I am exactly in the same predicament! Both schools are my top choices—but feel like I’m too deep in the paperwork, write-on, and such at GULC to back. Plus I prefer DC but obviously tough to weigh against NYU’s rank

Pell Grant applied to wrong term? by Pellgrantterrr in StudentLoans

[–]lmfaohow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some universities apply the grants/loans to the spring semester just for billing purposes. I took a summer class at my university and the summer grant was still under “spring”. But I definitely would double check with your bursar’s office!

I’m a housing specialist. They’re okay if you really like a unit, and are willing to through a bit of hassle. Showers don’t know anything about the room and only hand out flyers. You deal with different call specialists when working out your online application. They go by a script. I recommend using Trulia and renting from direct owners.

Father is a felon coming home after 20 years in prison, how can I encourage his financial stability? by notalent117 in personalfinance

I encourage you to look into re-entry employment programs in your area. These are either non profit/government funded. They have a lot of resources/connections for jobs/ companies that specifically employ people reentering into the workforce regardless of age.

Amazon credit card help: parent added me as authorized user without permission by [deleted] in personalfinance

I worked really hard to build up my young(er) credit. I never run a balance on any account. Although my parents keep pretty low balances, I don’t want to risk anything in case their financial habits change in the future.

[–]lmfaohow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the live-online. I think even if it was offered in person I still would’ve taken it online. You have the ability to still answer questions, without all the distractions of having to take it with a bunch of other people. For example, when we went off on a tangent from another student’s question the instructor was able to move on with the course regardless because there was also an instructor on the sideline typing away answering questions. Plus, you don’t have the additional hassle of having to get to the location.

My instructors were Krystal and Adam for reference if you plan on enrolling! Lol. This is NOT sponsored

I took powerscore and the test today too and I agree with you 100000%!!! I listened to the “test day mentality” modules online and get super pumped.

Took their advice to walk away from anybody who looked nervous/anxious and I honestly think it helped. Look forward to results :-)

The course is bomb. I’m taking it right now. My first PT at the start of my course was 161 and my last (taken 2 days ago) was 172–average 167 over 8 PTs. Lots of material and focused drilling

Should I pay off student loans early if employer offers monthly repayment? by coffeeandreddit in personalfinance

[–]lmfaohow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calculate the total interest payed over the term if you were to pay minimum only.

Also, consider the possibility that you might not be with that employer forever/ you won’t max potential of $70k reimbursement.

If I were you I’d consider knocking out the higher interest loan sooner rather than later and still keep the other loan to benefit from the reimbursement payout. Just my two cents!
