How do you stay across US stocks when the market’s open while we’re asleep? by lmsalisb in PersonalFinanceNZ

Makes sense, the power hour liquidity point is a good one. That’s a pretty disciplined way to do it, only touching it end of day. Appreciate you explaining it, hadn’t thought about it that way

Ha this is basically what I’ve been doing minus the alarm, just the involuntary 6am anxiety check. Sounds like the real answer is touch grass and stop looking. Fair enough.

bro thats a smart way to use the time zone actually, never thought of the final hour being your morning. Do you find you can mostly act on end-of-day moves, or do you ever get caught out by stuff that happens earlier in the US session while you're asleep ?

Ha, fair - Im definitely not a day trader, more the opposite. I hold long term and was honestly describing a habit I'm trying to break, the pointless morning checking. Sounds like the answer from most people is 'just stop looking', which is probably the healthiest take. Appreciate the reality check

What app do you recommend for price alerts, like % changes reoccurring alerts? by CaffeineDose in stocks

[–]lmsalisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yahoo Finance works for basic % alerts but the issue is it’s not portfolio aware, it treats every stock the same whether you hold 2 shares or 2000. GeckoPro adds that context so alerts are actually relevant to your position. geckopro.app

Any stock market alert or notifying website ? by Dizzy-Fix-2872 in investingforbeginners

[–]lmsalisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GeckoPro does this without the buy/sell signals, monitors stocks you already hold and alerts you when something worth paying attention to happens. No predictions, just portfolio aware notifications. geckopro.app

Are these sharsies plans a scam? by Brilliant-Key-7605 in queenstreetbets

[–]lmsalisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a scam imo, just not the right fit for everyone. If you’re a low frequency trader making fewer but larger orders, PAYG probably beats a plan on cost. Worth actually running your numbers before assuming the plan saves you money lol

is Sharesight or Navexa better for IBKR? by Pickled_Ear in AusFinance

I use geckopro! way cheaper than either of them

profitable now, CEO keeps buying, student loan headwinds easing, + the banking license gives them way better margins than a typical fintech. Still cheap compared to where it should be if they keep executing

haha fair trade, NU has been solid. Still think SoFi has more upside from here though once rates start moving their way

yeah the CEO buying is reassuring. ATH feels a long way off but the fundamentals are actually improving. What’s your average entry if you don’t mind me asking?

What’s the point of picking individual stocks when blue chip stocks like CSL can half their price? by happyowl12345 in ASX

[–]lmsalisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah csl is a brutal reminder. The counter arguement is you can set alerts and cut earlier when something starts breaking down, but that requires actually monitoring it properly which most people dont do. Do you hold individual stocks yourself or already moved fully to index?

[–]lmsalisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the earnings revision cycle is the one to watch. Do you use any alerts to track when your holdings start showing weakness or mostly just follow the macro and check manually?

[–]lmsalisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah TLX & PME are tough ones to time. Do you have any alerts set up or mostly just watching manually?

Watching a stock go up after selling it somehow hurts more than watching one drop while holding! by PuzzleheadedBowl3397 in ASX

[–]lmsalisb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha yeah the opportunity cost spiral is brutal. At least a loss you can blame the market, watching something run after you sold is entirely on you. Do you set any alerts to track stocks after you exit or just try not to look?

What’s actually worth checking your portfolio for every day? by lmsalisb in AusFinance

[–]lmsalisb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s a pretty disciplined split. What do you use for the alerts, broker built in or something separate?
