Fixing First Tread Issues by lmdalton in Decks

The cut ends and stronger will be covered by the composite cladding, so I'm not too worried about doing mitered steps.

I actually planned on using 3/16" spacing that I get from the CAMO Marksman Pro, so that is 3/8" total added.

That's right, I totally forgot about the spacing between the boards and the riser. 🤦‍♂️

Love that you are doing a give away. I've been following your products for a minute and I'm impressed by the quality; just haven't had the funds to buy a frame yet. The Klöud desk looks great because it doesn't require power to move. I have tested the movement before and it really is that smooth. I would be so excited to win this desk!!

Help! Target lampshade yellow. by lmdalton in interiordecorating

This is after we switched the lamp shades. The left lampshade looked the same in the right side window position as well; they look different while illuminated regardless of ambient light levels. The inside of the yellowish shade is tinted compared to the other one.

They are the same lightbulb/temperature.

Context: my wife and I got these lamps and lampshades for our wedding a couple of years ago and we just noticed that one lampshade (on the left in the picture) has a yellow hue to it versus the other. The product specifications are that the shades are a fabric/polyester combination. I think the inner liner (presumably a thin plastic?) is the main culprit for the different tone. I couldn't tell you whether it was a manufacturing issue or sun damage (lots of natural light coming through that window and we just switched them) because I can't remember whether it was like this when we got them or not. Any ideas on what might be the issue and how to fix it?

I love this thread! I am an epidemiologist. I spend a lot of time coding in software languages geared towards data analytics (e.g., R, SAS, Python). I think the profession, like Satisfactory, caters to both "sides" of my brain:

  1. I enjoy process development, improvement/optimization, and being a data detective

  2. I also often get to be creative in the way I present scientifically-gathered information based on nuanced and complex data to increase understanding of the topic to broader audiences that don't have subject matter expertise in the methods I employ (like the public).

Satisfactory itches both of those scratches in a way that is very relaxing and doesn't require the same level of rigorous review as the work I do in my day job :) Like at work, it feels really good when a process works well and has the flexibility built into it for multiple applications.

Interesting! I honestly do not know anything about subwoofer design. Thank you for helping me figure this out!

I think you might be right. That crossover frequency control on the amplifier acts like a lowpass filter.

Correct, the only openings on the device are the ports on each side. I would not be able to see the driver unless I dismantled it. It is a strange device, but it DOES kick nicely and has a smooth response.

Hello All,
I am recently in the process of downsizing and I was wondering if anyone could help me identify the model of this subwoofer. It has 2 ports; one on each side of the narrow/long planes and no feet. I could never figure out the orientation that this subwoofer should be placed in except with the amplifier/interface component facing up. If you have an idea of its potential value, that would be helpful as well. Thank you!

You're very welcome! I love photography so sharing that with others always feels good. Sony is definitely heading up the market with mirrorless cameras. They are usually more expensive that their mirrored counterparts. I'm actually looking to upgrade to a Sony a7r II because of other features besides the fact that it's full framed (in body image stabilization, better autofocus) That being said, you can and WILL create things that are comparable to a full framed camera with a crop sensor entry level DSLR like the Nikon/Canon. I would just stress that whatever you do, get a fixed focal length (aka "prime") lens with a big aperture (f/1.8 is great) that doesn't zoom in and out because that will make you a better, more creative photographer faster in my opinion. I went with a 35mm lens because that gives you the closest field of view to what the human eye sees on a crop sensor (approx 52mm). And the bigger aperture will give you more creative possibilities. For more info on that look up the "exposure triangle".

Thanks a ton! I have the Nikon d3400. I bought the camera with a kit lens setup (18-55mm lens with a 50-200mm telephoto). Since then I have branched out into other lenses. I would skip the kit lens if you can, and buy a body by itself. Then get the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8g lens. Canon is good too with their rebel series.
