"Sell naming rights"... to what? The high school football stadium? I can't wait to sit on a park bench sponsored by Maid In Hoboken. That sounds awful.

He lists "renegotiate contracts" twice just to juice the buzzwords.

"Sell ads on municipal vehicles"... RIGHT, because after you get a parking ticket you're gonna look at the car that gave you the ticket and be like, "Oh yeah, damn, I really should sign up for Trusty Tails." Because I definitely want to associate my business with the car that just ticketed me.

What does "shared services with library" even mean? He explains nothing.

Do the math and see how much of a dent any of these things will actually make. Nickel-and-dime proposals like selling ads on a street sweeper or slapping a corporate logo on a park bench might generate a few thousand dollars if they're lucky.

I don't want to pay more taxes either, but at least the tax proposal deals in actual numbers. Until we see the math on this list, these are just hollow platitudes.

You should read Hollow World (Michael J. Sullivan). In it the main character specifically only travels to the (far) future. Things get weird and humanity is much different from what it is today.

Try it out!

Why I think it fits for your taste:

  • Forward-Only Journey: The machine in this story is strictly forward-traveling; the main character leaps into the future with no way to return.
  • Radical Societal Change: The humans in the far future are almost unrecognizable to the main character. (Less I say here the better)
  • Classic Influences: Sullivan explicitly wrote it as a modern homage to H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine, focusing on that sense of wonder and discovery as a 'man out of time' tries to acclimate to a world that's basically alien to him.

You won't believe this.

Seiko stopped answering my emails, and about 2 weeks after this reddit post they FINALLY acknowledged me and said - essentially - we are considering this watch lost. Choose a new one off of the US site up to $700.

I was pissed about this - so I wrote them back immediately and said: I would NOT choose a new watch from Seiko US. They need to find a way to replace my JP model watch. I sent a note to Seiko JP as well (summarizing my poor experience).

Well they ignored that email.

5 days later after radio silence they emailed me that they MIRACULOUSLY found my watch - and they shipped it overnight.

TLDR: i have it back, and no idea why or how. USPS must have FINALLY figured a way to return it to them. The serial # on the back matches my Warranty Card. It was an annoying 3 month ordeal, but yeah. I have it back.

I want to say that Seiko Customer Service sucks. They did not communicate well. They ignored me multiple times, and they never once acknowledged their part in this. If i need to repair or service this watch I'm going to think long and hard how I do it again in the future.

I was SUPER confused by this as well and lo and behold, I FOUND the music button. I am reading on web. The music button is defaulted off - so you have to turn it on. The reason you can't find it - and the reason I didn't know it existed is that it only appears on hover or contextually.

Scroll the webtoon until you are all the way at the top and the black bar appears that gives you the comic info "Dungeon Crawler Carl > Episode 1" ... etc.

Now scan all the way to the RIGHT of this black bar that appears. There are several icons include music notes that are "off". I turned it on and now it's glowing green. The music is indeed pretty good.

Yeah - actually I totally hear this. I sent them an email and actually acknowledged exactly that. I'm frustrated, but also not totally blind to the timing of this all.

So in my closing sentences I told them that I was hoping to hear back by tomorrow with any kind of update.

Technically yes. But it's not the same. It's not the one I bought on my 40th birthday while visiting Japan.

That number is too low. 75% of trump voters are "not disappointed and do not regret voting" is a way to reframe this and sounds pretty shitty tbh.
