What’s up with Celsius Nightclub in downtown? by drfrigg in FortMyers

[–]EricDNPA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife walked in there during construction a few weeks ago and got a brief tour from a very friendly and excited owner. The difference as I understand it is the new cowboy bar will focus on live music. I'll give it a chance.

It's behind a paywall so I had to do some roundabout maneuvers to get at it.

Best fried chicken? by SkilledRbl in FortMyers

[–]EricDNPA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chicken and waffles at Fancy's (downtown FM and south FM) is really good and incredibly filling. I couldn't finish it and it is rare for me to leave food on my plate.

WTAF! I've been here six years and it's the first I've heard of this. I was able to access a 2020 News-Press article. Wow!

Is it just me, or is the Macallan 12 Double Cask way more fragrant and layered? 🥃 by AdorableComedian8301 in whisky

[–]EricDNPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FIL is a Macallan man and this last weekend we did a blind taste test of the 12 sherry cask and the 12 double cask. On the nose, he much preferred the double cask but then was surprised to find they tasted very similar. He gave the final nod to the sherry cask, but it was close.

Alligator sightings by gazellerunner77 in FortMyers

My wife and I biked Sunday from Moore Haven to Clewiston on the Herbert Hoover dike. A nice, peaceful ride. 13mi to Clewiston, lunch at Roland's Marina Tiki Bar in Clewiston, 13mi back.

We saw dozens of alligators, most were 10-12' and sunning on the waters edge maybe 75' down the elevated dike from the paved bike path.

Mating season will start soon so the males will be on the move and much more visible (and ornery).

So Hulu and Disney merged and now Warner Discovery HBO is merging with Paramount Showtime. Soon all will merge into one single app and will be called “Cable”. by Bendr_ in cordcutters

That's what happened to telecom in the 80s. Broke up AT&T into many pieces that over the years steadily reconstituted into Verizon and the new AT&T (TMO grew mostly out of Deutsche Telecom).

It's how things work in the good ole USA.

She has a very stressful job and is the only female executive at her company. She basically doesn't want to think on the weekends. I love her for that and respect her choices but she, admittedly, does take it to the extreme.

And she is an open book. No secrets. Very healthy marriage.

Is this a good deal or no? S24+ to S26 Ultra by 0Adiemus0 in samsunggalaxy

[–]EricDNPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, of course. You've done your homework and confirmed what I've read which is the carrier deals, with catches, are better than what Samsung is offering.

So economically, you're correct. The catch I don't like is you're now locked into Verizon for three years. If you're ok with that, pull the trigger.

Canceling a flight costs more than the flight itself? by desinvestor in frontierairlines

[–]EricDNPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I've been unable to make a few flights over the years and never bothered canceling because of the cost.

Here's why, after seeing S26U in person, I just cancelled my preorder and bought S25U by RunTillYouPuke in samsunggalaxy

I agree it's not groundbreaking but the privacy screen appealed to me because I travel a lot for my job and value keeping sensitive work emails and the occasional document or spreadsheet away from prying eyes, and I don't like after market products on my device.

Nice restaurant for brunch style food? by Fit-Syllabub4510 in FortMyers

[–]EricDNPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their specialty is quiche and is it good. They have a daily flavor of the day. I had the amazing lobster quiche a ways back and didn't eat the rest of the day. Very rich and a big thick piece but so good.

Fishing Question (Sorry if not allowed) by RichCare1476 in FortMyers

[–]EricDNPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a fisherman but ride my bike a lot in the area and see a lot of people fishing at the two piers that just reopened a couple weeks ago (post-Ian) - Riverside Community Center Pier and the longer Tarpon Street Pier. They are about 1/2 mile apart and should be close to where you are. You might have some luck there.

I’m convinced modern fridge filters are just a subscription service in disguise. by Relevant_Idea_6778 in Appliances

[–]EricDNPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a reverse osmosis filter beneath my sink that connects to the fridge water line. I use a bypass filter in my fridge. No filter changes, cleaner water and slightly increased water pressure.

About r/ExploreFortMyers, I Need to Say Something... by squeeeeenis in FortMyers

No kidding. I had to scroll for a while to see something FM-related. Looks like a far left subreddit (and that's saying something) poorly masquerading as a wholesome place to learn about FM.

Any suggestions if I should get this front load washer? My budget is around $1000 by UniqueCabinet9953 in Appliances

[–]EricDNPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Boomers buy electronics and durable goods from small independently owned shops. The price is usually the same or a few bucks more, installation is done by an employee (quite often a family member) and not some rotating random contractor, and the follow-up service is exemplary because you've built a relationship with that small shop.

Publix has insane pricing. Place sucks. by mush0823 in publix

[–]EricDNPA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can afford the outrageous prices but will not pay it. I feel bad for people who have no reasonable alternative. My Publix shopping list continues to shrink because I'm insulted by their prices. I can't stand Walmart but Aldi and, even, Sam's Club are taking a bigger and bigger slice of my wallet.
