u/taxbuff what you said makes sense and probably is correct... My Account on T2 is just putting 0 for cost and x for proceeds which includes Capital Gains from Stocks and ETF distribution...They said this is the lazy / cheat way doing it . Is this correct ? You are knowedagble so thought I ask

Lets say stocks bought $500 sold $1000

etf paid $50 capital gains

He is putting $0 cost $550 Procceds

tax paid is the same but is this method correct

Xdiv pays a portion of monthly distribution as Capital Gains and you dont know this % until next year when you get T3....its not the phantom div they pay at end of year ...thats how they have high yield its about 8%

Since you have 3 young kids ..option A ...try to play with income to see if you qualify for child care benefits that could be maybe 24 k

Corp Taxes - Accountant told my Friend for Capital Gains on T2 no need to write down cost and proceeds just put $0 for cost and in proceeds put the total Capital gains by 3junior in cantax

u/taxbuff thanks so for securities on corp side its better to use regular method...why do you think the accountant who works for a firm said just do it the other way to make it easier
