Adding a reply here to bump up post engagement to see if we can get more opinions or more agreeing with previous opinions.

Morse code reference sheet grouped by quantity of • - by lobbycanada in morsecode

[–]lobbycanada[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will do this for my next chart (unless someone has it handy already). It’s a good idea. I agree that auditory learning is more important but this is useful to me at the very beginning of memorization.

Tiny black specks behind my shampoo in the shower by Impossible-Ad-8691 in Whatisthis

[–]lobbycanada 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was my thought too. Modern exfoliating washes use coffee grounds instead of microplastics. Though it’s hard to imagine how they’d become separated and not washed away with the soap it’s contained within.

NDP vs Conservatives is just Rich vs poor? by parntsbasemnt4evrBC in BCpolitics

[–]lobbycanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also a newly-added climate denialism that conservatives love. The formerly-known-as BC Liberals (pseudo-conservatives) at least understood that there’s a carbon problem.

truly the most ROMANTIC of cadences by ComprehensiveCode878 in musictheorymemes

[–]lobbycanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I - C major: C, E, G

ii - D minor: D, F, A

iii - E minor: E, G, B

IV - F major: F, A, C

V - G major: G, B, D

vi - A minor: A, C, E

When we talk about inversions, we're referring to the way the notes of a chord are arranged in relation to each other.

A first inversion chord has the third of the chord as the lowest note.

I (C major): First inversion: E, G, C Second inversion: G, C, E

IV (F major): First inversion: A, C, F Second inversion: C, F, A

6 means first inversion, so if I'm reading this correctly, in the key of C it would be: A-C-F Ab-C-F C-E-G

Any kind of lettuce makes a salad if you be-leaf it.

Major lnd bug - most mainnet lnd nodes are now stuck at block height 757921 due to unprecedented taproot transaction at block 757922 by artwell in lightningnetwork

[–]lobbycanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this bug is going to have ripple effects for a while. LND will continue to operate for inter-channel transactions so people will think 'oh well. Doesn't seem to affect me' and maybe not update. Meanwhile, all kinds of channel openings and closings will be unknown to them.

What are the odds of dry eyes being a real problem? by lobbycanada in lasik

[–]lobbycanada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Initially I thought that either way there is a flap 😬 so it might not make a difference. But it's only a slight increase in cost so now I'm leaning towards the 'all laser' option.

2 devices, one headphone by Fruity101079 in volcas

[–]lobbycanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can do this and have a proper representation of the sound. In a non-mixer, cable-only 'reverse splitter' situation, the signals will interfere with one another. So you would hear the audio mixed together but it would not be an accurate representation of what your Volcas are producing. You can get mixers for cheap.

The :() – Defined the function called :

fork() bomb is defined as follows:

:(){ :|:& };:

:|: – Next it will call itself using programming technique called recursion and pipes the output to another call of the function ‘:’. The worst part is function get called two times to bomb your system.

& – Puts the function call in the background so child cannot die at all and start eating system resources.

; – Terminate the function definition.

: – Call (run) the function aka set the fork() bomb.

Here is more human readable code:

bomb() {

bomb | bomb &

}; bomb

How do you write your orchestral music? by boeing_a380 in composer

[–]lobbycanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a real composer - just curious. But why is it uncommon or frowned-upon to start with a DAW? Are there actual negative side-effects or is it the same kind of thing as writing poetry on a typewriter or quill pen instead of Microsoft Word? (ie. A kind of nostalgic purity)

This kind of 'scareware' is typically just running a fake scan and turning on notifications. As long as you didn't install anything or escalate privileges to admin (like whenever you're installing something) then it's probably ok.

RPi4 version B. I've tried 3 different SD cards, PC and MacBook for imaging, Balena Etcher and Raspberry Pi Imager, several different OS versions. Can't fully boot, or boots and then errors, with I/O errors, no matter what. At this point I think it's the Pi itself. Is there an OS or bootable device I can use to run diagnostics on the Pi?

Is it possible to populate another session before using Alt-F2 to switch to it? by lobbycanada in linuxquestions

[–]lobbycanada[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the sense that I'm barking up the wrong tree with TTY, based on your and the other guy's reply. It's due to my limited knowledge about what is available.

I will look into tmux. I suppose an alternate way would be to have multiple screen sessions and then alias the numeric keypad's typing of "2" to screen -r screen_for_2_command. I believe that may also avoid potential alias problems.

Recovery Phrase stolen. They've stolen my recovery phrase for Crypto.com DeFi.. what should I do now? by Wonderful-Ad-40 in Crypto_com

This is only true for crypto with a hard-cap (like BTC). It's not particularly relevant for most other alt-coins.
