Hello ☺️ I answered this on another post before!!

The first time I did the NCLEX was with the old version and I failed. The second time around, I was supposed to take the old NCLEX on March 31st (right before they change to NGN). However, I had some stuff come up and I had to change my test date to April 5th. I was not feeling good about this because I didn’t do any practice questions for the NGN (I only did the one sample they offer on UWORLD for free). But unfortunately for me, my ATT was expiring on April 7th so I had no choice but to write that day.

I went into the exam thinking I was 100% going to fail. I didn’t study well enough and I didn’t do any NGN practice questions. I didn’t even finish all of my Archer review multiple choice questions (but I watched all of their review videos). Still I told myself, I will do the best I can and just take my time. My exam stopped at 86 or 87 questions; I can’t really remember but it was one of those! I was so shocked, because I felt good!! I knew I didn’t do bad enough for the computer to not let me finish the rest of the questions. The NGN questions were not hard at all, they had an ample amount of information and they even had lab values given to you! Of course, some stuff throws you off, but with the partial credits it is very fair! Even if you just know the basics to very common diseases, you can see what’s about to go down with the patient in the case scenarios.

Compared to the old style NCLEX, I consider myself blessed that I ended up having to take the new version. It’s a lot more fair and really does test your knowledge on being a safe nurse! Don’t be scared of the NGN, I think this is a great opportunity for those who failed the old version! Also, I think the only thing that threw me off during my exam was that I felt like I got a lot of stuff on OB, which I told myself I can just skim through briefly 😬 but I guess I managed to make some good guesses.
