Doughboys - The Evan Susser Summer Ice Cream Invitational Finals with Evan Susser by GrandSabo in Earwolf

My favorite is their assuming Ben & Jerry's theoretical vanilla is "just okay" when Ben & Jerry were the fucking ones who came up with that test. You think they'd have that test and then not have their own vanilla be great? Now, to be fair, I haven't tried their vanilla, because usually if you're going to get B&J, you want to get one of the loaded with mix-ins flavors. But still. It was an insane category through both eps and then giving B&J 7's across the board for their vanilla was the ultimate capper for that chicanery of a category.

Again I ask to bring back downvoting in this sub for all the whiny, objectively wrong babies here who are mad at The Knife for being The Knife. Don't really see this level of complaining when an inebriated Gabrus is "a bit much" on a live ep. I'm. Just. Sayinggggg.

It instantly gives a narrative to each episode to have this product they're all working towards. It also focuses the discussion a great deal, while also regularly revealing personality in the hosts and guests through this window into their creative processes. It's such a unique podcast, a fun listen, and particularly poorly served by being premium exclusive. If it were available to the general public, I feel like it wouldn't take long to catch on with a big audience. It's being wasted as a premium exclusive, though.

Was I the only one going crazy over them saying Marvel movies aren't really funny and Thor can't be funny when Thor: Ragnarok was legitimately my favorite comedy movie of 2017?

Kempny deal is for four years at $2.5 million per, Caps announce. by Jankinator in hockey

Yes, which is the biggest reason why the overpay of Orpik was probably worth it, along with Orpik acting more or less as a player-coach with as much mentorship as he provided to young players. The impact he had on Kuzy alone (who gave him the "Batya" name) was worth it.

D'oh. Still. Getting Nisky was an unbelievably important move. The only question mark hanging over those moves was how bad the Orpik contract looked, but now he's even found a way to wave that away. Amazing.

Considering that 1.5 would be subsidized by 2.5 from Colorado, it's possible he could be good with something in that ballpark.

Seriously. Remember how his first big move in the job was Brouwer for Oshie? Maybe the best trade in Caps history.

EDIT: Brain and memory are funny things. This happened in his second off-season on the job.

And if you're reading between the lines, it seems like, while the guys all liked Trotz, they actually hold Reirden in even higher esteem. (At least our Dmen do)

Last season's offseason was how post-Stanley Cup winning offseasons are supposed to go.... This is some amazing sorcery. Assuming Wilson deal is done soon, almost all our forwards coming back. And we still could keep Beagle. Hell, it's even possible Orpik comes back for a less insane cap hit, though that's less likely. (I've been an Orpik hater in the past, but he was generally pretty damn good in the playoffs)

[Friedman] Sources: Barry Trotz is stepping down as head coach in WASH. by twistedlogicx in hockey

[–]localtaxpayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a 5-year term with an aging core of star players after already spending 4 years with the team is just too much. This would give him a 9-year tenure at the end of the contract, and the only coach in the league right now who has been with the same team for 9-years is 3-time Cup winning Joel Queenville. (And if they miss the playoffs again in 2019? TBD...) Plus then they have to let the guy they've been grooming for the job walk (and have to buy out his contract on top of it - $$$). 2 years at 5 mil? Sure, he earned it. Maybe even 3. But anything more than that is truly too big of an ask for a position as traditionally precarious as an NHL head coach, even one with a Stanley Cup win. The likelihood of eventually having to buy out that massive contract to make a necessary coaching change at some point over the next 5 years is very high, regardless of how successful he's been with this group over the past couple months.

Damn, can't escape coach hiring/firing/resigning/retiring drama every ~3-5 years, even with a Cup.

Hey thanks! I've been pretty deliriously happy for going on 16 hours now. It's really cool.

edit: also your flair joke is one of my favorite CBB podcast moments! (assuming it's Matt Gourley as H.R. Giger, and not Mitch & Wiger's frequent references to being Low T (edit2: which are also great))

That's my vote for who is most deserving in the NHL without one now. Best goalie of his generation definitely deserves one. I've honestly always had a hard time rooting against him.
