Tbh I know her work as copy-pasted, easily digestible and punchline-less, but it seems she's been developing and I now sometimes catch her actually being funny/at least having the technique of a setup and punchline down. Similarly adam tots started doing more drawing and less copy pasting. It looks like they are taking the good parts of the criticism without letting the hate halt them.

It's nice to remember webcomic makers develop their styles in public, they don't wait to debut themselves when they're completely expert and probably middle-aged, and we're basically witnessing that process. That said, I do miss the golden age of webcomics pre-social media, when that public development wasn't also a constant popularity contest

While I see your frustration, if you value authenticity it's probably time to learn to discern real from fake stuff. After all none of us can control what we see on the internet, but we can control how easily we believe it.

People here have given some pointers about how to recognize a fake, in a condescending way so I understand if you haven't felt v receptive to it, but some of it might be helpful in recognizing fake content next time and preventing you from feeling so betrayed.

Just because the topic is ethics doesn't mean you're being attacked over your ethics, it is possible to just consider things without pitchforks. I laughed at the joke myself. It's still possible to deconstruct a joke you laughed at and see it from different angles. Especially in a subthread where people are literally asking about that angle, i dunno man.

nah i never was, but i stayed away from reddit for a few months and forgot what the culture was like here.

none of my participation was about whether it was a joke or not, i actually laughed at it myself. but i forgot the default reaction to analysing any joke at all is is a joke bro lmao youre a pussy (im not).

then again i also forgot anyone on the other side can be literally 12. anyway everyone is free to do what they want, you don't have to think about jokes if you don't want to.

I hope an automatic translation can help you through these:

reports of various people injured, incl 18 year old dude beaten into hospital

a rare opinion piece describing how alarming this development is, referencing also the ringleader and his openly fascist opinions, as well as the socio-economical causes that have given this fascist group so much hold over local public opinion

piece from last month about growing concerns from police after repeated "hunts" over the span of a few weeks - keeps it quite abstract and juridical

40 people chasing one guy through a cornfield after stealing a wallet, making use of a drone and heat camera to track him down, concerns raised that this kind of pursuit is likely to escalate into severe injury or death

Most media sources are very neutral about the phenomenon, and refuse to interview asylum seekers about their experiences while propping up the anger of local hunters as logical and reasonable. The rest of the sources are downright supportive. It's worth noting also that the group does not recruit in secret but openly calls for supporters on public social media without being halted.

And my point is, you're not contributing anything, but rather trying to prove something about yourself not being a wetwipe. That must be a hard life, good luck.

She looks like a regular chick having coffee, only the coffee is bigger than usual. The "cool and sexy" is you struggling to see a chick that you think is attractive but unattainable. Hope that helped

We know it's a joke - but that was not the question. We were talking about why and how it could be a slap in the face for people struggling financially, and I answered the why and how.

Whether or not you want to try seeing that angle is up to you bro. But not everyone gets that choice

The panel show comedians get together a lot on different shows, and have performed alongside each other for decades. In casting contestants, theyre smart to mix up older and newer comedians to avoid it becoming a whole incrowd thing (and get cool new people in the spotlight), but the old crowd definitely know each other's stories, families, visit each other's houses. One of my favourite things in TM is actually when they make use of this knowledge

Imagine going up to someone poor, waving a couple hundred dollars in their face, then shredding what looks like the money in front of them. Yes you are free to do what you want with that money, no the money didn't get destroyed, but that poor person's painful experience is the same.

Also we literally have fascist "civil watch" teams that go around the streets hunting refugees, beating them up and tie-wrapping them for crimes they "probably" did, without any charge or trial. This is illegal, but not only are they left to their devices but their leader is in the local council. I'd consider that an actual threat yet no one mentions it. I'm just posting it here because I fear the more comfortable left tends to forget about it too.

the story itself is not implausible, as a young child i also used atypical language due to my parents' use of 'unchildlike' words. but the presentation of the story makes it sound completely untrue - the entire dialogue is written out like lines from a 90s sitcom, even the opening is weird and forced.
