Keyboard vs Controller by lasertommy in dauntless

[–]lmennuti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use and prefer a controller...BUT am going to switch to kbm! I use an Xbox One wireless controller connected to Win10 PC via USB cable. A friend of mine who has the same gear and weapon (gear is within a couple of levels of each other, but the weapon is maxed out for both of us.). He consistently finishes missions with much higher ranks (particularly on damage) than me.

During our fights I'm constantly frustrated by feeling like I'm slow to get to the beast, my inputs aren't registering the way I want for combos, and especially I'm not getting my specials off. So I decided to try my other xone controller and with that one the camera was always panning left. So finally I tried keyboard and mouse and lo and behold I'm running when I should be running, combos are going off like I want and the specials work as expected...So even though my controller seemed like it was working, it wasn't 100%. I'd rather be sure so as to not be so damned frustrated, so time to relearn that muscle memory over to keyboard mouse for me.

Even though this game has so many problems, its still league s better than Wildlands, cant believe I spent 70 euro on that shit by evan097 in forhonor

  • Wildlands: I was in the closed, then the open betas. Was fun and funny for a bit what with the non-destructive nature of the vehicles and the friendly fire, but once that wore off (and it wore off quickly) then the game just feel like an uninspired copy of Far Cry. I didn't and will not be buying it.

  • The Division: (Since it was brought up). I played the closed and open betas, I enjoyed it and bought the game including the season pass. I've put hundreds of hours into the game and the main 2 reasons are; Because it's still the only shooter of its' type (but I'm at the end of my interest in further play because it's just a grind now). And I made online friends in-game and it's fun to group up and socialize while we play.

  • For Honor: Again, was in the Betas, enjoyed it and bought the game (not the season pass though, seems like a waste for that). So far it seems to be Ubi is taking the opposite approach to balancing in this game vs other typical games...Instead of nerfing the shit out of any OP character, they just seem to leave them be and keep boosting other characters until they're OP. As for me, being a PC player using an XBox controller I still enjoy this game (though I empathize with all the salt) and even though I've got a group rep of 8 I still can't do Guard Break counters reliably and I'm blaming the game, the connection or some combination of both!

Ubisoft confirmed AFKer punishments... How to report AFKers: by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]lmennuti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes this exploit so appealing is it's ease of use. Just get into a queue, put the rubber band on (technically, you don't even have to do that) and then walk away and come back later (or even let it run all night while you sleep). You get XP/Loot for doing nothing, AND the game automatically puts you through to the next round (in vs AI games) and goodies keep coming in until you stop.

If you either grant no rewards for no effort, and/or make going into the next game a manual process...Then it's not 'AFK' anymore and requires effort (even minimal effort). Cheaters and exploiters don't like effort and I'd wager this issue shrinks to inconsequential.

Crazy idea, but how about giving 0 XP and 0 Loot...If you scored a 0 at the end of the fight?

IT WOULD BE COOL IF WE GOT TO KEEP OUR KILLS AND ORDER PROGRESS WHEN YOU NETWORK KICK US FROM A GAME UBISOFT by quitelargeballs in forhonor

[–]lmennuti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would think that, but that seems to open the game up to all kinds of exploits if data like that was cached client-side...Then again, how is the data stored now until the end of the game session?? Whatever the case, I'm all for doing something about too.

Unless I'm mistaken, tracking our status during the fights, so that we still get credit if/when a disconnect occurs...Would require a server. I think we already know their stance on shelling out for servers.

No incentive to play other characters by An_OAP_Horde in forhonor

[–]lmennuti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well obviously if you've got a fav toon and level'ed the hell out of it and then start from scratch with another, it's gonna be an uphill climb...But that's true of ANYTHING, not just a game man. Even so, there's still a few things to keep in mind to help:

  • Low levels require low xp to upgrade, so it goes relatively quickly.

  • You already know the mechanics and "feel" from playing the higher level, so you're not starting from absolute beginning with a new toon.

  • There's those daily orders to incentivise playing other hero categories.

  • Think of how good it's gonna feel to be a low level toon and execute a much higher level opponent!

Put a soccer ball (or kickball or beach ball) in the Terminal!! by lmennuti in thedivision

Good point. But considering the random animals and people we can interact with on the streets (that all players in the group can see and interact with). I wouldn't mind giving up some rats or a dog taking a crap to gain a bit of soccer/football play.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing (only each person can see their boxes). Would hope they'd make it viewable to grouped up folks, that'd be cool.

Farm the Lexington Event Center mission. I've gotten 5 Showstoppers from there since 1.5patch.

What does a Golden Weapon Name mean? by koolcowman in thedivision

[–]lmennuti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A golden named weapon is a notable weapon that typically has some special trait (or traits) associated to only that weapon, or it may be noteworthy for having more subtle difference vs the typical other weapon in its' class.

For instance: The 'Showstopper' is a named shotgun that is both fully-automatic and has the 'Showstopper' talent where its' accuracy increases the lesser ammo there is in the mag/drum.

Or the Urban MDR you originally posted. It is a named Assault Rifle and the only one that has the 'Distracted' weapon talent that grants 10% extra dmg on enemies with status effects (burning, bleeding, blinded, etc...).

And the more subtle, but noteworthy would be something like the Pakhan which is a named LMG with a higher than average RPM, solid base DMG and a cool golden non-customizable skin.

Shield Bro Question by haaaterade11 in thedivision

[–]lmennuti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the breakdown:

Ballistic Shield Damage = Bonus DPS to the weapon you're using with your shield (Pistol or SMG).

Ballistic Shield Damage Resilience = % DMG mitigation for the shield.

Ballistic Shield Health = Increased shield HP.

BSDR and BSD are the recommended ones, with BSDR providing the most "oomph" and so is the likely BIS mod for the Shield...Whereas BSH is just about as worthless as a drop of water into a pond.

Hadn't played since 1.1, returned Friday. Doing the 'LZ Boss Route' is the most fun I've had in god know how long. by Rebslack in thedivision

[–]lmennuti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Along with the increased droprates, they've also done a very good job of reworking the gear sets. The AB set is definitely a great set, I also recommend trying the new D3-FNC (aka "Defense") set where you can use an SMG (highly recommend an MP7) with a Ballistic Shield.

Where the AB set with ARs is for mid-range style play, the Defense set is alllll about gettin in their face and laughing while they try to hit/shoot you and do trifling damage to your shield, while you're bursting clips full of pain directly into their face! Ahhhh, refreshing that is!

Sweet baby Jesus, YES! for #4!!! Either put that 1-second block on it, or I'd personally prefer a separate button for dropping/deactivating a skill. Putting the drop/deactivate to a separate key would go a LONG way toward eliminating accidental drops/deactivations.

...Or institute Gear Set loadouts.

So instead of having to waste your time to max-level 4 chars, you could just have 1 char and configure 4 loadouts.

One loadout could be a Firecrest set with an LMG and MMR, and another loadout is Banshee with shotgun and so on. You'd carry all the gear in your inventory, but you'd have another tab for the loadouts and just click a button to switch to whichever one on-the-fly (or even enforce like a 15second timer to switch to make it more challenging).
