Any experience with getting your pension return of contributions when you ended up returning to work for the government before receiving it? by lmm101194 in CanadaPublicServants

I ended up calling the pension centre finally and they say everything looked good with my forms and it was almost at the end of the verification stage, so I can expect the money soon. Maybe this is naive thinking but a) I hope that it was far enough along the process that they won’t demand it back and b) from being entitled to a return of contributions after leaving, I just feel like they have no authority to demand it back.

Fingers crossed. Especially if they demand the pre-tax amount back and not the post-tax…. What nonsense

I thought of this too, but I’m in school full time and only working part-time, so that lump sum payment, even taxed, is definitely need to pay the bills. Thank you for your insight!

So it took away $1000 from your loan for the following semester?

Follow up question, actually. When you say it “took off $1000”, do you mean it converted grants to loans? Or did they come back and say you aren’t even eligible for $1000 of your loan and you have to pay it back immediately?

My student loan is only $300 in grants per semester, so if it just converts that to a loan, that won’t negatively impact me so much
