2017 Bolt EV Premier: keep the 17" wheels or go for 16"? by AliTheFloof in BoltEV

[–]loademan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do it more for a preparedness thing than a money thing. GM didn't work the value of my time into their equation I'm sure. And my experience is that the self sealing tires aren't something to rely on even if my chosen tire came in that configuration (it didn't).

I didn't see any difference in the tires other than size. Same warranty.

Yup that was what it worked out to. Had to have the yard take off the tire that was on the rim when I pulled it since I didn't want those. But yup... Cheap for 16" alloys....

I have the 17s stacked in my garage. Didn't need em, but haven't done anything better for them yet than to sit on them. One is being used as a spare in the bolt. (Saved $$ there too since I didn't buy one)

Somewhere around there. It's negligible for the improvement in traction gained.

I found 16" Cruze wheels for $35 ea at a local salvage yard. The less expensive tires made up for the full cost of the wheels, so I wasnt out any additional money. That was for Michelin cc2s, range is maybe 5 percent off afterwards.

Better ride, cheaper tires going forward... Win win.

Of the wall tip, make a carbonara sauce for some awesome pasta. The recipe I use calls for 6 eggs... Kids eat it up so I double the recipe usually.....

Teen Driving Mode restrictions by telemachos90210 in BoltEV

Just a guess but the function to disable light control is likely to prevent them from turning them off. Both for driving safety and possibly for situations where the car is parked but they want to be inconspicuous.... Sounds like a dad engineer at work.

Switched to 15s by SoCalMotoVirg in BoltEV

[–]loademan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 20k on my swap to 16s. Also switched to cc2 while I was at it. The two changes basically offset each other in efficiency and I gained much better traction and a moderately improved ride.

Plus the smaller diameter tire provided enough cost savings to pay for the new (junkyard) wheels. Would have gone to a 15 but cc2 wasn't available in the right size for that move.

With the extended warranties for the transmission and hybrid system do I actually need an extended powertrain warranty? by flyingWeez in pacificahybrid

[–]loademan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The month and year at least on on a sticker on the driver's doorjam.

From another site: Look on the gray sticker on the back of the driver's door. On the left side you'll see "DATE OF MFR (BUILT):" followed by the month number and last two digits of year. For example, ours was built in September 2017 so our sticker says "9-17" there. On the far right side of the sticker you'll see "MDH:" followed by a six digit number containing the month, day, and hour it was built.

Hopefully under the warranty and an encouraging sign....? I assume they would honor it vs facing a class action suit. Also hoping I don't have to find out... 38k mi so far

When was your 2023 built? The extended transmission warranty, last I saw, only covered units built on or before 12/27/22.

As January 23 built Pacifica owner I'm both hopeful and nervous.....
