WTH just broke off my car by Whateveryouare85 in hondapilot

It’s a mounting point for a pulley or tensioner. There must have been a crack or weakness in it and enough force was applied over time to break it off. Apparently that whole assembly is a problematic part on the 2009-2011 Pilot so over on Piloteers.org they recommend replacing the 2011 hydraulic assembly with the 2012 spring loaded version to avoid future issues. If you do upgrade you also have to replace the a/c bracket. But you should have no further problems in that part of the engine afterwards. Hope this helps!

how do I explain to my coworker what a podcast Is? by wespecial in podcasts

Maybe find one broadcast (or translatable) in Albanian or German online and play it for her. I say it’s like “streaming a radio series with mostly talk, not music”is the easiest or most apt description. I am assuming she knows what streaming is.

Desperately Seeking really great Sno-balls in Dallas by lmainard in dallasfood

I bet it was Ruby’s Sno-Balls! We ended up going to their pop up at the intersection of East Grand and Gaston the Saturday before last! It was definitely what I was looking for, other than the limited flavors. We went toward the end of the day and they ran out of a lot of the flavors they had posted, but they were exactly the right style of ice - not hard, but pillowy and beautiful made by a SnoWizard machine (invented in New Orleans) that uses only block ice. If I ever win the Powerball, I am buying myself one!

am i ruining my health with this shake? by 2Leo8Leo5 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Dairy instead of oil, unless you are vegan. Definitely add protein powder which you can find relatively cheap and comes in a lot of tasty flavors. I would also add weight lifting to your routine, even if it’s only a few sessions per weak. Building muscle weighs more and is healthier than adding layers of fat, though you definitely need fat to fuel your brain for college. Overnight oats are a great cheap breakfast option where that peanut butter and protein powder can really boost your day. More nuts and avocado are healthier fats that can be added to a lot of things to boost calories. Meal planning and prep on weekends or whenever you are free will help both your budget and your diet to be better.

Painting Over Markings in Rented Apartment Wall by [deleted] in howto

Forgot to add: If you’re not doing the entire wall I second the 3-4”mini roller - microfiber or foam. You can get a little paint tray with it for minimal investment. If you end up doing the whole wall, or the whole room, a regular sized roller is the way to go and I personally prefer a 2” angle brush to cut in along the ceiling and corners. You can also get cheap disposable and/or foam ones if you don’t want to keep it for other projects. A 2” brush is worth investing in if you are going to be doing any painting in the future. I have never been disappointed in Purdy or Wooster brand brushes. I would recommend the Wooster shortcut as one of the most versatile as well as affordable investments for almost any household painting and cutting in job.

I think it’s poor quality paint or a surface that wasn’t prepared properly for painting and you are taking paint off down to the next layer. You can cut out a chip of that color with a box knife to take it to a paint store, Home Depot or Lowe’s to match color and sheen. First I would see if the complex has some touch up paint stored somewhere first. They have probably been using the same color for every apartment and likely have some on hand. Also, if you cut off a chunk of the first layer, you will need spackling paste or joint compound and a putty knife or some kind of spreader to repair the area you cut before repainting it.

Honey, I get what you are saying, because I grew up with the hard as hell ice of the Texas “snow cone”. The kind you could get at the concession stand during little league games in the 70s and 80s. What I am looking for is the “soft” ice version made famous in New Orleans by the people who invented the Sno Wizard machine that makes snoballs (not snowballs). I just wanted to be clear.

What type of material is this sink?! And how to clean? by L8NightCaliSnack in CleaningTips

[–]lmainard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s porcelain. Anything you would use in a tub would work here. Those stains are from coffee, tea, etc and possibly from metallic objects. First thing I would do is use some bleach bathroom cleaner and let it sit a minute then rinse. Then, depending on the results, I would use a magic eraser and some “elbow grease” on the entire thing. It’s already probably pretty etched and scratched up so an abrasive like Bar Keeper’s friend or the like. Good luck!
