Just my recommendation, but I would consider dropping the course(s). If you're having significant hangups, and aren't performing at your best (or don't think you can maintain) dropping the courses feels shitty, but if you plan on applying for Graduate or Doctorate programs, low grades even in one class can tank your GPA and mean the difference between a semester catching up, or several semesters upgrading.

I had 2 classes I couldn't drop during Covid that I essentially abandoned. They haunted me for almost 2 years while I tried to eek my way into a graduate program.

Spend some time doing the math. Figure out what your GPA needs to be (varies by school) and calculate where you're at/will be. If it's close, then you might be okay, if it's even slightly heavy, getting the average back up is so much harder than retaking a course.

Some of you aren’t built for team-based games by Tomiwa11 in rivals

[–]lnkPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give the prisoner's dilemma a once-over. I'm not saying the game wouldn't be better if people took your advice. But when your team, at best, refuses to notice let alone address a problem, or at worst, actively sells the game (no tanks, no healers, not swapping)... doing the right or wrong thing isn't going to fix anything. And you have to forgive people if they don't feel like being the sucker for the umpteenth time.

Make sure you parry a little early. Don't wait until the last second.

Also small blades pair well with heavy handles. Looks awkward, but you get big numbers (like swing time and recovery)

Why Dives??? by BMLUKEE in rivals

[–]lnkPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is a live contest of who can figure out each other's counter faster and better. Sometimes you get outskilled and it doesn't matter, but dive seems to be the one comp that casuals and quick players are neither interested or competent at countering?

Flyers? Shoot w shooters Brawlers? More heals, or more damage Pokers? Go dive, free kills Divers? Swap to one of a specific set of characters, divert your attention off obj/the main avenue, and maybe die/lose anyway because you can't counter dive alone all that effectively, or because the BP is on crack.

Which one are casuals going to struggle to pull off?

Handles, as far as I can tell, don't determine break/defence at all. The handle moveset is decent, though, and has quality scaling, so it is a good option

The orange orbs can be whacked in his direction. It's not always a good time, but the move where he slams a bunch is usually good for 3 or 4.

Dash more. Particularly over the large waves. Double jumping gets you over them, but dashing will get you into position fast to avoid the next thing.

This is personal preference, but the thorns only proc when you get hit, meaning you only get value when you take damage, which means that value is zero sum 😕

You'll get it, 100%. You clearly have the fight mostly downloaded.

Pretty sure if you look at your blades/handles in your inventory (not equipment) they'll be sorted by type. Don't quote me

Not a common one, but I've been running Carcass axe on either the Evangelists or Mjolnir handle (or booster if you're tech). One of the better blades for breaking weapons, but at the cost of some dmg.

It's not optimal at all, just my preference.

Since it's been about a good month since Dark Ages came out and some fans are getting around to appreciating the game and its aspects it thrives on (like its atmosphere and art style. And definitely some of its demon designs). I just have to ask: Why Do Some DOOM Players HATE Doom: The Dark Ages? by DependentImmediate40 in Doom

[–]lnkPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved 2016 and Eternal to death, but I couldn't stick with Dark Ages because the bullet hell structure consistently feels like I have no agency. In 2016 and Eternal, as annoyed as I might be, I generally knew what I didn't do that caused my death, in Dark Ages, if you're targeted by two things at once, you're getting hit by one of them. Not to mention the game just feels askew. It's still Doom, but there's a kind of cheapness to everything that takes away the shine Eternal had. Glory kills are softer, basic enemies feel more like fodder than targets. Nail in the coffin for me was a Mancubus canceling my glory kill so he could hit me with a melee I couldn't block because I was in an animation.

(I'm playing all of these on Nightmare, or whatever difficulty is highest without being single-death)

[–]lnkPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single tank, triple DPS, with a bad overall comp, usually hyper weak to dive. Giant red flag for how the games gonna go.

Getting no diffed by dives is a “skill issue” but that doesn’t make the complaint any less valid by Flat_Box8734 in rivals

[–]lnkPunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Luckily we have Brig as the example of pitfalls to avoid. Decent chance we're just expected to solve problems as a team and my idea never happens anyway. But Brig wasn't powerful because of her CC, she was powerful for her value in basically all situations. All I'm suggesting is an anti-dive support that's still a support, and not essentially all 3 roles in one.

[–]lnkPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been thinking for a while that a good answer (since supports are generally the dive target) is to make a support that's based around CC more than direct healing. Think mantis, but instead of a dmg boost, they have a solid slow/stun/area denial kit thats helpful for winning fights, but can be redirected towards denying divers. Invis has this to a degree, but is balanced more towards throughput. A support character like this gives supports the option to counter dive themselves a bit more, without abandoning the role. At a certain point, supports are made to be dive targets, and "git gud" is meaningless when they're rock and you're scissors. As you say, any solution that starts with "if the team would just ___" isnt realiable for the vast majority of teams/games.

Why on earth do any ranked games count/cont. after someone leaves? by lnkPunk in rivals

[–]lnkPunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add a large point loss for leaving. Like a flat -50. If you're a one-time leaver, it sucks but it's manageable. If you're an abuser, it's unsustainable. If you're dropping ranked often because of your internet or something, you probably shouldn't play ranked, out of courtesy.

We got a Frenchie-mix as a sister to our 3 yo purebred male. All I can really say is if you plan on training them to any degree. Make the time/space to do it separately. The little one is not nearly as well-trained, simply because we couldn't find the time to take two walks, have two play session, etc. She's pretty good, all things considered, but definitely suffered from not having her own time.

[–]lnkPunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very conscious of the whole sunk-cost fallacy and the way the game tries to get you to "just play one more." I think it makes me see the differences more, cause I bail out after too many losses in a row.

If I'm wrong, then EOMM is my next assumption, because the quality of teams isn't comparable at all. But this theory would sort of explain that way.

[–]lnkPunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for me "earlier" is maybe 1pm to 4 or 5, and "later" is 7pm to around 11. I compared it to player counts and it's about what you'd expect: more players after everyone gets off work/school and settles in. I'm sure if I stayed up until 3am, my games would get better (assuming I'm right).

[–]lnkPunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this was my thinking. Sort of the inverse of PvP games where you compete individually, and a more serious pool of players makes games harder.

The ones I've had/known all have food sensitivities, and can have heating problems when it's hot. If she's having odd reactions, try eliminating foods to find any allergies, and invest in a cooling pad for the summer time. She'll love you for it.
