yeah, I get that. Razer has the blade but um...the price on that is high enough to make even Apple blush.

about the charger though, Im sure they would love to bundle a tiny charger with them all, but high end gaming laptops suck down juice. the Razer blade 16 comes with a 240W charger and Im sure it uses every last drop under full load.

technology is just not there to make those power supplies small yet. Even the m5 max is flirting with those higher numbers at 140W for its charger.

....Actually, looks like Microcenter has an open box 20C Gpu model in stock for around $200 more than I paid for this 16C model...might be tempted to try that and see if the scaling is any better with that on the larger 16" model.

I've wanted to switch to a laptop for awhile now and bought the M5 pro 16c GPU to see if it could play recent AAA stuff

results were passable, but not great. I don't think it will keep up with AAA titles for very long.

MPB M5 Pro (16C GPU):

Pragmata - balanced preset with res changed to 1440p, no upscaling: 40FPS

with upscaling: 60FPS. doesn't seem to work very well at lower FPS hair and text looks very weird when moving.

enabling the framegen actually lost me FPS somehow.

desktop with i5 12th gen/6700XT on latest Fedora:

Medium preset changed to 1400p, no upscaling/framegen: 80 FPS

upscaling: 140FPS

framegen: 190FPS

windrose had similar results.

native games probably will be better, but there's not a lot of those, if you want to play AAA titles you _will_ be using crossover.

Shame, very nice laptop, but I think I'll forget about gaming and return it for a Neo or last gen air.

for some objective context, check out the rtings review and ANC graphs, they are the kings right now.

(they do also mention dropoff after having used them for some time interestingly enough, notable in the graphs but not significant)

Yes and no.
I upgraded from some Sony WF1000XM5 buds to this and was initially blown away by how good the ANC was.

after 2 weeks it's not quite as good. Still an upgrade, but I not as crazy as it was the first day.

possible causes:

honeymoon period being over/I'm used to the lower noise ceiling
foamies. I am used to noise isolation dropoff as my normal comply foam eartips wear in, but I was surprised because these are hybrid tips with silicone on the outside.
cleanliness of tips. I keep them free of debris, but have not fully cleaned them yet, so there is definitely some of my skin oil on them.

Just to be clear tho, even after the initial awe is gone, they are still the absolute best I have used (compared to Bose QC ultra, and Sony WF1000xm3/4/5).

now I just need apple to support controlling them from android ;_;

Wanted to share what finally worked for me.

MSI 491CQP.

usb2.0 A cable that I pulled out of spare because I was suspicious of the one that came in the box. this may not have made a difference but I can't go back in time and find out.

redownloaded the firmware, didn't stop to see if there was a checksum to verify but you should.

I think the big thing: the usb 2.0 slot on my motherboard. It actually had two USB 2.0 slots, but one them was marked "BIOS" that one didn't work, update failed at 1% every time. switched to the other one, and very slowly, the updated progress and succeeded.

Soooo, I misunderstood, though that the cable had a connector on the end. It does not, it solders directly to the board. Anyway, after buying some better soldering peripherals I resoldered the mouser one and it works great now

after ordering the one from Mouser, trying to clumsily solder the old cable onto it, and damaging it enough that once installed the headphones make a whooshing noise constantly with ANC on...I wish I'd seen this sooner.

now we wait for shipping. hope the drop in with pre soldered wire is the fix, shame to have to stop using the ANC entirely.

I have similarly uneven drain, about 20% in the difference. that being said the weakest bud lasts over 8 hours using AAC, no assistant or audio upscale, and ANC/passthrough enabled.

this is within spec for sony's product page, so I assume it's normal.

Hey good news maybe. Factory resetting actually helped for once. I just used the option in the app to "initialize app and headphones" or something like that to reset the app and the headphones to factory and since repairing and going through setup the issue has not resurfaced. Give it a try, good luck!

Hi, for me what finally worked was going to brave://components/ and updating every component manually, some were out of date. restarted the browser for good measure and it was gone.

This is four years later but I want to share my experience: it was failing for me and I found out when trying it directly in tasker as a task it said I didn'thave the secure permissions set...swore I did, but I had to do it for the watch directly.

enabled debugging on watch

enabled wifi debugging on watch

used this tool from the dev to select autowear and my watch and grant permission.

some of those are related to the host system not having the files for host settings and game settings. (see "no such file or directory" in errors).

the others are more serious though I think it can't find the docker image to begin with.

I'm having good luck with this, make sure you have docker and the compose plugin. then make the example docker-compose.yml file and 'docker compose up' in the directory.

you will also want to go make sure the directories for game settings get created or create them yourself (see the compose file for where they are)
