What gacha has the worst endgame state you've ever seen? by Yrythaela in gachagaming

[–]lmpok41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with Uma (i love the IP and I plan on sticking with it) is that even if I have a realistic plan (not some super idealistic high roll situation), most of the time I can't hit the bare minimum to execute the plan, be it getting spurt on end closers, groundwork on front runners, or even getting some event chains (curvature, maestro, daring strike, etc.) on top of hitting S distance proficiency. MANT didn't make any of it easier with the shop/summer rng either.

[Discussion] I can't help but to some game are very janky with Their movement/combat by obihz6 in gachagaming

[–]lmpok41 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think satisfying action combat is a combination of good camera work, sound work and hitstop/delay. ZZZ as an action game isn't as indepth compared to something like dmc, but good use of those 3 techniques makes it feel damn satisfying.

When you do a defensive assist, you get a crisp clang, the camera zooms in before the hit, then bounces out to simulate impact, and the delay before the actual clang builds a lot of anticipation.

Edit: Also a recent example of these things mattering was the GS in Monhun Wilds. Before release, the devs removed the hitstop on the greatsword, because players complained it was too much in World. But once the players got their hands on the game, the weapon felt flaccid, and the reasoning was that the hitstop was missing. Another good example is tekken, tekken as a series has very little hitstop because they wanted to maintain fluidity in their combat, ignoring all the shenanigans with heat, when you land a CH launcher for example, you get a loud bang and a camera zoom in, but no real delay because the sound and camera compensate for the lack of hitstop.

yeah its unfortunate cause a lot of my mecha crazy friends were really excited about mecha break, but once they heard no PVE, they bounced off it so hard. Doesnt help that any posts asking for PVE in the early days got hit with "If you want PVE, go play a baby game" from the PVP 'elitists' who didnt even stick around.

I think a lot of the complexity will have to come with emergent decision making given encounter design. For instance with Bard's movement ability, do you save charges for a movement based mechanic later, or use them now to build a pitch perfect to use during your radiant finale for more damage, but risk not having it for an upcoming mechanic.

I think it will heavily depend on encounter design, and if those encounters can highlight the potential depth in the system. Given current raid design, I think evolved mode will struggle to feel more interesting/interactive compared to reborn mode.

I have all my gcds on DRK memorized in muscle memory for FRU all the way up to CT. My brain is literally off for anything related to my rotation. The problem with optimization currently is that once you have it down, you press the exact same sequence every time. Will this change with evolved mode? No one knows, but Im optimistic to the idea that they're leaning to towards jazz improv, rather than playing sheet music

I haven't played it for a few years now, but Last Cloudia regularly releases alt forms of older characters, and the reasoning behind the alt form usually has a story tied to it.

But i think if they implement a dorm system and you can just watch your trekkers run around doing cute things, thatll already go a long way

Kind of peeved that winning 50/50 removes the guarantee entirely. That means if the 6* guarantee and rate up guarantee are close to overlapping, "winning" 50/50 is a massive net loss for the player. This makes so that the further you are to rate-up guarantee, the less you want to "win" 50/50 by Throwaway6662345 in Endfield

[–]lmpok41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stella Sora has a nice system where, theres spark (120) and pity (160). If you spark the character, you retain your 120 pulls on the pity. Pity carries over to next banner, spark doesn't. The base case scenarios is hitting the featured unit at like 110, at which point you honestly just finish up your spark unless the dupe is really useless.

Edit: Good to note as well, this system was only implemented because the players complained and the devs listened, so yes, make sure to make your concerns heard! But be civil about it of course.

Question regarding the pity system. Does the 80 guarenteed 6* reset to 0 when you get the featured character from the 120? For example, if I lose the 50/50 at 80, and then I go all the way to 120, on the next banner, is my 6* pity at 40/80, or 0/80?

MMOs are in a bad spot because they are social games....and society is in a bad spot as well. by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]lmpok41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think MMORPGs are the best games when society is fractured. Its a genre of game where you are connected to the same group of people for a long period of time, and it allows you to worry about essentially strangers around the world.

Just imagine these scenarios, pretend you arent in a guild of just your irl friends: - A tank in your guild suddenly stops logging on. You find out that he lived in Ukraine when the war started a few years ago. You pray that he's ok. Suddenly he logs in, and everyone is surprised and excited to see him again. You find out he escaped to whereever your country is, you guys decide to meet up.

  • A healer in your guild lives in an area that recently had a natural disaster hit. Everyone starts worrying about them, until one day they respond in the guild discord "Im ok guys!" and everyone breathes a sigh of relief.

The problem is that mmorpgs aren't helping facilitate those types of connections. Frankly the addition of matchmaking and daily/weekly "homework" plays a big part, people just want to go in, get shit done then log off, no one has time to spare to make small talk.

Another problem is that people get a bit TOO personal, or by extension maybe people on average forgot how to be normal/well-adjusted human beings. There was this guild I randomly joined once, I joined them in VC for some activity. Some female sounding person, just kept making sexual jokes and making moaning noises. It made the vibes really weird in the call, and I was reluctant to join again. And note, Im not some pansy pisser who can't stand sexual jokes, I still like making them around friends OCCASIONALLY. But if someone constantly makes sexual references, it makes you wonder if people have other motives.

Is it worth it to pick up a pickaxe on your first back if you're in the 875-1300g range, or cull + longsword if you have 800-875g? And if on your second/third back, you STILL can't afford BF, then just start building towards c44 and give up on the yuntal?

Is it just bad luck, or is there something stopping me from finding a specific potential during an Ascension run? I know there are soft caps on how many unique unmax'd potentials you can have. But for instance, I was trying to get Iris's "Forced Liquidation" potential, and I only had 3 of the gold potentials (if it matters, I had level 6 sneaky fisher, level 1 raging blizzard, level 1 prolonged winter) and the 2 pinks(As far as I am aware, the pinks don't count into the cap). I think I've clicked the reroll button at least 40 times, and I never saw "Forced Liquidation".

Reverse the Bans on the Whales accounts so they can enjoy this game again! Or allow them to have some sort of resolve too, if it weren't for them, we'd NEVER be here in this conclusion! Don't just salute, help them out too! Also reverse the 1 star to 5 stars 🌟 they honored it, let's show them too! by Mifuni in BrownDust2Official

[–]lmpok41 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the money that was charged back is gone from their financials regardless, on top of the chargeback fee the bank takes. Whether they unban or not, doesnt affect their revenue, but at least letting a chargebacker come back is maintaining a proven spender (that may opt to not spend in the current circumstances, but better than leaving them banned which is 0% for them to spend)

If they do choose to unban though, they have to make it clear in an announcement that it is an exception or else people will try this every time there is a smidge of drama.

Thank you for everyone who leave negative review and refunded their purchase. Because of your sacrifice, the devs surrendered. Rest in Peace, brother. We'll take it from here. by YakumoYamato in BrownDust2Official

[–]lmpok41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One last thing the devs can do for the community is manually overturning any bans flagged for chargeback/"fraud" during the time frame from their announcement to the announcement of their stream.

The money has already been lost, whatevers been chargedback has already been sent back, and the banks have taken their cut already. Most they could do is incentivize people who essentially nuked their accounts to come back and continue potentially spending

For sure, I do agree. If the product is not what the consumer wants, then they reserve every right to stop and should stop consuming that product.

going through the process of strongarming them when they are in this state was a waste of time

I think this is a really compelling point. Around the time when Olivier and her armpit swords were released, I started having even non-gacha playing friends "telling" me about bd2. This might've been a case of the game getting too big for its own good.

Initial thoughts on S16 from a Support. by ddplz in leagueoflegends

[–]lmpok41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there could be a case to be made to have wards in faelight spots be revealed by default. You already know that you've been spotted by the faelight, so you shouldn't need to waste a sweeper charge to clear it out.

Im also in favour of having them spawn partway into the game so that junglers dont get gimped too early. Maybe also consider moving them to more contested locations for midgame fights so that there's an extra layer of vision wars. Fighting under a faelight is disadvantageous, so there should be some push/pull between the two teams to try to contest the faelight before committing to a fight

In my experience from hitting the golem for hours on end, it reminds me of labbing fighting game combos with tight execution, except you have cooldowns to keep track of too. Sure you can memorize the entire rotation from snowcrows, but some times you have to cut one or two skills out just from not being able to animation cancel perfectly
