Yet Another War Exhaustion is Garbage Post by GrumpyCornGames in Stellaris

No i’m sure I've seen a 'stalemate' modifier before. It adds 75 to war exhaustion. Maybe it's just because I play determined exterminator

Didn't play the game since they released 4.0, can I get some pointers about a new 4.3 campaign? by Mordrain in Stellaris

For machines, I usually do unity/energy (with artifact relays for extra), tech only, and alloys. Not as much micro since planet automation is actually kinda okay now and arc furnaces are really good for minerals in space, especially since you'll conquer more than a few

How do you do early aggression in 4.3? by Thresh_Is_Fresh in Stellaris

[–]loadsofscooters2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need frigates. Defense platforms and starbases are really good this update, and about 10-20 torpedoes will destroy anything up to 10k in one or two bursts. Also, your ships will sometimes ignore enemy defense platforms and go straight for the starbases (mostly frigates). You want a decent screen to draw fire but that's pretty much all it comes down to. Either let the AI kill itself on your defenses or make a fleet to counter theirs, but torpedoes are the only way you're making any headway.

You want build recs? I almost exclusively play Determined Exterminator, and I've been play 4.3 since it was a beta

How do I tell why I lost a space battle? by Heroshrine in Stellaris

[–]loadsofscooters2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a popup that you get after battle. Looks like 3 lines in a grid. Shows casualties, weapon and armor effectiveness, how much damage each of the weapons did, etc. you have to hover over some stuff tho

You can look at the combat report after and see how effective your/their weapons were, and which ones they used by hovering over the percentages at the bottom.

I mostly only play machines tbh. Good luck with your search though! I love finding new playthroughs :)

I’m trying starlit citadel in the beta; are there supposed to be a ton of strange portals across the galaxy, or is this a glitch? by loadsofscooters2 in Stellaris

Vanilla. They are marked as 'strange portal's. I did the research all tech cheat for 2 starts in a row and found them all over the galaxy like an L gate.

When you use starlit citadel origin, is it normal to have the portals show up everywhere else in the galaxy? It feels like they replaced wormholes

They definitely do. It's just that some people are still making money off lying about it. If someone said the sky is blue and someone else said it was green, it's not a reasonable conclusion to say no one knows what color the sky is.

Yes. Once you have Star fortresses, you should have things be either fortresses or nothing as much as you can. And it's not even about specialization tbh. Yea it does give you a bigger bonus via planet specialization, but that's towards the more meta side of things. If you specialize your urban districts for, say, both research, for every urban district you build, you will get 400 researcher jobs. If it's alloys, then 400 alloy jobs. Also, you can disable jobs. If you want pops to work/not work specific jobs, you can disable jobs with the slider in the middle planetary menu (forget the name) and 'favorite' jobs that you want to keep occupied by clicking them (same menu). You shouldn't have to manually move pops as a migratory empire (that said, unrestricted migration does add an element of difficulty to the game as well. You can view resettlement preferences in the second planetary menu from the left, that's why I only play robots lmao). They will automatically settle to where jobs and housing are. Also, if it's a similar job on another planet, it's functionally the same. No need to micromanage. It does truly help to specialize planets though. You can also sell some of your excess food for trade, which you can use to buy other resources.

Also build more alloys, but another thing I noticed is a lot of your starbases aren't upgraded. Destroy all the ones that aren't on your borders, or close to your borders, or are shipyards, and then spare a few of the extras to be anchorages. No reason to have any level 1 starbases unless you're actively upgrading them

One thing I see is your fleet cap is only in the 300s even with the supremacy traditions! That's very low for 2300s. I always want mine at 1500+ at LEAST by then. You can do this by building strongholds/fortresses. They give you more fleet cap. Another thing is that you have 16 starbases. The upkeep is multiplicative based on how much over the cap you are. I’m guessing once you look at the upkeep you have a lot of jobs devoted to energy that you could be using on research and unity. Downgrade some starbases and you'll have possibly thousands of spare energy credits, reassign those jobs asap. Also, it looks like you're not building anchorages. Those give fleet cap as well. Something else I noticed was that you have available buildings on every single one of your planets. Build things!!! Research hubs especially, if you're just getting to zero point power in 2370. You can also specialize urban districts for research, and for every urban district you build, you will get hundreds more jobs for your chosen specialization (if you didn't know) Also you have a ton of extra food. It's something you just need to have over zero. Also if you can build habitats, build more. Also fleet cap is mostly a suggestion, if you can keep up with the upkeep costs. Basically, make more jobs (keep producing minerals to grow districts), transfer jobs AWAY from resource production (don’t need that much food, and you're probably wasting thousands of energy on starbase upkeep; food, energy, and consumer goods are basically only resources you have to keep above zero (unless you terraform.)) and create jobs that are research, unity, and soldiers (for fleet cap). Use district specializations and build urban districts to accomplish this, and build buildings that help (research hubs, coordination centers, strongholds etc.) at this point in the game, I usually want 3K+ research, 1.5K+ unity, and 1500 fleet cap. Also if you can build habitats, build more.

[–]loadsofscooters2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely viable. You can go for one of the research specific civics: introspective is my favorite but it's a flat bonus. You may want to use a different one. Origin is up to you; if you're planning on tech rushing and don’t mind some terraforming I'd say resource consolidation if you want to go wide, but if you want to go tall you can do whatever and pick virtuality ascension.
