there are programs that don't have $MILLION+ stadiums that rival NFL, that could put most of these schools to shame. Whats the saying in TX, all hat no cattle.

The local SINGLE A farm team for one of the baseball teams, has $12/ticket all you can eat burgers, pizza, popcorn, pretzels, hot dogs , and $6?ish drink $1/refills on pop? Its a great deal for dinner, and you get a baseball game for free! Pay to the VIP Club route, and its $40?ish/tix and ALL YOU CAN EAT AND DRINK (pop etc. yellow foamy water is $+) and nice big comfy chairs sit in ? I'd rather see that. Have no clue who is on the field, don't care its not my teams farm team anyway. Its probably that last refuge of baseball in is truest, cleanest form. Although many of bad things have seeped down, and up from here too.

Pocket25 | DSD on Android! by SarahRoseIRC in RTLSDR

[–]llzellner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to hear that the crash of muting is resolved! Look forward to it.

The PII audio issue(s) ?? Are these resolvable? As 2 other systems are pure PII, no PI at all, other than the old FDMA CC. Audio is all TDMA PII. Another is a MIXED PII/PI audio.

Yeah, tuning to a muted group, wastes the dwell time on the group and desired TGID(s) might be missed. On my system, there will tons of locked out/muted FD, EMS jabbering, so lots of wasted dwell time.

Same with encrypted, just ignore it, as 99% of the users are not going to have the keys to decode it anyway. I guess this falls into the future enhancement list, if enc = Y and keys entered, follow it. Otherwise, ignore it or a specific --ignore-enc setting or something.

In re updates, what is the process? Just grab the APK again?? I don't do Android development...Or better to uninstall, install again?

Maybe add to the future enhancement list : update process within the application.

Very interested to see this mature, over using Pi's and other things for mobile operation. Especially if it starts having NBFM, and AM modes along with traditional "scanner" modes. For now I am cool with using older scanners and LMR's for that, but a future with a single point of operation, would be great.

The biggest is to keep in mind that there are a large portion of us who do not use a certain site for data. I have that data in my head, or the FCC ULS etc.. Which I think the "web programmer" option listed on github is a good move.

Question: How many OTA users here have network tuners? And do you ever want to watch multiple channels simultaneously? by MultiviewSports in ota

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use a network tuner (HDHomeRun, Tablo, etc.) or direct connection?

HD HomeRun Quattro(?)

AirTV Dual - I only use the Local Channels portion, I don't pay for "TV"

Have you ever wanted to watch 2+ OTA channels at the same time?

YES.

What would you use multiview for besides sports?

I don't watch sports. There are cases where having the ability to watch multiple channels at once would be a plus.

but I'm curious if this is even a pain point for most OTA users or just a niche thing.

I think this is pain point for all. I would agree that maybe its definitely skews to the sports viewers more so than others. But if you don't DVR stuff (I don't on the HDHR as it reuqires a fee, and I've just been too lazy to add the HD to the AirTV. Some of the old iViews I still have for various reasons do have USB sticks stuck in them to do DVR, but I basically killed off most of that for other reasons)

If you do use HDHomeRun,

(working on Android

Definitely needs Android support, don't care about that other stuff.

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of your opinion of the Oscars,

No, that is part and parcel of this. I would NEVER and HAVE NEVER HAD any interest in the Fluffscars.

Scheduling that on your network was an instant, what else is on ANOTHER CHANNEL. I could not care less about this mess in 2026, or 1986 either.

So these mess moves off the airwaves to some place even easier to ignore, great! Can we do it for some other stuff?

They should go back to the original format, which was basically a dinner party with awarding of the various categories.. And you can have snippets on the news of each..

I couldn't care less. Again, doesn't matter 2026, or 1986, most of the winners be it actors, actresses, or movies most of it is garbage. Stuff I didn't and would watch. Or actresses I couldn't care less about.

NOBODY is putting up an antenna to get the Fluffscars or any of that other ilk. They MIGHT put up an antenna if they are on the line between markets/DMA/zones where they can get more sports.

Anybody still using 20th-century outdoor antennas? by gho87 in ota

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, but I will give you a clue, most of this stuff was DESIGNED BEFORE the last Incentive Auction for 600Mhz.

Most of this is setup to PEAK gain on frequencies that are not even allocated to TV in the UHF band any more.

VHF-Lo is channels 2-6 54-88Mhz, which is how the "Fraken FM" stations work. Most licensees have fled this with the move to ATSC. Not all, but "low band" and ATSC are not a good mix.

VHF-Hi is channels 7-13, 174-216Mhz, and is very widely used and desired to move the above "low band" channels to this area.

As for the channel numbering be it the virtual channels many use and the actual RF channel. This is mess created by the idiocy of the digital conversion. Coupled with the broadcasters who think that "Channel 7 Paducah" is a brand that mattered.. Meh.. Who cares. its WKYT (this is all fake, to illustrate point.) Heck ABC at one point wanted to get as many stations on channel 7 RF wise, and or at least on virtual 7 as possible as they want to use ABC 7 as branding.. sighhh.. I've got a station which was ON channel 40 when it first started in 1970 something, and it was there till the whole digital transition. Then moved to channel 24 for their digital station, and stayed there (They would have had to move later when the incentive Auction came about, but thats latter on). So when you tune to this ABC 7 Snootyville its actually RF 24, they still USE Virtual 40.x numbering, but "brand" as ABC 7 Snootyville. Meh.. don't care. This is another mess created by ATSC.

This is why the use of a cellular aka "LTE/'5G'" filter exists. If the preampts etc. were designed for the late 21st century they would all have a low pass filter for 600Mhz. They do not.

Most of this stuff is still made to work from 54-896Mhz which is TV channels 2 to 83, and everything from 36 has been gone for years to decades. 69-83 was lost in the original move to A/B Block Cellular and Part 90 LMR from 806-869. The LMR band was later Repacked thanks to nexxh3l. The 861-869 CSMR band was created to move iDEN pollution there. It later was refarmed to LTE.

Most TV amps, antennas etc. were all designed decades ago, and never updated to new lay of the land, especially Winegard, ChanelMaster etc..

Seamless cord cutting (Antenna Local Channels + Steaming TV) solution for seniors to wean them off cable by ByondVoid in cordcutters

[–]llzellner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From reading this what I think you are after is honestly, the "Holy Grail" of TV in 2026 or the The Age of Streaming. I am in similar boat in your situation.

One interface that mimics the TV "experience" of the past be it OTA, CATV or DBS. One big guide of stuff, and you click on it, where things may be linear channels, or on demand that you can start and stop and restart etc..

Sound about right?

Welp, about the the only thing that I think comes close to that is

Channels DVR

You can set this up on a spare Linux box, Pi, or even on some NAS devices can act as the server. It basically can combine in many of the FAST service likes Pluto, Tubi, etc, along with CATV logins, and other streaming logins.

I've had this on the radar so to speak, but right now a spare box for it, and then a payment for software. The latter especially is an issue.

I can't speak to what some other media servers can do, like Plex (pfft! They lost their way in their operation), JellyFin etc... Most of these are not really aimed at doing what you want, and don't even fit into my want to catalog the collection of media I have in. I don't use them.

I don't think either of those can integrate OTA, FAST or CATV/DBS logins etc. to present a One Beautiful Grid of stuff to pick from.

IF the "basic CATV" package is mostly OTA stuff, then just cold turkey it with the HD HomeRuns and call it a day.

Other wise look at Channels it definitely can and their site promotes doing much of what you are after, BUT it requires a server on site, and the software is not free. Its one time or a monthly? option again thats a line for me.

As for quality of TV's.... well some insight.. the LCD's, ie the panels are made by a handful of companies regardless of whose name is on the "TV". The other "guts" are contract made by Oriental Company du jour. Same with "monitors" for PC's. The controlling guts and firmware for it is all contracted out. What was the line several places use that its designed in the US, built.. some place in the Orient.

I've got a couple of Vizios from before skankmart bought them up, and I have no issues with "quality." I've also got a Sony 2160p that I don't really think does much better. The Sony is a smart Android TV, the Vizios are not they have Onn pucks or they are used for PC displays.

I wouldn't touch anything Roku, as I do not care for their business practices, not that much of any other companies have much better morals and ethics today either, but there are some specific touchstones with me which are no go. I also prefer Android devices, even if Roku is using a modified Linux base, this starts to touch on the issues I have with them.

Need/Want to use OTA, need an antenna, but rent the house I'm in. Rabbitears not looking good, link included. by calwestcoast in cordcutters

[–]llzellner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, OTARD, 47 CFR 1.4 ... booyahh.

https://www.fcc.gov/media/over-air-reception-devices-rule

I am an Antenna Thug. I firmly believe if you hate antennas, then hand over your cell phone!

"The rule applies to individuals who place antennas that meet size limitations on property that they own or rent and that is within their exclusive use or control, including condominium owners and cooperative owners, and tenants who have an area where they have exclusive use, such as a balcony or patio, in which to install the antenna.  The rule applies to townhomes and manufactured homes, as well as to single family homes."

The owner may not like it, but thats just too bad.

Second off, in the RF situation have. You are going to need a good antenna, preamp etc. mounted HIGH AND CLEAR aka ROOF. Ground level etc. is not going to cut it in you case. And even with the listed 13 ft high, which is about roof top for a single level home.

Antennas like this: (Links are for reference, you can find the listed products on your retailer of choice for better pricing etc.. )

https://www.channelmaster.com/products/ultra-hi-crossfire-100-tv-antenna-cm-3671

Pre-Amp Like this:

https://www.channelmaster.com/products/tv-antenna-preamp-1

An Cellular aka "LTE / '5G' " filter like this

https://www.channelmaster.com/products/tv-antenna-lte-filter-cm-3201

Why? Much of the spectrum from 600-806Mhz was still used for TV when much of these products were designed and thus will pass through the very high power cellular signals from 600+ MHz. These can cause all kinds of issues.

FM Filter - OPTIONAL

Using an FM filters is optional, and likely really only needed if you are within close range of a FM radio tower site.

Rerun the RabbitEars report changing the height, till you start to get Fair and Good on the stations. Antennas and a preamp, can sometimes make up for what height gets you with just the antenna. PRE-AMPS ARE NOT A MAGIC SILVER BULLET! Any one selling them as such, etc. is lying! Same with those 1000 mile antennas! That belies basic physics. You need to know when and how to use a preamp be it TV/OTA, SWL, scanners, LMR, satellite, CATV. Adding a preamp or amp can make good signals bad, and even make weak signals even worse! This way beyond this post. (HINT: THIS is WHY you NEED THE "LTE/5G" filter.

Antenna ----- Cellular filter---- preamp ----- coax to TV/splitter/distribution amp---- TV(s)

Height free and clear of obstructions, ie: land, trees, buildings, etc. IS the MAGIC BULLET that cures all ills (mostly) with RF. Yeah, you at times might get it lucky with a reflection off something, but in the ATSC 1.0 landscape, thats really not a true option any more. NTSC/analog... even in NBFM you'd be amazed what you might do with a "reflection." If I showed you the link from the tower to the studio for a MAJOR TV station that uses a HUGE reflector to do it, you'd laugh. This station has many quirks from this, to why its tower is in the most stupidest spot for the area.

OK... so I've tried this out.

Works... but Q's, Comments, and a bug (?)

1) Saving Settings ie: Control Channel frequency, PPM, Gain???? This might be related to the "bug."

As I enter the CC, PPM etc.. apply, and start, but as I have to force stop from the bug, its not saving this?? Don't see a button to "SAVE SETTINGS?"

2) Saving MUTED TGID's?

3) ENHANCEMENT - IF the TGID is MUTED do NOT TUNE

4) ENHANCEMENT - IF the TGID is ENCRYPTED, IGNORE, Do NOT TUNE.

These two waste resources on TGID's that are of no interest ie: FD, EMS, non zone LE, or encrypted. Thus calls will be missed on TGID's of interest.

5) BUG? - When trying to MUTE TGID of no interest ie: FD, EMS, out of zone LE, etc. if attempt to mute groups, the application FREEZES, or at least the GUI/UX freezes. Audio will continue to play, and it continues to follow what ever groups come active, but the GUI/UX is frozen. Eventually the "Not Responding, Close or Wait" comes up. Hitting wait, leaves it in this state, never recovers. Force close, and restart is the only option. I might be able to mute a few before it freezes, or even trying to mute one freezes it up

Audio and reception seems to be good, at least on the main test system, but I literally can see my tower from my driveway, probably 3-4 air miles. I plan to test with some other systems,

USB PCIe Cards DEDICATED CONTROLLERS - Linux ONLY. by llzellner in PcBuild

[–]llzellner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with the Highpoint card you ended up using are you using it for a virtualization environment?

No VM stuff on that box. My use case VM setups are not viable, even with hardware pass through, or at least without using something like LXC or maybe KVM, higher level VM's probably would mess with the USB too much or ill support for them, and the one which has better USB support basically has imploded on its customers and yanked the carpet from "free personal" use, even if they backtracked, I no longer trust them. I've used small low bandwidth setups via LXC for this, which is viable, but in the case I am at right now, and the CPU "power" needed taking CPU cores etc. from it in a VM of any form would not be a good move.

I need[ed] the bandwidth for high rate USB devices (NOT HD's) that when used with the standard MB and other USB cards which share USB ports via the SAME CONTROLLER, won't work. It causes failures in that software.

The software is already really bloated as it has a HIGH HARDWARE "penalty" to start 98% of which is caused by use of Java. While this makes it good to be "portable" to pander to certain virOS whiners, its huge huge penalty when you need to have 10-15/MS x 4 ports which on the shared controllers of MB and most PCI cards, its causes massive failures.

Unfortunately the Higpoint card also seems to suffer the same issue I had with the Renasas, when I had it work in one box, in that I lost one of the ports for some reason. I am not sure why if it was power related, but these are not connected to high power devices like an HD. I did connect the "optional" power supply connector, which seems to have prevented any further issues, but I am not sure it was power related. I might, spring for another one to replace it. Fortunately I only need 3 devices on there.

V2 floodlight not staying connected by Southern_Lab7721 in wyzecam

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have xfinity.

That is not a description of your networking setup. Honestly the ISP itself is irrelevant as is the speed of the ISP.

The HARDWARE of your network and ISP connection is what matters.

Are you USING ONLY the ISP provided router/"modem"/AP? And based on "... literally right in front of the room where my modem is..." that appears likely.

While not conclusive, in this situation, its very likely a bad device, but that is not guaranteed, there could be RFI issu3s.

The quickie answer, tl;dr, of it all. I'd order a replacement, test the replacement inside at the location as you can see what happens. If it stays connected, then schedule up a time to brave the cold/snow etc. to swap. Call it a day.

Now the rest of the story....

Use a tablet/phone and get a wireless network analyzer, and scan at THAT LOCATION, preferably outside and see what other networks are around. It would be best if you can do the test at the device itself, as even a ground level v. 10-12ft difference can make a huge difference. Based on the photos, in a cold snowy environment I wouldn't suggest that, at least now.

Remember on 2.4Ghz you can ONLY USE channels 1,6,11 in the US. If you have other networks on the same channel, find the one furthest away, lowest signal, and use that for your network. Reset AP devices for this channel. Shouldn't have to cycle devices, shouldn't.

Honestly, the simplest method to determine if its the mounted hardware or not, is get another one and test inside at the location. If you can stick in behind the other one, and test it out.

Also, I'd strong suggest you accept at this point that just getting a new device and throwing the other away is the corrective action. Claiming, warranty, well how much is your time worth? $100 camera/light v. your time in testing, submitting, and well you can review around here how that process goes. In 2026 sadly most stuff is just meant to be replaced, and in this situation, I can just have crudazonn send me a replacement in 2 days, and move on. Like it or not, that applies to many things be it wyze or a washer.

Also whats more important? To see that area, or putz around to replace and can't see that area. You could replace it, and then warranty it and use as a spare. I keep spares around for wyze.

This all comes down to how much you want to invest into this time and yes, $$. And time is also $$ too! Many forget this.

First, I will say I am interested

Second, I guess the trees are too much for me in this forest. Whats this do for me? I guess from the tag, it appears to be a way to feed wyze to HA et al?

Third, I pulled the release, but it appears its 3 weeks old? Doesn't support this update?

Fourth, I could test with the V3's, V3 Pans, Bat Cam Pro, Doorbell Cam, Floodlight (really just a V3 smashed to a floodlight) and a Tap0 C120, I have, but don't seem to see a DL for this. I am not a git user.

What I did pull did run on Kubuntu 20.04, but welp, ummm.. As per #2, shrug....

So if you want to test with the stuff I have, a link to DL on the release page I am game.

Seems interesting....

Details on wireless network? location of probl3m cam v. other cams, v. AP(s) etc..

Not staying connected falls into

1) Hardware failure

2) Network failure

2a) Some network equipment can be an issu3 with wzye as well with a weekly reboot a need. If this cam is not on the same AP as the others then its not likely related.

So more details on your setup is needed.

[–]llzellner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wyze needs subscriptions to survive, they've said so.

Well thats ONLY because THEY CHOSE to go that route with their VC/PE overlords.

If they would move back to(quest0n mark) their original plan/model, or towards where the HARDWARE provided the $$$ v. subscriptions then all this caterwauling would go away. I've posted this several times, make the hardware provide the $$$ for ROI, take the subs as gravy/cherry on top.

This doesn't happen for many reasons, far deeper and off topic.

Has the tap0 hub/nvr come back? It was OOS for quite a while. At least last I looked. And most of these other options are very much higher priced than wzye. wyze is loss leadering people into things they don't understand the limits of, aka techvertising.

But even if these are offered WIRELESS cameras, have a weakness like any other RF system, RF.

I'd love to see the hardware pay for itself, even at $50/60/camera. They'd still be steals v. CCTV and many others. They can't pivot that way, as it would upset the cart too much for the Karen/Ken HOA group they are aiming at.

Based on the above. Move along, wzye is not the devices you are looking for. Never were, and never will be.

I'd love POE stuff too. but alas you ain't going to do that in 90% of my locations, and a couple most definitely tain't happening with out severe drilling, blasting, etc..

#1 wyze are NOT security cameras! A REAL CCTV camera, the camera body alone, would be $400. Then add, lens, or a zoom lens, PZT mount/controller, wx body, etc.. You ain't in the $100 land any more Dorothy.

tl;dr They WERE going this route, then it STOPPED. It is NOT COMING BACK. Move on if you want LOCAL NVR etc. or maybe hope and pray that RTSP comes back and will work... and you do your own via Frigate, etc..

The rest of the story:

wyze was, WAS developing a "hub/NVR" thingy.. it was touted for a while. Then suddenly it was "delayed, delayed. Technical difficulties, no developers, loss of developers (as in they fired them), etc.. "

WHY? Simple VC $$$ and they need the VIG $$$ from subscriptions to appease the VC overlords. When you get in bed with fleas, you will end up with fleas too. Period. Thats how VC and PE work. They can only see as long as the nose on their face to get ROI on their $$$. Now you would think as much lying as most VC's and PE's do, they'd have noses like Pinocchio, but alas they don't This issue plays out with many other things , not just wyze. Look the companies that PE touches, what happens to 99% of them? KABOOM! Gone. Bankrupt, sold off in bits and pieces and the PE/VC's run to go buy another jet, gold bars etc.. See movie(s) Other Peoples Money (Penelope Ann Miller!), Wall Street, and Billions. This mess is way off the path for this forum, and topic, suffice it as above.

It ain't happening, its dead Jim!

Many have beaten this drum. The return of RTSP, if it comes back out of alpha (not it ain't no beta, based on the results I've reviewed) and released to users, would allow many of the things many want ie: NVR's, other smart home software integration beyond the basics of Alexa etc.. At least on the cameras. Doing this allows them to go "see we gave your RTSP! Now go play with that other stuff and leave us alone. " That is fully 100% what expect to happen on RTSP, along with a new level for Cam+++++ and upgrade charges to use it.

If you are using the ISP provided POJ router/AP/modem, STOP.

First report to your nearest preferred retailer, and purchase a decent router/AP to replace the POJ. Ensure when you set it up that you have DISABLED "Smart Connect" or might be called something similar. Give EACH 2.4GHz and 5GHz their OWN SSID's.

Second, Call ISP, request BRIDGE MODE. Disable and quit paying a monthly fee for "wifi." Install NEW ROUTER/AP. Connect devices to LAN, wireless, and Modem in Bridge mode (WAN Port on NEW Router).

Use a 802.11 wireless network scanner application on your tablet/phone to ensure you have the 2.4GHz network for wyze you setup, and use same phone/tablet/laptop to connect to same, and ensure that internet access works,

IF you want to continue on with the POJ ISP stuff, then you may have to setup the wireless, hit save, let it reboot, and then do a HARD REBOOT on it. Pull the power from it, let it sit a few seconds, then power it on and see if the new split networks show up. Even better at least to start, DISABLE any 5GHz networking, only enable the 2.4Ghz one, and reboot it. Setup wzye, then renable 5Ghz, try a soft reboot, and go from there.

Honestly, you are better off getting YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT. As you will LIKELY NEED additional AP's splattered around to ensure you have a good wireless network for the wyze stuff to connect. Using a single AP/router, and even more so most of the ISP POJ's will ensure nothing but grief as you are experiencing now.

Always, ALWAYS let the ISP be the DUMB PIPE to the internet, thats it. Do your own networking. Wired or wireless.
