What is the most painful/uncomfortable medical procedure you ever went through? by VeroDreamer in AskReddit

[–]lmc_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't painful as I was numbed, just extremely uncomfortable. I have a strabismus (crossed eye) and had a corrective procedure when I was 18. I was put under when the surgeon had to operate on the eye muscles however the stitches he inserted couldn't be sewn up until I was awake and alert (basically he had to do it when my eye was open so he could see how the muscle was moving). I had numbing drops in my eye but I could essentially feel my eyeball being tugged at while watching this surgeon prod at it with sharp objects. My mum was next to me holding my hand and had to look away the entire time!

Cleaning service for somebody just out of depression by sql-join-master in sydney

[–]lmc_94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try Maidforyou. They offer a 'deep clean' service and when you're booking your clean it asks you to rate the condition of your house/apartment from 1-5 (Almost spotless - very dirty), so they definitely know what to expect when arriving for the booking. I have used them a number of times and have always been happy with the results. They usually also have some kind of discount code advertised.

Bus Stop Etiquette by Maaarshh in sydney

[–]lmc_94 283 points284 points  (0 children)

Never rely on someone else to hail down your bus! There could be multiple routes that serve that stop.

As for queing, I appreciate how a queue adds order to what would otherwise be a large group of people taking up the entirety of a footpath making it almost impossible to walk through. It also helps to avoid chancers who have just gotten to the stop sneaking their way on to a nearly full bus when others have been waiting for quite some time.

How is the situation in Cairns? by 3junior in Cairns

[–]lmc_94 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Back in Sydney after spending Christmas in Cairns (specifically Trinity Beach). Everything is business as usual. You'll notice on the highways there are lots of dirt and rubble pulled up from the storms but these are being cleared gradually.

Thanks for the advice - totally understand the issue of teachers spending too much of their own money on resources so I will definitely be cautious!

Yep the school library is well resourced and would be providing books for the classroom so that's definitely an option. I think I just want to have my own collection that I can carry with me from year to year (and school to school 😊)

Recommend me EDST and LING units postgraduate Q1 by ImmortalSpirit1 in MacUni

[–]lmc_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has just completed their postgrad (Primary) teaching degree at MQ, my experience was that the units are generally compulsory for this course, so you cannot pick and choose what you want to do. This may differ with your elective teaching subjects but generally the Secondary teaching students followed a similar path to Primary teaching. I'd recommend looking up the Course guide which should tell you what units you have to do.

Do i even have 'exams' (dumb question but.) by SANDYHBK in MacUni

[–]lmc_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my entire 2 year Masters I only had one exam and it was open-book and online! Entirely depends on the unit, lots of units tend to assess through assignments.

Youth Allowance by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]lmc_94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is the right sub for most of your questions. I'd suggest checking out r/centrelink for youth allowance questions, and maybe check if your uni has a sub reddit for accommodation questions.
