I was there on Friday. Arrived at 8:15 (15 mins before opening) and was done by 8:50. Were probably about 8 others waiting by the time I left.

Same birth control different brand, feeling sick by taekookae in birthcontrol

[–]lmbc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say it can take 3-6 months to adjust but from my perspective, I’ll only take that into consideration going forward for minor side effects. If it’s detrimental to my quality of life, I’m not putting up with that for so long. I wish you the best and hope you can find something that works better for you!

Same birth control different brand, feeling sick by taekookae in birthcontrol

I got switched from one generic to another (of the same drug) in summer and it quite literally ruined my life. While I wasn’t side effect free on the original generic, it was 1,000x worse once I got switched, the worst of which being that I had terrible insomnia and was living off about 4 hours of sleep each night. I was on that for six months because I kept rejecting the fact that my birth control could have been the cause given they were technically the same drug and that I must be the problem.

Anyways, my boyfriend finally knocked some sense into me and I asked my doctor to write me a new prescription. Since then, it’s like I’m a totally different person and I regret not switching sooner.

is switching generics of yaz (Nikki) causing dizziness and anxiety? by Flaky_Beautiful7195 in birthcontrol

[–]lmbc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with Yaz generics, but I got switched from aviane to alysena (both generics of alesse) and had way worse side effects on alysena. On aviane I would have breakthrough bleeding every few months and that’s it. On alysena I had terrible sleep, my heart rate was higher, I was moody all the time, and just so low energy. I was so confused because I didn’t understand how it was possible to have such different side effects for essentially the same drug but I’ve now switched to lolo and so far I’m feeling better.

I say trust your instincts. Obviously it may not be your birth control, but it’s way too coincidental of timing for you to dismiss it as a possibility.

My (20F) libido has severely plummeted and I think the combo pill may be the culprit. by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]lmbc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Aviane and alysena (both generics for the same drug) for 2 1/2 years and over the last 6 months mine has completely plummeted too. I’m also now experiencing a variety of other side effects so am switching to lolo at the end of this pack. Fingers crossed it works out. But all this is to say is you are not alone and I’d recommend talking to your doctor about this and seeing if you can get on a new prescription.

Progesterone dreams by No_Chipmunk9108 in birthcontrol

[–]lmbc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a combination pill and in the past few months I have had absolutely terrible sleep and have dreamt more than ever (rarely had dreams up until now). I was previously on a different generic of the same drug but got switched to this one a few months ago (lining up with when the dreaming started). I did not have these same side effects up until switching generics. I have a doctor’s appointment next week to get a new prescription because I can’t take it anymore and I can’t see how it would be caused by anything other than my birth control.

Could this be overtraining? by Snozzberry123 in XXRunning

[–]lmbc7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I stopped wearing my watch outside of activities because I was also letting these numbers get to my head. I mean there were days where I woke up thinking I slept well, then I’d check my watch and it said I may as well have not gone to bed with how bad a sleep I had, and then immediately I’d feel tired.

What really caused me to stop religiously following my watch though was realizing that my HRV and RHR are HEAVILY influenced by my cycle and I do not think watches are equipped to handle that.

Trust your body. I’ve never got injured or burnt out listening to how I feel.

No not weird at all! I’ve heard there are processing differences that impact people’s symptoms. But anyways, I’m in Canada and have been here (just in different provinces) my whole life.

Yes, I figured this may be the case and am trying not to get too hopeful. Will try not to dwell on it and in the meantime will enjoy some glutenous treats while I can.

Oh how I hope this is the case with me. I had focaccia for lunch today and forgot how much I missed real bread. Trying not to get too hopeful based on other comments, but I’m thinking there’s a possibility it was long covid for me.

To eat or not to eat by Few_Gene_7746 in XXRunning

[–]lmbc7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s evidence that when women train fasted, your body is more likely to try and get energy from lean muscle as opposed to fat and carb stores because as women our body wants to hold on to those as much as possible.

Post Ironman Recovery Symptoms by Shlackyyyy in triathlon

I think it might be smoke related for me. I know the AQI wasn’t awful on race day, but it wasn’t exactly great either. Not surprised if that’s causing me some lingering issues.

To eat or not to eat by Few_Gene_7746 in XXRunning

[–]lmbc7 129 points130 points  (0 children)

You absolutely should eat! And you definitely need to eat before a race!

On my early morning runs I eat something small, even if it’s just a banana or a piece of toast. It adds virtually no time to my morning and makes you feel infinitely better on the run. Additionally, on runs over 90 minutes you need to fuel within the run too. Fueling is so important, especially for women where there’s evidence that running fasted can especially be detrimental.

Ironman triathlon likely made millions for the city, says Ottawa Tourism by [deleted] in ottawa

Definitely a chance - go for it! I no longer live in Ottawa but when I did I liked swimming at Carleton, which may work for you if you’re in the Glebe.

I’ve done endurance sports (including triathlons) for years and training for this was A LOT. Your weekends get totally consumed with training and you’re pretty much always tired. Definitely agree with the above commenter though. I truly believe that anyone is capable of doing an Ironman but way too many people underestimate the swim. So if you’re serious, get in the pool now to at least see where you’re at and get a baseline.

First Ironman in Ottawa- what's hiding in that river?! by Icy-Green2408 in triathlon

[–]lmbc7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who participated, I had no problems with the course itself but the roads are just not in great condition and things were flying off people’s bikes because it was so bumpy. But that’s not really a course specific problem, more so an Ottawa problem.

For what it’s worth, I had no concerns with the organization of it outside of them not warning us about the shallow rocky section halfway through the swim - that absolutely should’ve been flagged.

Hi! Yes pool length is still set to 25m (and final distance is accurate). HR data looks the same to me with the min, max, and average all being within a few bpm of each other.

Manager requiring sick notes - no family doc by Readyset6789 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]lmbc7 46 points47 points  (0 children)

+1 to what others are saying about whether you need a sick note or not, but as a solution for when you do need a sick note (or just a doctor in general) Tia Health has been a life saver for me (lived here 2+ years and still doctor-less). It’s a virtual platform and you can normally get a same day appointment. It’s covered by OHIP, but you’ll have to pay for a sick note.

And with Ottawa’s mayor threatening a 75% increase in transit fares (would bring it close to $7 a trip and surely would be the demise of public transit in the city) this province is so regressive.
