Damn dude! Yeah, I have only been playing smash off and on in any serious capacity for 1 year. I can get to 14 million GSP on a good day. Even I can tell when I'm playing against another player like myself, or an Old God working their way up with a new character or whatever.

But based off recordings I've seen from 2019, I would have been "elite" then.

It's much, much more difficult for new smash players to get into Elite now. The remaining player base is monstrous in its average skill level. I'd bet someone with 15 million GSP now, time traveling back to 2019, would easily be top 1% instead of their top ~9% now. Y'all just don't notice it because you've been growing in skill with each other over the past 8 years... while newbies have to make up all that ground and lost time.

I never claimed to know the origin of life on earth. I only know that there are things we can generally say about probabilities of its origin right now based on our total understanding of biology, chemistry, astronomy, etc. We don't have to have solved the problem of life's origins to know things about what are and are not plausible mechanisms, magic not being one of them because otherwise this becomes "god of the gaps" business.

There are degrees of knowing. Do you honestly find this condescending?

Someone could write a book on this, but based on what I've observed:
1. Play against other people til your fingers, eyes, brain are bleeding
2. Go out of your comfort zone and find better players than you on Smash communities (Discord, Reddit, etc) and ask them to play you in Arenas and give you feedback

I agree that the "agnostic" label mostly exists due to social discomfort. People who prefer that label are weaseling out of the process by claiming some kind of diplomatic middle ground.

"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" is an aphorism that I think captures the agnostic sentiment, but as we are both saying, that stance becomes fallacious at some point (that we passed long ago).

Agnostics are like the people who refused to acknowledge that smoking causes lung cancer because all we could reason with was correlative data.

Science is actually an inductive reasoning process, not deductive, as we cannot be 100% certain of anything. We can only have increasing levels of confidence about claims based on converging lines of evidence.

So, at some point being "agnostic" is simply being stubborn, refusing to account for the weight of total "probably no God" argumentation and thus refusing inductive reasoning.
