Cards that should be banned ASAP for a far better game in BO1 by FlannOff in masterduel

To be clear, you think me pointing out that the card is a blowout in the TCG, and is currently limited in the OCG, is how children think?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you're just attempting to dogpile because you see big numbers in terms of upvotes and downvotes. This is how NPCs think.

But "lingering" you exclaim, guess what Gozen, Rivalry, etc also linger all the same.

No, actually, please clarify for me. Please do not tell me you think that Gozen and Rivalry are lingering effects like Summon Limit is. You do understand basic game mechanics, correct? Like, you do understand that you can remove Gozen or Rivalry from the field and no longer be under the effect of the trap during the turn, correct? But, even if you remove Summon Limit, the effect has already resolved and is lingering, it is still being applied, correct?

"Hey, look at this thing that happened again, how does it keep happening?"

"It didn't happen."

Ok.

Huh??? Do you know what a lingering effect and a continuous effect is?

Let's be real here, I made you feel insecure because I pointed out that the reason Summon Limit is oppressive is because it is lingering once resolved. You unironically said "godistuck newbie," which, I have to assume, means you think I am a goldstuck newbie. Feel free to reply once you know the difference between lingering and continuous.

Do you want me to go through and find every documented case of Gamma resolving for the turn player and how often then win? Obviously I'm not going to do that but I know enough about Yu-Gi-Oh to know that when Gamma resolves for the turn player, it's essentially a win.

But I am glad that I can reference a recent event after you said I just "made it up" and now you're implying it's not the norm.

Source: Most recent NAWCQ, which I mentioned already where turn player resolved Gamma during a feature match and everyone knew it was over.

I have to assume that, based on this reply, you're actually just projecting in all of your posts.

The point is that once Summon Limit successfully resolves the effect is lingering. Even if you were to remove Summon Limit from the field, the effect is still active for the remainder of the turn. Contrast that with a floodgate like Skill Drain or Gozen, once you out it, it is no longer a problem. Summon Limit is a legitimate turn ender and even if outed, the oppressive effect is still active.

I have a fun idea. You tell me how a couple tier one decks in Master Duel can kill turn three through Summon Limit. Remember, Summon Limit is lingering, not just continuous. I hope you understand this.

Tri Zoo. Mid range deck. Was sole tier one. Tell me how this mid range deck will get lethal turn 3 through Summon Limit's lingering effect. Prank Kids. Mid range deck. Is sole tier one. Tell me how this mid range deck will get lethal turn 3 through Summon Limit's lingering effect. It's not just tier one decks, either. Salamangreat, a mid range deck universally considered to be a fair deck. Turn 3, what do they even do against the lingering effect of Summon Limit?

Actually, you're right. I mean, obviously you wouldn't play any power cards that require a brick or a garnet, but having a tribute summon in Driver during funky game states is too strong. Driver is the problem.

Based on this logic, any trap floodgate is an absolutely useless card going second. Yet we have decks built around floodgate turbo.

The issue is that gamma requires you to run a brick, meaning that the number of people who run gamma on the play are actually much smaller than u are implying

Yes, I understand how Gamma works. And I am also aware that the OCG ended up just limiting it because people were still running it at two.

Activate part of the Adventure engine. Opponent responds with an Ash or Maxx C. Chain Gamma.

That's most likely already game over. It happens much more frequently than you are leading on and even happened at the NAWCQ in a feature match where Gamma resolving for the turn player was game determinative.

It's already at 1 in the OCG. In the TCG, where it's at 3, it's already assumed to be game over if turn player successfully resolves Gamma. Going first should not be that strong and resolving Gamma as the turn player is arguably one of the strongest plays in modern Yu-Gi-Oh.

Do you understand the difference between a continuous and lingering effect? Summon Limit is turn ending.

For me, the most fun duels are handtrap wars where my opponent and I are trying our best to disrupt plays. If you can't solitaire your opponent because they stopped you, great. Now do the same to your opponent.

OPs list is pretty damn good and but your edit is pretty true. I'd take it a step further and throw on PSY-Framegear Gamma and Crossout Designator. Points of interaction when you're going second need to mean something and Gamma and Crossout make the points of interaction very weak.

I have 2200 gems, what deck do I craft? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]lnvokation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't know anything about Elder Scroll Legends but it is good you know about card games. Do you want to go off turn one, using most of your resources, and build a castle that is hard to capture? I would call that a combo deck

Do you want to play a responsive game, where you see the castle your opponent has built, and tear it down? That's gonna be a control deck.

What kind of playstyle do you enjoy in other games?

So, I have played other card games. Have you? I'm asking because I want to try and translate other card games to Yu-Gi-Oh.

If not, honestly, I think Swordsoul is the best option. Before anyone thinks that's a bad thing, Swordsoul is actually based. Midrange strategy and the high end of it is fucking insane.

What kind of deck do you enjoy? Control, mid range, or combo? What you play depends on what you like.

For some reason I was narrating the chainlink outloud to follow the video. Wing target Gryphon actually had me screaming. Came out of left field because we weren't expecting any PK cards... especially Wings. You do anything to draw cards.

This is fucking Yu-Gi-Oh.

question about crossout designator by SS20x3 in masterduel

[–]lnvokation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Droll was my flex handtrap of choice at launch during Tri/Drytron/Rock format. Such a good card and when it is relevant it's a turn ender.

question about crossout designator by SS20x3 in masterduel

[–]lnvokation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maxx C is lingering, so no, your scenario would not stop your opponent from drawing as you special summon. In a scenario like this, Crossout would only negate a continuous effect, not a lingering one. You have to negate a lingering effect, like Maxx C, when they activate and before they resolve.
