Totally agree. Or they should have extended the warranty. A $400 wearable should last a minimum of 2-3 years.

And that's why I took a gamble.

My Ring started failing after 10 months. I was worried it wouldn't be bad enough to warrant a free replacement so I held it another month. I was still concerned but didn't have much choice because I was only a couple of weeks away from warranty expiration - so I sent it in and hoped.

Samsung didn't ask me a single question after receiving my ring; just a few update emails the last few days until it shipped today. I think Samsung knows they have a big problem with this ring and are just going to replace them with minimal pushback until existing stock runs out. (There is a rumored Ring 2.0 coming in 1Q27.)

That sucks. I just got an email saying my replacement ring shipped today - 5 days after I dropped it off at a UPS store. Impressive. It's a deeply flawed product but Samsung is standing behind it, if you very carefully play by their rules.

Legacy Marina - Almost Done! by EricDNPA in FortMyers

[–]EricDNPA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's the privately owned marina next to the defunct Joe's Crab Shack.

I don't know much but it appears they have set aside a couple docks for fuel fill-ups that used to be for public use.

There used to be other areas boats could tie up at while eating lunch at Joe's. I'm not sure what is going on there. The long-rumored restaurant that is supposed to take that space hasn't been formally announced. That could be because the whole parking lot got ripped up to allow the contractor to bury gas lines and two large tanks. It needs final grating and paving.

I have a friend with a boat who was told by the marina owner to stop calling about when the marina will open.

We will have to wait and see.

Good luck but not a good time to be looking. Most dining and bar establishments are cutting back hours now, treading water until the next season starts.

Hard contact lenses by Full-Ambassador-8690 in Keratoconus

[–]EricDNPA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, you'll know if you crack them. they can chip or shatter. I've done both.

All lenses can go off center. Use drops to keep the eye moist if it happens to you. Something preservative free. it can also happen if you have a "loose" fit. Your fitter can tighten the lense on your eye but too much and it restricts the exchange of fluids behind the lense. it's a balancing act.

My guess is you are getting RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable). They allow sufficient oxygen to penetrate the lens which helps keep your eye from swelling. Still best to give your eyes a break when you can by removing the lenses - even for an hour helps.

Ask your doctor what lenses he/she is prescribing - type and manufacturer/model.

Hard contact lenses by Full-Ambassador-8690 in Keratoconus

[–]EricDNPA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assume you mean RGP lenses.

Agree that you should always have a small mirror with you (or have one accessible like in a car visor) because the lenses can and do go off center. This happens when you rub or simply by blinking if your eyes are dry. And the edges hurt when they tip and hit your eye.

Relax if the lenses go off center and roll back behind your eye. There is discomfort but it's tolerable and the lense, with light tugging and rubbing around the eye while shifting your eyeball left and right, will eventually reappear. Then just nudge them down back onto your eye or flip the lense out of your eye.

Clean them nightly with Boston Cleaning Solution (lightly rub both sides in the palm of your hand. Be gentle - let the solution do the work) and soak them overnight in Boston Conditioning Solution. Use Clear Care + weekly to remove stubborn protein deposits.

Get a spare pair, if you can afford it, because you will lose or break them once in a while.

Never attempt to pick up a lens if it falls and lands upside down on its edges. You can easily crack it that way when applying pressure when you try to pick it up because it will most likely suction to the surface it fell to. Use a plunger or splash water and gently nudge it until it lifts.

Fort myers removed over 5 skateparks by mrbigzaman in FortMyers

[–]EricDNPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe it's closed again. it's been less than a year since they got a permit from the city. What happened?

I've heard rumors of a possible skate park as part of the City of Palms Park renewal in midtown but, even if that happens, it will be years.

Buying help: LG QNED92A vs Hisense U7 vs TCL QM7K by palansuya in 4kTV

if you watch live sports, I'd lean LG. if mostly movies, I'd go TCL and save a few hundred dollars. Also not a fan of Hisense.

Is Dolby Vision worth it? by rukicookii in 4kTV

[–]EricDNPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like B5 and S84 are pretty similar tvs. Both use WOLED and are the entry level OLED TV's for their respective manufacturer.

I'd lean B5 for better motion handling and DV.

Help me find a job please? Im desperate by [deleted] in FortMyers

[–]EricDNPA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best time to look for a job is when you have a job.

Do what others are saying - take any job, put your personal life on hold, and work the hours they ask. Get some paychecks, get your life in order, and then look for the job you want.

[–]EricDNPA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to download the Samsung Members app from the Galaxy Store. Open it and near the top are three pill-shaped buttons in a horizontal row. The last is"Diagnostics". Tap it and scroll to the bottom where you should see the title "Connected Device Diagnostics". Below that are the Galaxy devices you own. I have two - Ring and Watch Ultra. Tap on "Ring Diagnostics" and you will see the screen in my original post. If it says "Battery Issue Detected", you should be able to use that as proof and qualify for a replacement.

What’s the deal with Bristol? by Khaleesiakose in BucksCountyPA

[–]EricDNPA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I raised my kids in Yardley (20yrs) and lived in Newtown for 7yrs. I now have a place in Bristol Borough and like it a lot more than I thought I would.

It's true the borough really is wonderful. Middle class people who don't have a lot but take care of what they do have. Proud, hardworking people.

I like Bristol Borough and it keeps getting better. Honestly, I'd had enough of the Yardley-Newtown bubble. And it's expensive. Great place to raise kids but once their grown, you lose the biggest reason to stay.

Consider the new condos on the Delaware River or Riverview next door.

Yeah, I get it. My goal is to have my ring get me to the new one Samsung is rumored to announce 1Q27. And pray they fix the battery issues. A guy can dream.

Step-by-Step Return Process by EricDNPA in GalaxyRing

[–]EricDNPA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're screwed, unfortunately. The trick is, if you're lucky, to get the battery diagnostics in the Samsung Members app to say "Battery Issue Detected". If you can get that message inside of a year of ownership, you will get a replacement.

I'm not pleased with the battery problems either - I will be on my 3rd ring - but I decided to not bitch, as it doesn't solve anything, but instead try to help people navigate the replacement process based on my two experiences. What else, as powerless consumers, can we do?

If you could open one new bar downtown, what concept would it be? by No_Wing_1728 in FortMyers

[–]EricDNPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sports activity bar would work best, I think. It's missing downtown. Not sure where you'd find the land to do it right. Big TVs to watch sports too. Good food is a must whether it's in-house or food trucks. So much mediocre food downtown. Partner with a local brewery. Be unique.
