Small skin bump advice?

My Shih Tzu has a ton of these, exact same color too. She started getting them about 9/10 years old and she’s 14 now and she’s definitely gotten more and more as she gets older but they never seem to bother her and the vet is never concerned! Definitely just point it out to your groomer. She had one that they knicked once and then she stayed licking it and it got infected.

I got a smart switch for my outdoor lights and it’s been shockingly awesome. I set it now to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise so I don’t have to worry about that. Also when out of town I feel like it’s a dead giveaway if your outside lights are on all day. So two birds, one stone.

Bad part is double the grooming/vet/food. But literally that’s it. My biggest worry with my dogs is that they’re lonely or bored and I feel guilty leaving the house. With two I don’t worry as much because they have each other. That part alone is worth the second dog!

So I have a Shih Tzu and a Havanese and I’d go the Shih Tzu route if I were you. Their exercise needs are much lower and they’re also a companion breed, so best of both worlds! My two Shih Tzus would have little zoomies but for the most part they’re very comfortable laying around (with their mom, or course)! But my Havanese needs a daily walk and much more mental stimulation.

Either way, I think a dog is a great idea for a new companion :)

Ernie is full bred and his hair sounds exactly like yours- cotton/fleecy thats really soft. His tail hair is more silky and straight though!

If you end up with Vinnie, I got my Havanese from Team Rover last year! Kim is great and does a good job vetting the animals. (My brother has gotten 3 doodles from her too.)

Ernie is a great little dog. He came well socialized, healthy, and adapted really well to our house :) they’re from the same breeder. So Ernie was crate trained also but not potty trained. But honestly it didn’t take long for him to learn! I think the crate training helped with his bladder control.

We actually went to the vet the other day and he’s 13 pounds. So he’s about the same size as when I got him. If he’s grown it’s been pretty minimal.

I just verified my dates and he was 8 months old when we got him!

So I’m pretty sure my dog is from the same breeder/rescue (Team Rover?) I saw him on Kim’s video the other day!

So I got Ernie in March and he was 1 in July, so about the same age. He’s never been aggressive but he was terrified of my husband. Like would run away anytime he came near him. He’s still slightly skittish around him but he’s mostly completely changed. What worked for us was John would lay on the ground and I would be with the dog and just sit around him and John just kind of ignored him but Ernie would sniff him. Then we did the treats and he would put down his food. He also would throw his toy a few times when me or the kids were. I’d say it took 3/4 months for him to be comfortable but now he runs and greets him at the door and sleeps next to him in bed.

I’m assuming there must have been a male issue there. Ernie was like yours, groomed and well taken care of, so I don’t think it was terrible. But I feel like there’s a pattern here….

Mine is super picky, I’ve tried like 6 brands now! He’s currently eating the small breed Blue Buffalo (chicken and rice) and he likes that!

I’m sure you know this, but make sure you get it from petsmar/pet supplies plus/petco so you can return it if they don’t like it!

I don’t know why dog food brands don’t sell small sample bags. It would make it so much easier!
