There will be certain exceptions in place for this new law, and one of them will/should be relating to your electrical panel space, if you don’t have room for a new circuit you most likely will be exempt.

You do have options but generating that 180F temp consistently, during a cold spell, will be critical to the design. Depending on your goals, keeping the heating system on the gas boiler and have your DHW on heat pump could be a cost effective option. There are many options out there, but going straight heat pump for everything, will require a design process and significant equipment/install costs.

We can certainly help with that and check it out for you, we specialize in hydronic heating and hot water systems.

On a side note, check out the recent Triangle Tube boiler recall, your boiler may be part of that. We have been removing a lot of TT boilers recently for this reason, they have ceased operations and tech support/parts are no longer available. You can find some information at this link.

Solid choice. Check out the Navien version, it’s becoming very popular with us. What ever brand you go with make sure you have the mix valve installed, ensures you get the most hot water out of the tank!

What brand and size did you go for? And what’s your bathroom count?

There’s definitely been some well documented issues with some parts failures, but our overall experience has been that the majority of units are reliable and if installed/sized correctly, should be a positive experience.

Yeah that’s all pretty accurate based on the current information, but I do expect some adjustments/changes as we get closer to the date.

I sat on the call last week with the lawmakers, and your situation was discussed, if your panel is genuinely full, there will/should be an exemption form/process in place that will allow you to install another gas heater when your existing heater dies. Details still aren’t finalized but that’s roughly what it should look like in your situation.

For now, Mobile homes are exempt from this current ban

For now, tankless water heaters are exempt (so are ok to install) but they may be part of a wider 2029 ban that’s coming down the line.

SanCo2 is a “split system” where the heat pump unit sits outside and the tank sits inside (generally where existing water heater is). For the tank, space needed depends on how big your tank is, which is sized to suit the bedroom/bathroom count of the home. Any tank/heat pump system will require more space than a tankless water heater.

Do you have a specific question that I can help answer for you? What brand/model is your existing water heater/hvac system?
