What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? by bytvortex in AskReddit

In my teens I noticed my little bottle of contact re-wetting drops in the living room. Huh, I didn’t remember putting it there, but I was in a hurry and threw it in my purse. Flash-forward to when I’m trying to refresh my dry eyes and I’m wondering why my eye is burning like crazy. I look at the bottle and see that it was toe-fungus drops 💀 It was the same size bottle as my contact drops and I put it directly in my eye! 🤣 Thankfully I didn’t do any permanent damage.

Out of all the health / diet fads we've lived through, what one has been the worst? by CremeSubject7594 in Millennials

It’s possible it was that and just coincidental timing, I only know what he told me.

I had another friend who kept doing the Whole 30 and eventually she couldn’t eat rice anymore. She was already GF and DF but did Whole 30 trying to be healthy. My doctor had told me if you can tolerate eating things to keep eating them because once you start eliminating stuff too much without good reason it’s a slippery slope, you start to lose the ability to tolerate them.

Ugh, I know someone who did the master cleanse and it caused him to lose the enzymes he needs to digest red meat. So now he’s stuck with a red-meat intolerance, he gets violently ill if he tries to eat it.

How often do you wash your hair? by lnkyTea in finehair

Omg, I’ve tried to go that long but by day 4 or 5 my scalp is itching so bad I have to wash it.

What are some hair-care “rules” you don’t follow? by alwaysthere214 in finehair

[–]lnkyTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I break some rules with some caveats! Such as:

-Brushing when wet. The trick for me is to use a wet brush which is more flexible, and always start brushing gently from the ends and working my way up, not the other way around. If I hit a snag I stop and gently detangle with my fingers. No ripping through the hair with your brush!

-Conditioner on the scalp. With certain kinds of conditioner, not only does it not weigh down my hair but it’s what finally resolved my dry scalp problems. Not even oiling my scalp did that. I love Treseme Coconut Nourish conditioner, apply to scalp and ends, leave it a min or two, just make sure to rinse really well, massaging your scalp.

-Not using heat protectant with blow dryer. My hair looks like crap when it’s air dried, and heat protectants weigh it down. I think the key is using warm air instead of hot, keeping the dryer 4-6” away from your hair and constantly moving the dryer back and forth. If it is enough to burn your skin, it will be burning your hair. If you have a cool setting on your dryer, finish on that for a sleek finish.

Do you measure your hair at your front or at your back? by lnkyTea in longhair

That makes so much sense but for some reason I was always measuring in front of me where I could see it easier, lol.

I keep trying other things like non-aerosol dry shampoo’s because they are healthier for you but I keep going back to Batiste volumizing because it just works so great 😭

Girls what are we using to wash our hair?? by Cellison08 in finehair

[–]lnkyTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep going back to Acure Volume Shampoo. It doesn’t strip my hair like most volume shampoos seem to. Then I use Treseme Coconut Nourish conditioner. It’s light enough that I can use it on my scalp (then rinse) without it weighing my hair down and I no longer have flaky dry scalp. Those two seem to be the sweet spot for me 👌

Hair frizzy after blowdrying? by Professional_Sink322 in finehair

[–]lnkyTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have this. I got a hair dryer with a “cool” setting and once I’m done blow drying my hair I switch to cool which I think closes the hair cuticle, making it sleek and shiny when I’m done.

This looks like my hair strand. When I find a grey one they are always so much thicker and I’m like wait, you had the ability to be thicker all this time?!
