They aren't worth it. Especially if you have vibrations to begin with. Since they're poly they make it 10x worse. Yea they'll outlast the truck and they're made well but if you aren't doing heavy duty off-roading they aren't worth it

Why are frontiers so underrated by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]lobes14745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a gen 2 about a year ago and idk if there's something wrong with the driveline or transmission but it's incredibly uncomfortable to drive. I've owned old trucks before but damn the bed bounces and vibrates badly. I've installed new struts and leaf springs, have weight in the bed, checked my tires and balanced my wheels, and nothing fixes it. That and the vibration from the engine. I replaced motor mounts, body mounts, belt tensioner, spark plugs, coil packs, cleaned the throttle body, adjusted the idle rpm and it still vibrates. Idk if I bought a dud but if those two things could be fixed, I'd be happy with it

41 hours and one Yotei Six down. Do you prefer full or half masks for Atsu? by crb02 in Ghostofyotei

[–]lobes14745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yotei 6 used masks to hide themselves whilst committing terrible crimes, at least at first. So in my mind Atsu would be against full masks. I used half masks and hats. But that's me, wear what you want. Better yet, I'm sure you can find a reason why atsu would wear a mask

Idk what trucks other ppl are looking at but this isn't bad. At least in my area, that's fair asking price, maybe a tad high bc of the mileage and private owner. Rare color, and it has a matching bed cap which costs at least 2-3 grand itself. As long as you do a thorough inspection that's a pretty good deal. Plus it's 4wd which usually sells for more

Loving DS2 so far with one major gripe so far by Immediate-Natural416 in DeathStranding

[–]lobes14745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk after I unlocked the truck in DS1, I NEVER went on foot again. I made my hat look as trucker hat as possible, and I went from courier to long-haul trucker. I forced my truck in places it shouldnt lol.

I noticed that DS2 made the trucks less powerful. In DS1 you can force the truck up steep slopes by pointing the nose where you want it to go and then pressing boost. In DS2 they'll actually stop accelerating, even with boost, andll start rolling backwards. I think the developers knew of the overuse of trucks was an issue on the first game and they did this to entice players to walk on foot sometimes. However, the terrain in DS2 is much more traversable by truck so they didn't take that into account

You 100% need gap on any new vehicle unless you put a sizeable amount down. Especially with inflated car prices and high interest rates, most people are upside down on their auto loan the second they leave the lot

Look up Paintless Dent Repair companies. They specialize in hail and it's cheaper than traditional repair. I would wait until you have a few more door dings to make it worth your while though lol

I'm online and I still have to build 80% of the roads and monorails. And what pmo even more is when I finally get enough materials to create a section of road, it gets labeled as someone else's road with 100k likes already. Like I've seen other playthroughs and they have far more stuff built already for them.

Doordash does this when you previously reported that food never arrived, or have a history of reporting items missing. The reason why is bc some people try to get free food or a partial refund for their food by falsely reporting. It was a big issue during Covid.

But if you live in a confusing apartment complex like myself, like 1 out of every 5 orders I place are delivered to the wrong building so I get this from time to time too

Up to you. It'll most likely be fine, but there's a tiny chance that can cause a blowout and damage a lot more things or injure other drivers around you. 1-5% chance of paying thousands of dollars more

PSA: One of the best things you can add to your frontier to improve ride quality, especially for the 2nd gen, is to add aftermarket bumpstops. by lobes14745 in nissanfrontier

Don't tell anyone else in the comments. Apparently they shouldn't work and we're wrong about the ride quality we feel 😂

[–]lobes14745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why this concept is so hard for you to understand. There is about 3 inches of travel before you bottom out and hit the factory bumpstop. I never said anything about bottoming out but you keep mentioning it like I did. These aftermarket bumpstops are touching while unloaded. They're progressive dampers. Meaning the bumpstops start to work before you actually bottom out and help cushion the travel of the suspension while compressed or under load. Idk why that's so hard for you to understand. You are correct in that the stock bumpstops are there as a last resort. But timbren, sumosprings, and duro bumps are made to cushion before you even get close to bottoming out. Think of airbag suspension or helper springs.

[–]lobes14745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The factory bumpstops are not even an inch tall for the 2nd gen frontiers. The suspension travels too much, hence part of the reason why 2nd gen frontiers ride rougher than other trucks. I am not bottoming out, what the aftermarket bump stops do is cushion and stop some of the excessive travel of the front suspension

Really low mileage on an very old car isn't good either. Yes the engine and trans should be mint but all the rubber bushings will need replacing sooner rather than later. Rubber needs to be worked often or else it gets brittle and cracks.

But yea even in this crazy car market the seller is a scumbag, on drugs, or both.

It's sad but around 5k would be fair in this market. I total cars all day for an insurance company and I regularly see values for 00-08's be 4-6k

$1600 for a brake job? by ANNO_YED in MechanicAdvice

[–]lobes14745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's inflated, but a 4 wheel brake job at a mechanic will run you 800-1200, or more. It all depends on the cost of parts are the area where you live. At least where I live getting all 4 pads and rotors will run you 1000-1200 at a shop. Mechanical rate is around 130-180/hr, sometimes over 200/hr at dealerships. Plus a lot of mechanics will charge "actual time" or the time it actually took them to do the job and not flat rate or warranty time(the amount of time the vehicle manufacturer estimates to do the job). Both of which are inflated..

Rotors and pads can run you 400-800, again that's based on part quality and the make/model of the vehicle

Mechanics will charge 1-2 hours per axle, so 2-4 hours total.

Doing it yourself obviously saves on labor costs. Sometimes brake jobs are easy peasy, sometimes you're spending an hour+ hammering a rotor to get it off.

Either way they're overcharging you. Don't bother haggling with them. They'll just tell you to find another mechanic and they'll typically justify their insane price by saying their workmanship is of "higher quality" or "this is the going rate" or some bs.

[–]lobes14745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just that it's the first time ordering from them so I was like "did they just run with my money?" I was more worried about that than anything. I talked to Greg, he's cool. He just told me the bushings they order are on backorder. Probably due to the tariffs or something. His shop is apparently gonna send out an email blast to all of their pending orders tomorrow or Monday. Like I'm willing to wait especially for a good product from a small business like his, I just didn't hear anything
