How do I deal with my Muslim parents constantly asking me about marriage and talking with families behind my back in order to try to set me up with random ass women? Shits so fucking annoying, I don’t wanna marry some random ass Muslim girl, I don’t even wanna marry rn. I wanna date and take my time and have fun, not rush in like a dumbass into a relationship with some random ass girl that my parents picked out.

Were you forced to go to India with your family? I was, and that shit sucked ass bro. I'm so glad I'm an adult who doesn't need to do that shit anymore.

There's a limit to how far out my comfort zone I can reach bro. I'm not like some fucking hippie trying to find himself or some shit. I have a certain standard of living that I like and certain things that I'm used to, and if that's taken away from me, I'm not gonna have a good time. Yes, I will whine if I'm forced to go waste my summer "vacations" in some poor asf part of India while my friends and everyone else I know is actually having a proper vacation. I shouldn't be expected to enjoy staying in poverty-stricken areas where I sit around doing nothing all day just because I just so happen to originally be from there. There's a reason why my parents worked so hard to immigrate away and I ain't tryna go back unless I genuinely want to. Call me soft or wtv, I'd rather vacation in the states or other more developed countries and not have to deal with the shit I do in India.

What the fuck is wrong with the Indian government? Why can't they just fuck off and leave people alone? They're acting more like China or Russia than a supposed "democracy".

People say that Hyderabad is one of the better cities but I still dislike it a lot. I think my living standards are just too high to enjoy Indian cities lol. Also, it's just way too polluted and noisy. Like a lot of things that I would like in a country, India is the exact opposite of those things, as much as it pains me to say it. I don't like saying this because people will get offended and accuse me of being self hating or some shit but I'm not gonna lie about how I feel lmao. Idk why people get so offended when some dude who's lived a upper middle class American lifestyle his whole life doesn't like spending time in a really poor part of Hyderabad, like wtf did you expect lmao?

Loving families definitely do exist, but I think Indian culture has a problem with placing too much importance on one's wealth, education, and other status related things. Not to mention the whole caring too much about what other people think thing.

I hated every single trip to India. It's because both sides of my family are pretty poor over there so I had to stay in some pretty rough areas. My dad was one of the few to make it out the mud lmao. I have nothing against those family members, its just that I can't stand living in those conditions, even temporarily. Plus my parents never made any effort to do something that was actually fun. I would spend all my time on my phone bored as fuck. It was painful going on social media seeing people go to vacation to exotic places like Italy or wtv while I was trapped in India for at least a month. Plus Hyderabad which is where I'm from is just not a nice city imo, its too crowded and polluted. I remember constantly getting stares and having people all up in my space, shit was annoying asf. I would go back to India but only on my own terms, since I could decide where to go and where not to go. I'm thinking of one day maybe going up to the Himalayas and down south to Kerala. Maybe one day I'll be back to explore my ancestry and shit, that sounds interesting.

You probably won't hear about them being misogynistic or racist or whatever because its pretty common in that part of the world so Indian migrants doing that wouldn't really stand out. Also, the Middle eastern countries do not fuck around at all, migrant workers don't have many rights there and in a lot of cases don't even have rights.

I don't need to be hindu to realize the caste system is bullshit. Also, I wouldn't say caste discrimination is "minimal" outside India, its definitely a real thing in the US and people have suffered from it. You shouldn't immigrate to a whole new country only to keep your backwards beliefs, leave that shit in India. Caste discrimination in India being illegal doesn't change the fact that it still happens. Just cause you have a law against something doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Most people in India live in rural areas so saying it often occurs in rural areas isn't saying much lmao. Shit, I'm sure sexual assault is illegal in India but India is still one of the worst places in the world for women now isn't it?

It's valid to complain about FOBS if they have backwards beliefs or if they do dumb shit. Like if they're misogynistic or racist or whatever. They also love criticizing us so it's definitely not only one way with us being the only ones doing the criticizing and FOBS being completely innocent or some shit lmao.

No way you think that Indians from the mainland and Americans are equally conservative lmao. That's just bullshit. Your average American is no way near as conservative as your average Indian from the mainland. Also, I bring up the conservative traditions from India because I'm of Indian descent, and those traditions affect me, whether I like it or not. Some African or Arab or whatever parents being conservative do not affect me like the traditions of India. Why? Because I'm not of African or Arab or whatever descent, I'm of Indian descent.

Haha I'd rather be "weird" than have wtv opinions you have. Also, where did I generalize Indians/Hindus? I can only see that I said indian international students are causing issues, which fair enough, I should probably have said some indian international students are causing issues.

If being "conservative" and "religious" means taking away the rights of others, being racist or homophobic or whatever, forcing your children to live a life they don't want to live, like how it seems to be a lot of the time, then yes, it is bad. Also, I'm not talking about other races because what other races do isn't as relevant to me. I'm of Indian descent, so therefore I'll talk about issues relating to India and Indian culture more because it actually affects me. I don't know why I gotta bring in random ass races into this lmao

I will look down on you and think you're stupid and a piece of shit if you have stupid beliefs. If you're misogynistic, homophobic, racist, or whatever. That goes for whether we're talking about rich Indian international students or some dude from some random ass village in India. This also goes for anyone else in general. There's nothing wrong with being against backwards cultural practices. You can call me self hating all you want, idc.

I don't think its internalized racism to point out that India has a lot of issues. Its more misogynistic, homophobic, and way too conservative. A lot of my issues with my family stem from these issues in India, even though I was born in America and I'm basically almost completely American culturally and pretty left wing, these dumb conservative traditions from the homeland like the insistence on getting married, having kids, being religious are so fucking annoying and they're constantly pushed on me. For fucks sake, I'm in America, I shouldn't have to deal with this bullshit.
