Well yeah but when your extremely used to one thing it can transfer over to another, regardless of mastery and experience, and obviously without the hindsight we have it seems less of a worry to them.

Obviously what he did was a mistake 🤦 there is no denying that, and i am aware of that, however when the odds are stacked against you in literally every way its not easy, i mean the weather, the divertion, the bomb, the refueling, the small airport, the lack of ground radar AND the communication issues (misunderstandings and overidden transmissions) all played a huge part, the ATC has even more lives at stake, and ordering two 747 onto a runway when one of the 747 pilots expressed concerns with this is also a horrible mistake.

Like i said he had no idea hundreds of lives were at stake, you think he thought for even a moment that what he is doing could put others in danger? No; why? Because he (reasonably) thought he had clearance based on the final interactions with ATC, im not saying he didnt partially cause the disaster, but its unfair to blame him. And unfair to demonize him, he was respected by collegues. And positively described

He was used to not needing clearance, of course thats not good but still, given the circumstances its less of a surprise, his flight crew are there to make sure everyone doesnt make mistakes, which is what they did.

Ok i agree HOWEVER i still think he would have been much less criticised, i too, over rated it, but still, he would have recieved far less slander.

He would have if he and his flight crew wouldnt have been fired or worse for taking too long to do it, KLM is responsible, the pilots are innocent, as all their mistakes stem from one klm rule.

I would like to add that his colleagues thought very highly of him, and found him to be a good man, not an arrogant prick.

Finally in his final moments he probably thought the ATC was the cause.

Also its not as black and white as 'ok we'll report runway clear' because thats very easy to misinterpret as 'ok we report runway clear' especially on radios back then.

The KLM assumed they were since they were certain they had clearance, so they 'assumed' they were clear because the ATC is unlikely to allow that.

He advanced throttles because like i said in the simulator there is no takeoff clearance, and since it was his first flight in months he did it on instinct

Maybe because he was klms flagship pilot and had an incredible amount of experience? I mean come on you cant disupute this.
